This is a very good book having tips to decorate your home.

We purchased this book to use as a visual drawing reference. In that dept it is almost useless. There aren't enough objects in the book to cover most basic needs.

As for showing the different parts of objects, it doesn't go far enough. There are some examples that give you the terms the pros use, but most of the labels are so obvious it seems a waste of space.

Also, if you're looking for a book to show how everyday objects function, this is the wrong book! Instead check out "The Way Things Work" or some other similar guide.

I think this is a great idea. Children get to make the book themselves. The stickers are large, easy to peel off, and each has a fact to help the child put it where it belongs. The pages on this book are packed with facts about the animals. The only problem is that the outline of the sticker on the page and the acutal outline of the sticker don't quite match. This book is great for car trips or for any time children need something educational to do.

The Eyewitness Guides are an oustanding series, so I bought this one without a second thought. Alas, this seems more like a placeholder than a serious attempt at writing a guidebook - a kind of "watch this space" advertisement masquerading as a book. It's so thin, in fact, that the cover seems to sag; the spine is thicker than the pages! The coverage of Oahu is decent, so if you only plan to go to Honolulu, the book might be worthwhile. But the coverage of Kauai (where we spent most of our time) and the Big Island were very poor. I'd very highly recommend the "Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" for Kauai instead.

I am a big fan of Dorling Kindersley Travel Guides, so I was greatly disappointed when I received this pamphlet sized guide to all of Hawaii. It contained slightly more information than I would expect from airport brochures on arrival. With roughly 10 picture covered pages per island, the guide is attractive, but not very useful.

I always use the Eyewitness travel books when I travel to new places. These books are concise and very reader-friendly. The Hawaii guide was extremely useful in planning our honeymoon in Hawaii: we used it to plan all of our activities and were very pleased with the results. Some things are outdated (such as times of Lu'au on Kauai), but overall this book is great.

I know it's just a tiny booklet, but I have found the title distinctly misleading, and would never recommend it to anyone who is really interested in getting to know even a little bit more about multimedia. There are hardly any 'essentials' in this booklet, and the 'tips' seem to refer more to what the highlighted manufacturers must be providing to the publisher for zooming in on their various products. There is no more info on multimedia to be found in these pages than on the boxes and wrappings of the products themselves, and so you're better off just having a look in a store, where you can at least make your own picks.

This book is does what its price indicates that it does. The book is about the size of one of the large 5" x 9" index cards and is a handy pocket reference for ideas.

I used this book to come up with a number of metaphors to explore for a multimedia tourist information system. It did NOT tell me how to build these systems or even state a design list of any type. What it did do was provide a lot of pictures of various systems that I could thumb through and just think about in an open-ended manner.

The price for this book is very well aligned with what it does and I enjoy owning it and looking at it. I use other books to design what I think of after looking at this book.

This slim and small volume gives you basic information about using a home camcorder. Published in 1995, the section on camcorder equipment is already half outdated. The techniques sections cover zooming, panning, tilting, composing, etc. Each of the 101 tips is very brief, to the point of not being too helpful sometimes. For example, lighting -- a very important topic -- receives only superficial coverage.

While this book can be carried with you easily, overall it's a disappointment. If you are genuinely green to camcorder videography, this can get you started. If you are looking to improve your videos, look elsewhere.
