I love dolls - and I love this sticker book!
I was amazed at the number of different dolls that this book included. They are all gorgeous! It gives a small description of each doll and then you need to find the frame with the name of the doll to put the sticker. And the frames are all different shapes and sizes and make the dolls look even more exquisite. Over 35 doll stickers!

Not the best
Many of the books in this series are better than this one. The selection of items and pictures is odd, and the mirror on the last page distorts baby's face like something out of a funhouse. Skip this one in the series.

Shopoholic Mom to Triplets!
Okay, we have *almost* all of the "Touch and Feel" books and this is one of the favorites!! All 3 of my babies *LOVE* the teddy bear and love the lift the 'soft cotton curtain', etc. Loads of fun! Only downfall is these books just are long enough!!

Your toddler will sit still!
This series is great! This was the only thing to get my highly Kinetic child to sit still and read. The things to feel here are things that are in their own environment, and there is a wonderful 3-D component to it too. Personally I think these are heads and shoulders above the "pat the bunny" books, and so does my child.

Not too durable but totally loved!
This book lasted 4 days with my son, age 1. The pages are joined by a very narrow binding so it can be damaged easily. That said, I am back to buy my second book because it is such a great toy/book. This time I am going to reinforce the pages somehow.

Perfect for the want to be biker
Not only is this book filled with colorful pictures to spark any child's imagination, it is also a good size for little hands to carry. It's a perfect book to take along on long trips to keep little minds busy trying to spot like motorcycles on the road. Both of my children loved it - my daughter as well as my son.

Beautiful photos, not enough info
This is a handy little guidebook that features very high-quality photographs (it's another DK book) of just about every aquarium fish you are likely to encounter. It is useful primarily for those looking to distinguish their Five-Banded Barbs from their Checker Barbs or their Madagascar Rainbowfish from their Siamese Tigerfish - i.e. it is a book for fish nerds. I do recommend this book for the enthusiast and the beginner alike, however the beginner should not rely on this book alone as it does not provide nearly enough information on setting up the aquarium, choosing compatible fishes, and trouble-shooting. My main criticism is that while the design and layout of the book, and the large, clear color photos of the fish, makes it a pleasure to read, it provides only very basic information about each fish. For some unknown reason, the critically important subject of water chemistry and temperature is practically ignored. I also find it disturbing that the author does not really indicate which fishes are good for the beginner, and which are more fragile, and suitable only for more advanced aquarists. This is an unfortunate exclusion given the fact that so many fish languish and die in tanks owned by inexperienced people who lack the knowledge to properly choose and care for them. If you're looking for information you can really use, there is not much point in learning to distinguish between 500 different varieties of fishes, but not knowing which of those fishes you would be most likely to be able to keep successfully (taking into account such factors as your level of skill/experience, local water chemistry, the size of the tank etc.). Still, it's worth a look.

Aquarium Fish - Great Identification Photos ............But
This book is a good reference for those trying to identify a particular fish. With 167 pages devoted to Tropical Freshwater, many popular species are covered. Listed are size, diet, tank level and temperament notations. However, many species requirements such as Water Hardness, pH, and Temperature Needs are absent. I would also like to see Ease of Keeping notations for the beginner. With a grand total of only 4 pages devoted to aquarium set-up, this book is simply not adequate for the individuals looking to establish their first aquarium. A much better guide for the frist time fish keeper would be 'You & Your Aquarium' also by Dick Mills. In short, this book is worth having in your reference library if you are buying it for fish identification purposes only.

Perfect for beginners
This reference book provides pictures and the basic information on the most commonly available aquarium fish. It also briefly covers and discusses tank setup and maintenance disease, properly choosing fish, fish biology, and other information that would be useful to beginners. The book is arranged by scientific groupings and species. The common names are given with each fishes photo along with a written description of the species, its natural habitat, diet, tank swimming level, temperament, its full grown size, and more.

I have found that there are a couple species' temperament and size have been wrong but for the most part the rest of the information for each species is accurate.

And this is a science book?!
This book has a very good section on nonbiological science, but when it gets to the biology, it has, in my opinion, a very wrong premise. It assumes macroevolution is a biological fact, when it is, in fact, quite the opposite. This premise saturates the book, and in doing so, biological facts do not fit together nicely at all. Microevolution has been proven by science to be a true, and normal, scientific occurence, but macroevolution, as presented in this book, is a mixture of very good imaginations (as manifested by their colorful illustrations), outdated theories, and a few observations twisted to fit their outlook on science. But as to the section on the non-living aspects of science, I commend this book. This part is unslanted and it has helped me understand many matters of science. Its illustrations make it voluminously easier to understand.

Typos
This book covers almost everything school children will learn in science class. My children refer to it often to look for those extra new details concerning their classes. However they have discovered some errors (and this is the revised ed.)which I will call typos especially in the Periodic Table, which did dampen their enthusiasm with the book and shook their trust a little.

Compact Visual Encyclopedia
This is a kid-size book even adults will love. It is small enough to toss in your purse or put in your pocket. There are over 1,000 full-color photographs, diagrams, charts and cutaway artworks. The information is organized into four key sections and packed with scientific facts, figures and statistics.

This book explains the basic concepts of "matter," "Kinetic Theory," "atoms," "elements (including the Periodic Table)", "Metals" and much more. A Timeline of Scientific discoveries is fun to read and lists discoveries up to 1995.

The Geography section will help children understand the planet more and it explains volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks, minerals, mountains, rivers, lakes, climate and weather. The Gemstone section was quite pretty with rubies, emeralds and turquoise in their natural state. The section on animals gives cutaway pictures that show the insides of each animal so children can understand how a cow chews its cud or how other animals digest their food. How does a whale trap krill in its mouth? This type of information was very interesting.

All I have to say is..."If God didn't design and create our wonderful world, I am not sure who did!" This book will give a child a basic understanding of main concepts, but some parents might want to consider explaining their own views about evolution and creation.

"All Men by Nature Desire To Know." -Aristotle, a quote found in: The Story of Philosophy by Bryan Magee

The inquisitive soul will enjoy reading this book!

Shopoholic Mom to Triplets
We have *almost* all of the 'Touch and Feel' books and this is our least favorite. The touch things aren't very good and this book seems unusually short. I'd definitely recommend another 'Touch and Feel' choice over this one.

Babys Growing Up
Babys come from mommys. You start off just laying. Then you start rolling.Come on baby let's go roll. Then we start
crolling.Let's go faster come on let's go. We are holding on to stuff while we are walking. Then we just let go so are parents can see us go.And that is how we grow.Bye Bye babys I'll talk
to you again.

Mother of Twins
I really enjoy most of the Touch and Feel books. Unfortunately, this book isn't completely safe. There is one page that has a fluffy pink feather for the child to feel. My seven month old twins became very fascinated by this page because they could pull out pieces of the feather. I have to closely supervise them as I read this book to them. I would recommend the other Touch and Feel books. My children adore these books!

not for beginners
terminology not for the inexperienced. directions vague. i'll be returning it.
i much prefer the readers digest complete guide to sewing.

Delivers its promise
This book keeps its promise of delivering "101 essential tips". From choosing cutting tools to repairing a button hole, there are lots of tips to satisfy the beginner sewer. While I like the layout, which includes step-by-step instructions accompanied by photos, this little book could be vastly improved by adding a few more pictures to some of the tips to make them more clear. A couple of pictures could also be improved by better choice of colour (e.g. attaching a flat collar, which is a glaring yellow, and darning a hole, which is so well done you cannot see the example stitches clearly enough!). Nevertheless, overall it is a very useful book.

Excellent for those times when your brain just goes blank.
I love this book, it is great for those times when I am sewing and just can't remember how to do something that is called for. As a sewing site guide on bellaonline.com it has come in handy to answer questions for those long forgotten things, like handstitching a buttonhole. Tho I do wish that there were a few more illustrations when describing how to accomplish something, I do recommend this book to any sewer from beginner to experienced.

101 Essential Tips on Decorating with Fabric
Published in Paperback by DK Publishing (January, 1997)
Authors: Dorling Kindersley Publishing and Deni Bown
Amazon base price: $3.95
Used price: $3.00
Average review score:

Good introduction to decorating with fabrics
This book is good for people who are new to decorating and like fabric craft ideas for the home. It actually contains more information than I expected from the description (it is only 72 pages). The pictures are generally good and helpful. One thing I must say though is that on the pictures illustrating machine sewing the fabric and thread are ofthen similar color and it is very hard if not impossible to figure out where the seams are. Other than that, I think it has enough information to get you started. The price is right too.

However, if you know the basics and are interested in more involved and elaborate projects you might want to choose a title that goes into more detail.

Eyewitness Travel Guide to Greek Islands

history is completely distorted
If you want a travel book about Greek Islands prefer the Fodor's Exploring of the Greek Islands. In this one, Greek history of the Alexander the Great era is completely distorted. Even though only a few sentences are used to refer to this era, the effort of the author(s) to present Macedonians as not Greeks is really obvious and at least inaccurate, since Macedonians were Greek people too. That's also why it was Greek(Hellenistic) the civilization spread througout Asia and Egypt and not Macedonian. It would be much better if they didn't mention history at all. And to be honest, I am sure that it won't be the only inaccuracy present.

Lot of material, but lacking in detail
This book provides a good introduction to Greece and the Greek Islands. It covers lot of topics, from Greek history to common phrases and food, and touches on practically every island in the Greek archipelago, but it covers no topic in sufficient depth. It also has hundreds of beautiful photographs and illustrations. If you are planning a trip to the islands but know nothing about Greece and would like a quick introduction, this book can be useful.

But don't solely rely on this book to plan your trip. The list of hotels in this book is very small. For example, the book gives the names of only 2 hotels in Mykanos, one of the most popular Greek islands. The maps are small and very sketchy. Be prepared to buy a local map as soon as you reach a city. The book gives timings for major attractions, but be prepapred to double check them when you reach the city. For instance, the timings provided for the Athens Acropolis in the book are not up-to-date. Finally, if you are a backpacker and are worried about ounces, remember that this book is heavier than most others.

Great when used in conjunction with another guide
I always buy an Eyewitness Travel Guide before I go anywhere and I have found the Greek Islands one to be very helpful - I'm about to use it on my second vacation there. The pictures and descriptions tell you so much more than a traditional guide book and it is a great help if you're trying to figure out where to go and want more than a text description. I get a better sense of the area and the attractions from the visuals in this book. That said, an Eyewitness Guide on its own is not enough - you should also get a "regular" guide book (for me, that's always Lonely Planet) for info on accommodations, dining out and the other practical stuff.
