Dr. Boyd has done an excellent job addressing the often overlooked influence of pond soils and sediments on water quality in aquaculture ponds. Boyd discusses the obvious as well as the obscure in terms of pond chemistry. Included within is the the best discussion of reduction-oxidation potential in bottom sediments to be found. Dr. Boyd is to be commended on his ability to translate highly scientific material into language that can be grasped and understood by the non-scientist. A must-have for the serious aquaculturist or pond manager.

This book is short but very well written and researched. It gives very vivid accounts for the entire trajedy from start to finish of an event that obviously should never have happened.

My four-year-old son and I are both BIG fans of the First Discovery Book series. We own a handful of these books, and if finances would permit, we would own them all!

As for the Horn Book statement "The text is often difficult to read over the illustrations", I totally DISAGREE. It is a non-fiction picture book, consisting of a multitude of captions. The transparent pages are the main reasons we are drawn to these books. They in no way hinder the reading of the text.

My 2 1/2 year old was having some fear about going down the bigger slides at the park. He has never been much of a risk taker and we do not push. This is a great story of Caillou having the same anxiety, and how his daddy helps him give it a try. My son was totally involved in the story. We talked about how Caillou was feeling, and how my son felt. The next time he and dad went to the park, he wanted to go down the slide with dad "Just like Caillou". We have bought several of these books since, and they just seem to be great at opening up discussions. My Son really relates to Caillou!

On a recent trip we bought quite a few sticker books for our toddler, and I thought this was exceptionally good. Sixty stickers augment a variety of activities including matching, making paatterns, coloring, sequencing, series completion, comparing, grouping, mazes, etc. Illustrations are very colorful and show Caillou in a wide variety of situations. Notes to parents detail the skills involved on each page. Very nice activity book. We will definitely get more in this series for our next outing!

In this story, Caillou stays with a sitter while Mommy and Daddy go out to dinner together. It is a cute story, but I should mention a couple things. The sitter's name isn't the same as in the T.V. show (kids are sticklers for detail) and Rosie isn't in the book at all. Other than that, I think it's a very cute book and it deals with Caillou's feelings in a very open way. My daughter (2 1/2) didn't notice either of these details, but an older child might. She loves the book.

I found this book well documentedand presented.One of the few biographies on this great president that presents the facts in an unbiased straightforward way. It deserves space in every library in the country.

Our 2 year old son loves this book. This is the book he wants every night. He says "Truck, truck," and we know that it is this book that he wants.
