A "must" read book! Definitely an inspiration!
The author shares David's life with the reader very candidly. Through the author's writing I could identify with David. David's life is CLEARLY layed out. I now see that greatness is available to me through trusting in GOD. I related David's experiences with my life. I can see how David's mishaps in life where part of his healing. Trusting and believing in GOD to deliver him through the not so great moments in his life. Every chapter inspired hope. The author shows that despite all of David's setbacks, GOD is working things out in him. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is experiencing inner battles and seeking inner and outer victories.

A wonderful resource
This is an excellent book no matter where you are in your spiritual life. The "baby-Christian" all the way to seasoned preacher can pull important info away and apply it. If you can handle what Dr. Stanley throws out here, then, boy, you have it made. He challenges and encourages all the way through and also gives interesting examples that we can relate to.

Short, intense method for holy living.
This short book (80 pages) by Swindoll is one of the most practical books I have ever read. It will be difficult to practice, but if you want to establish a meaningful, full, devotional life, this may be the best thing you can get. It is profound in its simplicity. Gut wrenching in its difficulty to accomplish.

Get it, Read it, and obtain understanding.
Universalism is the belief that all people without exception will eventually receive God's love, grace, salvation, mercy, and election as sons of God. This theological concept is old, but has many new arguments. This book analyzes the doctrines and arguments of Universalism. It is the author's contention that many of the doctrines of Universalism are derived from the personal beliefs and desires of men, not from what God has said or done. The result is a religion of Humanism.
Topics include:
* History and Background.
* Racial Exclusiveness in the Bible.
* Did Moses marry a Black Woman?
* Universal Reconciliation.
* The Restitution of All Things.
* The Great Commission.
* Ruth the Moabite.
* The Samaritans.
* The Universal Church.
* To Whom was the Book of Galatians written?
A must read for all interested.

Want to REALLY understand the ministry of Jesus?
It is extremely difficult for 20th Century, western culture Americans to think as if we were first century, eastern culture Jews. Charles Page helps the reader to get as close as we are likely to get. His intimate familiarity with both the land of the Bible and the eastern culture of those who live there bring the words and deeds of Jesus to life for the reader. This is not a devotional book nor is it a ponderous scholarly tome. If, however, the reader is a serious student of the Bible or wants to more fully understand Jesus of Nazareth, this book is not to be missed.

The most accurate to the Bible book for children I've read
This book is great for parents to read with their children. It is very accurate to the actual Bible stories, but written in a way that children can understand. The questions at the end of each story help you to see if your child is understanding the details of the stories. I've looked at a lot of Bible story books for our nearly 3 year old and this is the best one I've found.

Singularly fascinating
Jesus Then & Now: Images Of Jesus In History And Christology edited by Marvin Meyer (Professor of Religious Studies at Chapman College) and Charles Hughes (Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Chapman College) is a singularly fascinating, college-level look at the artistic vision human beings have had of Jesus Christ throughout the ages. Jesus Then & Now does not limit itself to any era, or even to the religion of Christianity, for its also encompasses images and perceptions of Jesus in Judaism and Islam. Extensive annotation reflects the vast amount of scholarly research that has gone into this presentation of the myriad, often conflicting views of Jesus that have persisted through the ages. Jesus Then & Now is very highly recommended for both scholars and non-specialist general readers with a serious interest in the history of Christianity and evolving perspectives of Jesus Christ.

laugh again/experience outrageous joy
This is probably the best study of the book of Phillipians that I have ever read. It's easy to follow, brings out a perspective that is unique and insightful, and it speaks on a subject sorely needed in today's stressed-out world. Laugh Again is truly a self-help book good for the new millenium regardless of the original publishing date. Buy it for anyone you think needs some Outrageous Joy!
