Error
After reading most of this book, I would first like to say, that the only perfect man that ever walked the face of this earth,is our lord and saivor Jesus Christ, ones I found error in this book,I stop reading it. On page #62,Paul,quoting Joel, tells the glory of the Church in Acts two, this is not true. It was Peter, not Paul. But please don't believe me, Look for yourself. There may are may not be more, but this is the one,I found, this one is all I needed to see. Always keep both eyes open, seek ye the Truth. (AV1611) Forever.

Should The Title Of This Book Be Changed?
I would suggest that instead of spending your hard-earned money on this book that you instead invest it in a copy of "Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth" by C. I. Scofield which is also available from Amazon.

This book has proven to be a waste of time and money because the authors are "preterists" who mistakenly believe that all of the events described in the Book of Revelation took place between the years 33 A.D. and 70 A.D! If the book has any value at all it is because it will better accquaint you with the errors of preterism. "The Life And Errors Of The Westons And Other Preterists" would be a more appropriate title.

This book is worth reading
C.I. Scofield was a fine Christian man and pastor. He is a prime example of the difference Jesus Christ can make in one life. However, his writings, particular the notes in his Scofield Reference Bible, have exerted an influence far beyond Scofield's actual scholastic ability. Many Christians today hold the teachings of Scofield to be on part with the Scripture itself. However, the last time I checked, Scofield did not write any of the 66 books of the Bible.
This book does an adequate job of revealing that Scofield's theology is not without question. While some people equal questioning Scofield with questioning the Apostle Paul, this book does a good job of showing that Scofield's interpretation of Scripture is not the only one with merit. The book is not perfect, but it provides good food for thought. That is, assuming the reader does not equate second guessing Scofield with heresy.

The Lost Years of Jesus Revealed

Gnostic Arrogance
Dr. Potter's book is a joyful gloat that ancient texts were found that shed doubt on the deity of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Potter chastises "ignorant" fundamentalists everywhere for attributing the miracles of Christ to the power of God, rather than the power of the human mind. ...

Beware!
This book pretends to be an exploration into "the lost years of Jesus". Unfortunately for the reader the book digresses into a lengthy exploration of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The author condemns scroll research and promises "great revelations" as more of the scroll appears. This book is at least 20 years old, and as far as this reader is concerned, these revelations never came. The author jumps to many conclusions based upon the discoveries up until the book was written with inadequate documentation of his findings. This book was a disappointment to read with too many unfulfilled promises. The author's bold pronouncement that Jesus was a man and not the Son of God is merely the punchline to a poorly worded and developed joke.

Intriguing verification of historical reality
Potter's book does much to validate the historical Jesus though does not complement accepted traditional teachings. For inspiration I found R. Patton's "THE Autobiography" infinitely more satisfying. Potter has done a commendable job of collating factual information that doesn't unquestioningly swallow orhtodoxy. A valuable reference tool.

Not a true representation of Charles Haddon Spurgeon
This is another in a series of many "books" by C.H. Spurgeon published by Whitaker House. These Whitaker House titles are not actually books, but each chapter in each book is rather part of an individual sermon scotch-taped together in an effort to make them into a "book".

The result is very disappointing. Spurgeon was a brilliant theologian, a masterful preacher, and a beautiful writer. But Whitaker House has edited all these sermons in a weak and unsuccessful effort to make them "flow" throughout the book. As a result, the strong theology is lost in an effort to make the book more "inspirational", the masterful and logical exposition of scripture is removed to make the book "easier to read", and only the poetry of Spurgeon's writing style is preserved.

These Whitaker House titles are barely good for casual reading, and unfortunately they misrepresent the depth and breadth of Spurgeon's excellent sermons. Don't be fooled by these edited versions! If you really want to know Spurgeon, read Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit or several other Spurgeon titles published by Banner of Truth and avoid these watered-down books.
