Teeny Tiny Woman
This short English fairy tale is loved by my upper level special education students. The familiar text, great story make it appealing to them. I have used this as a reader's theater to help with fluency.

One of my favorites!!
This book is so much fun! The words are silly, witty, and giggly, too! The illustrations are rendered naively, yet theyre flawless. This book is a true peek into a child's world.

Great story, wonderful pictures
My child loves this book. We have been reading it almost every day since we got it. The book has a very engaging structure - counting to 10 - and it leads up to a not too scary climax with a Halloween "monster" that is very thrilling. The rhythm of the book makes it pleasing to read, and the illustrations are great: both colorful and amusing.

My Son and His Friends Can't Get Enough of This Book!
This is a cute Haloween story about a little witch and warlock going to a Haloween party. Each page has a few lines of text, great child-like illustrations, and an interactive activity for the reader to do.

My toddler loves to read this book so much that one of his first recognizable phrases was asking to read "Dare You." He and his friends love the repetition, the fun illustrations, and pretending to find things scary when they're really not (such as a smiling skeleton hiding behind a grave stone). Different pages appeal to him at different times (now one of his favorite pages is the scratch-and-sniff stinky stew which he used to race past because he couldn't wait to get to the little pet bat that can be taken out of his cage).

My son's favorite feature of the book, though, is the removable "Book of Spells by Herman Wells," a tiny cardboard book of only a few pages and no words, but hysterically funny illustrations indicating how the reader might turn a cat into a tiger. We have to read the book of spells at least two or three times before he can be coaxed into returning it to its little pocket. Then we return the bat to his cage and say good-bye to George and Griselda until the next reading.

At first I wondered about the subject matter, but this is presented so innocently and playfully, and as a Haloween story, that I don't give it a second thought now.

In addition to learning to do all the activities and put the removable items back where they belong, reading this book has taught my toddler a lot about books and the pure joy that they can bring. And because he loves this book so much, he really works hard at being gentle with it--a difficult thing at his age.

We are sorry to hear this title is out of print. We were hoping to buy copies to give as gifts.

Halloween Fun For the Very Young
This bright, fun-filled picture book is the perfect introduction to Halloween customs for little ones, ages 2-5. It is printed on sturdy tagboard-like stock, so though not an indestructable board book, it is still very durable. It features a girl mouse named Little Mouse who is learning all about the festivities of Halloween from her parents. Through the use of clever lift-up flaps we see before and after pictures of the carving of a jack-o-lantern. We look inside a closet and a trunk to find Halloween costumes. We knock on the neighbor's door and it is opened by a friendly lady mouse with candies. We even get to go through the door of the bakery downtown and are treated to a nice cookie. The grocerman mouse opens his door to give us a bright shiny apple. Best of all, when we open Little Mouse's own front door there is a surprise trick from Mama Mouse. The drawings and text are very simple but are filled with curiosity and wonderment and the excitement of a first-time Halloween experience as seen through the eyes of a little one. I highly, highly recommend sharing this book with your child before the big day arrives to help dispell any confusing scary parts of the holiday and to encourage anticipation and lots of fun.

What Rhymes With Eel?
This book is an excellent way to introduce rhyming to children. Studies show that the ability to identify and create rhymes is important to learning to read successfully. I use this book every year in my kindergarten classroom. Is there any way to encourage publishers to keep it in print?

Works like a charm
A manners book that my two year old enjoys. It really works, too My son never tries to play with anything on the table anymore, especially not the salt! Whenever he needs a reminder about his manners all I have to do is mention Scooter and he smiles and behaves. The best manners book I have read so far!

The screen went blank....
This is the best children's book that I've read in ages. You don't have to just take my word for it though, it is so good that Fred Rogers also read it on his show.

The story deals with what a little boy does when the family television breaks and has to be taken to the shop. At first he is absolutely lost since he spends his entire life in front of the tv, seven days a week. All he can do is ask his mother, over and over, if it is fixed yet? Slowly, however, he starts to do other things. He starts to read books. Then, he starts to use his imagination and actually create things on his own. By the last page he has actually created an entire world for himself- and hardly notices when the tv is brought back.

After reading this little classic you might just be tempted to break the television for yourself....

Great fun for little ones.
It was even hard for me to spot the car in this "lift the flap" book! My daughter (Age 4) has looked at this book over and over, and does not tire of it. This book gives little ones a glimpse of where daddy is when he is not at home. Really cute short story. "Where is Mommy's Truck?" is the same type of story, also very good.

Ghoulish fun for little ones!
Friendly ghouls hide behind sturdy flaps to delight, not scare, the youngest readers. The rhyming text is rich with repetitive sounds and sights of a halloween night spent trick-or-treating. It is a holiday book which will delight young readers long after Halloween. Ziefert and Demarest make a wonderful pair as author and illustrator; the book flows flawlessly. It is captivating to young minds without scaring them!
