a true work of art
This is an excellent book about the life of a real man and the system that failed him as it fails so many of us. The lengths that this man goes to do the right thing are to be admired. The book is very real but yet unbelievable at the same time. The story is a sad one, but the fact that the author is willing to share such a dark side of his life is proof that there is hope. This story is one that had to be told and one that we have to learn from. It is a story that has to be told, shared with others. There are men out there worthy of being called "Fathers". Our children's lives are so fragile, that we must do all we can to hold them together. Byron Bailey did the best he could under extreme circumstances and against a system that needs to be changed. I only wish there were more people like him in this world. Maybe the world would be a better place.

a must read
The story that unfolds in this book is unbelievable. Once you start reading this book, you won't be able to stop.

WONDERFUL!
I read and reread this book so many times as a "preteen"........the characters are wonderful and lovable, hilarious...I am sorry to see that the sequels to this are no longer in print...what a shame. This is an excellent, absorbing book for younger adolescents.

Wonderfully written!
There cannot possibly be a book about the history of science that explains everything more clearly than this one does. It is an enticing work which I think anyone interested in the sciences would definitely enjoy. Glimpses of Reality is an interesting work which can be read both for school and simply for pleasure.

Wonderful and Informative
Professor Wall does a wonderful job of providing the reader with a complete history of science and the method of science. The evolution of scientific theory starts off with the beginning of man and takes you into the world of the ancient greeks upto the world of genetics. If one has ever wondered about the history of science this is the book to read! By the way he's my professor at York University and he's amazing.

All is right with the world
How many times I read this book to my children! The very youngest child can understand the story line and appreciate the repetetive text (which you can edit easily for your own sanity, if necessary). We are introduced to the little chick, his mother, and his home. Danger enters the chick's world in the form of a black, hissing cat, but Mom shields the chick with her big brown wing, and clucks the cat out of the picture. The chick meets a big frog and even falls into the pond and gets wet -- which little children think is terrifically funny. The bright, colorful pictures appeal to the very young and are easy on the adult eye. It doesn't sound like much, but it ends up being a very rich, warm experience to share this book with a little one. My 13 year old saw it today, and went through it with a bg grin on his face; which is why I checked to see if it was still in print. Thankfully, you can enjoy it with children you love, too.

Good Morning, Chick
This is a wonderful book for small children. They will love the main character, the chick, and his adventures. The reader will also enjoy the book and the reaction of the child listening to the story. Very cute and easy to understand. A wonderful introduction to learning about chicks and their mothers.

Realism is great!
Byron's photographs display the beauty of the female form in a very realistic fashion. Rather than the body make-up and augmentation characterizing women in other publications, these photographs show the real form in a tasteful and unique way. The subjects include slightly older women, demonstrating that mature women are quite beautiful. The 3-D photos at the end truly complete the picture.

Not just another figure book
I gave this book to my husband as a Valentine's gift and he was thrilled. The moving pictures or 'flip scenes' are great. Multiple exposure shots or whatever they are are fascinating! The old-time stereo or 3D shots are something that hasn't been available for years - but these are better than anything I've seen before!! Great book, great pictures, and a coffee table book that grabs everyone's interest and never fails to start a group discussion. Superb!

A sparkling gem
The Ashtavakra Gita, as translated by Thomas Byrom, is a highly polished gem of wisdom. An ancient, anonymously composed song, it illuminates the deepest wisdom of the Buddhist and Advaita traditions. In poetic form, it is an inspiration to be enjoyed again and again.

A fresh, original translation.
Byrom's translation of the Ashtavakra Gita, a classic Hindu text considered to be written by an enlightened master, is amazing reading. One gets the feeling that the words themselves do not exist, but that a direct transmission from a master is occurring. An absolute must-read for anyone on the non-dual spiritual path, Hindu, Buddhist or whomever, but especially recommended to Western followers of the path of Advaita Vedanta (nondual Hinduism).

Grandma and her little cho cho love this book!
My Grandson, at age 2 years and 9 months picked this out because of the picture on the cover. I thought he wouldn't understand and enjoy it because of the British expressions. Was I ever wrong! He loves it and I love reading it to him. After two days he was playfully using the expression "I'll be in a pickle for sure" and telling his mother he had swallowed some thunder after eating some corn. Now two months later, I was surprised that he has practically memorized the book (the first six pages completely - and there are a lot of words, many of them quite unusual, on those six pages. He often suggests we "tidy up the cottage". Mother Holly is a great help with learning good behavior and, even after all the excitement, he usually goes to sleep when the cat does.

FELINE FANCIERS WILL LOVE THIS!
Cat lovers, rejoice! Here's another paean to our favorite feline pet. Schachner's illustrations are hysterical as cat gets into all the mischief anyone can imagine - from tangling in the thread of his mistress's spinning wheel to climbing into the cupboard and creating chaos among the crockery.

Never one to clean up his own messes, cat considers housework and pushing a broom "weary" work (we agree). Nonetheless, in Mother Holly's absence he spills the soup, and while trying to clean up turns the kitchen into a duck pond. He also releases feathers from a quilt, and makes a myriad of messes.

Nonetheless, Mother Holly dotes on her pet, just as we do on ours. Animal lovers have found a kindred soul.

Buy, customers, buy!
I was SO glad when this came back in print. This is a cumulative tale a la "House that Jack Built". You can get the children chanting "Jump Frog Jump!" in a few pages. Barton's bright folk-like illustrations fit right in.

A Fantastic Book for young readers!!!!!!
As a teacher and an aunt I highly recommend this book which is a favorite with the kids! It's easy for them to memorize the lines and follow the words (a great skill to develop while learning how to read). A fantastic addition to any child's library of books!

MY Son's Love This Book
I picked this up at a rummage sale and it was unopened, I just knew it would be added to the rest of the books just sitting on the shelf waiting to be read. When I popped the CD in and played it, my boys went crazy over it. My 3 year old sat at the computer and played it over and over and over. My 1 1/2 year old danced to the music and laughed at the colorful characters dacing on the screen. The colors are so vivid and the illustration is amazing, not to mention the great message that this book is sending to our young ones about pollution. This was my first experience with Sarah Weeks, and I must say it has left a lasting impression and I have already ordered some more of her books from Amazon.

Little Factory--Loved by Little Kids
My students LOVED the Little Factory..and of course, we sing along. They ask to sing it again and again. Since the melody/rhythm/text can get difficult for them to follow sometimes, they especially love the "La-Dee-Da" parts where they can't miss singing the right words. And when we discuss the "pollution" issues, they know what we're talking about since this is a topic in most curriculums. Use this book with children. I'm buying copies for my young relatives to sing along, too.
