A magnificent pictoral narrative of the great liners.
For those interested in the great ocean liners that plied the seas (and to a limited extent still do), this book is a must. It is very oversized and has utterly engrossing photos and narratives of the liners starting with the sailing ships of the late 19th century and ending with QE2 and France.

The search for dinosaurs (time machine 2)
This book is great. It is about you, as a time traveller. As with all the time machine series, you have to choose between several options as you travel back in time to the age of the dinosaurs. Your choise provides your destiny, can you complete the mission, or, as the publishers so well put it, "are you ready to face the danger?".

an ebook you can play like a game!
Historically accurate and yet enticingly entertaining, this ebook lets you 'travel through time' in a branching story that lets you pick the event to happen next. An interesting spin on interactivity that actually looks good on pc and pocket pc alike.

A revelation that should not be kept secret
For those interested in John's true message, reading this will be easy. For those who find it hard at first, the blessing is at the completion of the book. John wrote in code, other authors, meaning well, added their on distortions. The true revelation is a revelation of the past, present and future. It is encouraging for those of us living today and a promise of a better future that rings true to heart. Stella has done a marvelous work with care, love and respect. Learn of what is taking place today, something that you surely will not want to miss!

Best Giant Pandas in the Wild Photography Book sofar
Stunningly Beautiful Photos of giant pandas in their natural environment. In addition, to photos of pandas along streams, in the snow, climbing trees, with their young, or eating bamboo, there are also rare time sequenced photos of a giant panda leaping/jumping in the wild (p40,41,62,63). There are also some very cute photos of baby giant pandas (p46-55,69). Of particular note are the essays by Dr. Hu Jinchu who is a professor of biology and director of The Rare Animals Research Institute of Nanchong Teacher's College, the director of the China Wildlife Conservation Association, and the co-author of the scientifically ground breaking book "The Giant Pandas of Wolong" with George B. Schaller, et al. Understandably, the conservation information is dated, for example when the book was publish it listed only 12 giant panda reserves ( now there are 33 nature reserves where there are giant pandas ). The only real complaint that I would have is that some photos are split between two pages - I would have preferred to not have any of these photos split in two.

A Portal Poet
George Gordon (Lord Byron) should be at the top of every eighteen-year-old schoolboy's list. He certainly was mine. If any human being ever summed up better what it was to be a misfit, romantic, self-centered spirit, I would give money to that individual gladly, as well as an eternal endowment. Having come across "Childe Harold," as well as "Childe Harold Revisited," and the supremely Promethean, Miltonic, "Manfred," at that tender age, I felt myself the principal target of Byron's message. With a healthy dose of Ayn Rand and Aldous Huxley to back me up, all I needed was Manfred's craggy peaks to provide the dramatic backdrop for my Napoleonic, Nietzschean ruminations. Throw in a bit of Emerson, Thoreau, Whitman and Carlyle, and you have the perfect romantic in embryo, which I was at that age and which I believe is a healthy larval stage for any human spiritual entity at that stage, be it either male or female. Add a dash of Melville, any Bronte you choose and a touch of the Baghavad Gita, the Upanishads, the I-Ching, the book of Tao, and you have a convert to esoteric, at times misguidedly solipsistic, hippy philosophy. That was me.
So if you are seventeen or eighteen, don't overlook the romantics who are the necessary guides to our enlightenment at that impressionable age. I in no manner mean this disparigingly, as I now consider myself at least semi-enlightened, if only in the strictest, literary sense. Follow Keats, Shelley, Byron, Blake, Wordsworth, Goethe, Schiller, Carlyle, Melville, and Emerson to the ends of the earth. They shall take you there and beyond.

Enlightening
What a great book! It is intelligent, scholarly, obviously well-thought out, and interesting. I've always been a fan of Byron, and didn't realize how much his friendship with Shelley influenced his poetry. This book got me interested in Shelley's poetry, too, and he is now one of my favorites. I loved it.

From the Little ones to the BIG ones.....
If you like reading about the history of autos and like station wagons in particular, you will enjoy this book. It covers the normal wagons, woodies, the little ones and the big ones, plus some of the odd ball designs. One of the best I have found on station wagons.

Excellent for engineering students
After desperately searching for a good book in statistical estimation theory in the library I found this book to be an excellent resource and worth buying. It has easy explanations and the examples help one better understand the material. It covers both estimation and detection theory. This book is probably best for the engineering student that is more concern with applying the concepts than deriving theorems.
