It includes the original notes to *Vathek* (the 1816 version) and *The Giaour* and presents them as they were intended to be presented: in separate sections following each work. Editorial glosses and footnotes, on the other hand, are at the bottom of each page--my students, who don't like hunting for endnotes, tell me this makes a real difference for them. In addition to the three main works, *Three Oriental Tales* includes a sample from *The Arabian Nights* and Oriental tales from *The Spectator*, Johnson's *Rambler*, Goldsmith's *Citizen of the World* (Letter 33, an Orientalist send-up of Orientalism), and the complete text of Maria Edgeworth's "Murad the Unlucky." An excellent rendition of early TX history through a compilation of first hand accounts of trail drivers or their spouses or descendants. Since the accounts were either written or spoken there are frequent misspellings of names such as the Dietert Brothers of Boerne, TX, and Wenzel Friedrich of San Antonio Horn furniture fame, but the reader can find through this with some research efforts. Much history of the people, places, times, and conditions given as individual recollections serve as an excellent source of reference. Forturnately, the Trail Drivers Association in conjuction with the author foresaw the importance of such an endeavor before this important history would be lost as these people inevitably would die off. I feel the book is a tremendously interesting book! I accidentally stumbled on it in Boerne, TX, in the library and was so excited when I found a copy for myself in hardback, though also available in paperback.

I highly recommend this book because nonprofit board work is not easy, and the author did not try to make it easy simply by giving me a model or formula to follow. In fact, his model, called the engagement model, invites me to accept the challenge to color outside the lines when it comes to traditional board roles, to harmonize all our decisions with our mission and vision, and to take on a mantle of professionalism that allowed me to see immediately what was missing in my work as a board member.

Trucks and Trains are my 2 1/2 year old son's favorite books. The books have colorful pictures and the words are easy for children to memorize. The collection with the wheeled case makes a wonderful gift. I'm buying two more for birthday presents. I've seen the same set for $14 elsewhere!

Then read this book from the 1890's written by a descendant of Elizabeth Foster, one member of the curious Devonshire menage-a-trois. There are letters from two-hundred years ago that tell a first hand account of events in Miss Foreman's book. They are fascinating and you meet many famous people of the day first hand, including Melbourne, Byron, George IV and Fox. I can't wait to read the modern day version of Elizabeth's story which can be found in Caroline Chapman's new book telling the story of Elizabeth Foster: 'Elizabeth and Georgiana: The Duke of Devonshire and His Two Duchesses' which has just been published. For any one who has not yet read about the Beautiful Duchess, her best friend and her husband it's about time you did. Vere Foster's book is essential reading, especially if you want to get an overview of the subjects of two very important eighteenth century figures and subjects of at least one brilliant modern bestselling biography. Read this and then read the two modern biographies and find out the truth!

I got this book 3 years ago, and every now and then I still go back to read it again. Some of the stories in here I could read forever, and apparently one author, Joanne Bertin, just came out with her first novel, based on the world in this book. Her story, "Dragonlord's Justice," is my favorite in this book, and can't wait to read her novel.

As a person who reads constantly, I can tell you first hand that this book has put together one of the best collection of stories in one book that I have ever bought, it is well worth [the amount].

We checked this book out of the library for son, who will soon be three years old, and it is now one of his all-time favorite books. I just dropped into Amazon.com to order him a copy of the book for his very own.

There are almost no words in the book, just enough to help you figure out what's going on. You and your child provide your own story as you turn the pages. My son can tell the whole story himself now and gets very excited as we get closer and closer to the page where the bear appears. He really thinks he's "reading" and asks for this book again and again.
