Weak book on solitaire
Interesting collection
This book has a nice assortment of games, but despite the illustrations and descriptions, many games are left unplayable unless you are comfortable improvising your own rules. I have to use a secondary source to gain a clearer understanding of the play and objectives.
Solid Collection of One Person Games
This book makes no attempt to be comprehensive in its listing of solitaire games, but the games it does describe are described in large print, with diagrams, and examples for the games that are not so obvious. This was useful to me as some of the more comprehensive books (and web-sites) keep the directions minimal. Certainly a good buy at this price.

Content issues
My high school history class uses this book, and I'm very disappointed with it. I have not noticed any outright mistakes, but the authors tend to imply things that aren't quite true. Take one of their statements from a chapter on the presidency: "Despite their unhappy experience with George III, the creators of the American political system perceived the need for a single person to serve as both the symbol and the leader of the new nation, and so they created the presidency" (87). They go on to talk about the powers granted the president by the Constitution, conveniently ignoring the Articles of Confederation. This type of oversight is common in the book, as are the poor placement and the overuse of footnotes. And the authors' use of exclamation points is amusing. ("Ford had not even been elected vice president but had been appointed to the office by the now deposed Nixon less than a year earlier to replace Spiro T. Agnew, who had been forced to resign when evidence emerged that he had taken illegal payoffs while vice president!" (89).)
As a high school student, I am certainly not qualified to judge this book. When a person as unschooled as I catches problems with a book, however, I worry that there are other problems--deeper problems--that slip by unnoticed.

This book is the Assignments edition.
This book is a supplement to the textbook. It doesn't say it is the Assignments version on your website. You really should add that into the title.

Zero stars?
A ridiculous attempt to appear as a master "scholar" of English studies. Thuman casts a superficially critical eye on a number of the leading figures in rhetoric and composition, and the result is just one more dull book-report. Enough of these useless tomes, already.

Is it realy worth it/
I just purshed the book and I found it to be a waste of money. The classroom or the student can find them selves just fine without it. Do not buy it if you don't have to. YOu can always reuse someone else's code..........and the disk is just a regular floppy disk that can be formated.

Beware!!!!
If you want to read the Spy Novels by John Le Carre - don't buy this ebook!! This book is an analytical essay by Myron J. Aronoff with as its full title "The spy novels of John le Carré: balancing ethics and politics. Amazon.com should be far more specific in its description about this catalogue item. It is not what it seems to be.

to anyone but a collector -- there are much better books
in print, such as Morehead and Mott-Smith's "The Complete
Book of Solitaire and Patience Games" or Parlett's
"Teach Yourself Card Games for One". Barry claims to
have selected the best games in her book, but it is still
littered with junk like Auld Lang Syne (a virtually
unwinnable game with no skill). The descriptions are
often incomplete and occasionally wrong (her description
of Pyramid, allowing cards to be used a second time after
being discarded, is nonsensical). She describes Storehouse
as a minor variant of Canfield; it's actually a forerunner
where cards are packed in suit. She rates games by
amount of space used (an interesting feature) and level
(it's not clear if this is supposed to be win rate, in
which case many of the ratings are wrong, or something
else). Myron Miller's illustrations are nice, but the
book has little else to recommend it, either in selection
of games, or clarity and accuracy.
