BRILLIANT
There is very little that can be improved in Greenberg's. Superb detail is it's strongest point. Even though its a handbook, so much information has been packed into it. The new one volume format is also far more convenient. Beautiful design. My only complaint: the binding needs some serious attention. I wish it was of better quality. But at least it doesn't have the worst binding of all, currently plaguing many American medical handbooks - the ridiculous, short -lasting, UGLY comb (ring) binding. I've lost more pages than I can remember in my ring bound books.

Concise and practical
Greenberg's "Handbook of Neurosurgery" is a well writen, concise and practical reference manual for the use of the non-neurosurgeon who has to deal with neurosurgical patients and their unique problems. As a part of my postgraduate trainig I worked in a Neurotrauma ward, both with brain injured and spinal injured patients. So, my knowledge of Neurosurgery was lacking. However, as I purchased this book I became more familiar with the general principles and practice of Neurosurgery.

However lacking in regard to Neuroimaging and surgical techniques, Greenberg's "Handbook of Neurosurgery" provides excelent chapters of neurointensive care, drug use, dosages and side effects, clinical tests of value, as well as comprehensive analysis of the diseases and disease processes encountered.

About Wong Hong's comment..
I disagree. There are TOO many handbooks out there which simply aren't worth the paper their published on because they aren't detailed enough. Writing a handbook is no excuse not to be thorough - it is a reason to be direct. I'd rather pocket a good handbook that is a little thicker, than a slim volume that simply is not comprehensive enough about its subject matter.

Can't go wrong here...
This book was quite a trip through fantasy. To be able to step out of this world, even for a short time, and experience the world of knights and wizards we read about in other fantasy novels would be a treat. Mr. Simmons has given us a way to at least imagine exactly that to be possible. The mix of the silly/familiar characters found here and there through out adds a perfect humor to keep you guessing from page to page. In short; of the dozens of books I read while trying to stay cool in 130 degree heat (in the shade), dodging sand storms, and hoping a SCUD wasn't about to land on my head, THIS book was the only one I brought home with me. I can't wait to get into the "Chronicles." Thanx a TON Mark.!!

I have held it
Alright gang, I have held the hard bound copy of Dreamland Chronicles in my hands. Then Mark took it back. It was for the reviewers to write about. But it is real I have seen it. It does exist. It is coming so be patient. Also read everything in it including the footnotes and the footnotes to the footnotes. They are hysterical. This man is a wonderful and witty writer. Very clever and subtle. He is just so darn witty.
Also He has a wonderful speaking voice but that is beside the point. Wait and the Book will soon be in your hands too, and for keeps.

An inventive, fast-paced blend of sci-fi and fantasy
Take a dash of The Matrix, a pinch of Grimm Fairy Tales, a smattering of Dungeons and Dragons, as well as a heavy dose of humor, and you have something approaching 'In the Net of Dreams'.
It's filled with memorable characters and settings, all viewed through the cynical eye of it's hero, Robert Remington Ripley III, who lets you know he's aware how ridiculous the situations he keeps getting dropped into are. It's a book that's more entertaining, funnier, and smarter than it's component parts.

It's a shame Wm. Mark Simmons has never gotten wider recognition for this series.

The 'business' of 'show business' explained
One thing that isn't taught that much at film schools is how many contracts are generated and how much time you spend negotiating deals. Our first film is still in post-production (April 2003) and we already have a filing cabinet filled with contracts and paperwork. I wish this book had been available when we started production. The chapter on delivery requirements alone is worth every penny. In it you'll find out what a distributor will want along with your film. Don't forget the still photographer on the set and behind the scenes! Great and easy read, too.

Bravo!
The Independent Film Producer's Survival Guide is the most practical and concrete text on the Hollywood deal-making process that I have read to date. Its succinct presentation of the independent film business-legal process is welcome. Many of the real-world examples of independent producers struggling to secure the deal are thought provoking and encouraging. I believe that any independent film producer who reads and applies the information contained in the Survival Guide can only win. Film schools should seriously consider adding this publication to their list of reference texts.

If you are a filmmaker you MUST buy this book!!!
This book not only lays down everything you need to make and sell an independent film but even provides you with the forms and contracts to do it with! It is a very easy read and the experience these authors have in unsurpassed in the film industry so listen to what they have to say!

AN INSPIRATION TO TARANTINO?
One of the most interesting - and funniest - books I've ever read, and certainly by far the best on masculinity. I especially enjoyed the masterpiece chapter on the movie 'Top Gun' which completely convincingly interprets it as a gay movie and shows how Cruise's real interest is Val Kilmer not Kelly McGillis.

Shortly after this book was published Quentin Tarantino appeared in a film called 'Sleep With Me' arguing this exact point. I wonder if he had a copy of Simpson's book in his dressing-room?

GUSTO AND WIT - John Ashbery Review
"Mark Simpson detects and dissects the myths of machismo and its attendant media circus with refreshing gusto and wit."'

INTELLECTUAL ORGASMS - Margi Clarke Review
"Like me this book plays with men. Provocative, irreverent, acerbic and witty, it offers one gigantic intellectual orgam after another." - Margi Clarke

Mark Twain Remembers: A Novel

Mark Twain Remembers
"Mark Twain Remembers" is one of the best books I have read in quite a while. It is entertaining, sensitive, creative and beautifully written. It is remarkable how Mr. Hauser, who is well known for his sports writing, could write a book of such delicate poetry. I loved it and I would recommend it to anyone. Bravo, Mr Hauser.

Mark Twain comes back to life!
Mark Twain Remembers arrived in the mail and I hungrily devoured it, savoring every morsel of its clever prose and intriguing personalities. But I am not sated, just sad that the book is finished, and will seek out other books authored by Thomas Hauser. Deliberately trying to prolong my pleasure and immersion into the life of Samuel Clemens, not wanting it to end, I attempted to put off reading its end, but was compelled to. His outlook on life and love drew me into his world, enabling me to view it differently than ever before. I am richer for having had this experience. Not ordinarily a fan of boxing books, the sense of humanity portrayed in the fight sequence sparked my imagination. The courage displayed by Bones as he fought against slavery was memorable. I read with bated breath awaiting the climax (which I won't reveal lest I ruin it for you!). This extraordinary, compelling book is full of gems as it exposes the cruel as well as compassionate side of human nature. It is so human a story. I was mesmerized.

Hauser proves to be one of our generation's best novelists
"Mark Twain Remembers" is an absolute joy to read. A rich, full and quite-imaginative romp through one of the most interesting periods in US history, as ostensibly-seen through the eyes of Samuel Clemens. His use of Don King as a model for the Hiram Kane character is--at turns-- brilliant, and wildly-satiric. Just a fantastic read for both fans of boxing and Americana.

These tapes lifesaver for financial professional!
A map to avoid the land mines for such financial professionals as CPA's, lawyers, insurance agents, financial planners and related consultants. Here's a six hour seminar on how to stay in the swim and build a business with more money under management. What are the three biggest problems with your company? If fixed, what's the financial impact over one year's time? Typical problem: each client wants consistent superior performance with stocks. Who can deliver that? These tapes constitute an esssential lifesaver for any financial professional.

Provides a systematic and logical approach for finanical pro
Mark Matson provides a systematic and logical approach for the financial professional in his audio tape series Mind over Money. He finds a way to prudently streamline the rigorous investment process while not pushing a product. Mind over Money provides good solid information and time proven techniques that allow the financial professional to do what's right for their company and MORE importantly what's right for their clients.

It's a clear useful tool not just a product being hyped.
I found Mind over Money to be a useful tool to developing my company. When I first bought it I thought it might be more hype trying to sell financial help. But clearly Mark Matson is interested in sharing the recipe he has used to develop a hughely successful financial firm. He has diagnosed methods to get on the same team as technology. Until now I always seemed to be the enemy of, and intimidated by, new technology. Now I understand how to use it to my advantage and even my profit. Its great to be a technolgoy teammate! I recommend to any veteran in the financial field to listen to this tape series. Matson points out the "cycles" (what I call the "same old rut") I was trapped in and because of listening to it I have escaped some of my old ruts and moved into more porfitable areas. Thanks Amazon.com and Mind over Money for a fresh clear look at the all to often merky and confusing financial world.

Beautiful cards and artwork
This was my first (and only) Tarot deck purchase. Not comfortable with the "darker" elements of some Tarot decks, I chose this book and card set because of the magical artwork portraying fairy tales. I'm the type of person that needs to let my inner child come out and play more, and these cards allow me to tap into Archetypal energies of Myth and Story. They feature elements from The Wizard of Oz, Fairy Tales like Beauty and Beast, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapuntzel, Midas, The Emperor's New Clothes, etc.

I highly recommend them!

Beautiful!
I received my first Tarot deck 20 years ago and I have been looking for a new deck for 2 or 3 years. Nothing really impressed me enough to make a purchase until I saw these cards; I bought them immediately after only seeing a few of the pictures. I have not been disappointed; they are beautiful. I have used them several times with friends and everyone's reaction is the same: enchantment. These cards are perfect for working with children and for working with adults who haven't forgotten the magic and wonder of myths, legends and fairy tales.

Most Insightful Tarot Deck
I have used this deck for both Psychic Faires and for personal use. It is most helpful in drawing out inner psychic awareness without having experienced tarot readers relying on preset ideas of what specific cards are "supposed" to mean. My only complaint is that the oversized cards often make it difficult to carry on a daily basis. Best deck I have found to date!!

A very good read.
I just so happen to pick this gem up at a library book sale. I never heard of the book, nor the author but it's title alone intrigued me, since I myself has been involved in an interracial relationship for the past 5 years (and counting :-)
This was a very moving as well as an enlightening book. I definitely recommend this for anyone pursuing an interracial relationship or even considering one. Actually I recommend this book to everyone, after all we are all of one race, and that race is called humanity.

LOVE IS COLOR BLIND
This is one of my favorite books. I actually met the authors during their promotion of this book and I have a signed copy. This story is so moving, only those of us in interracial relationships and marriages truly understand the struggles and obstacles this couple faced and how they triumphed. This book helped make me strong and face all of those obstacles that I was afraid of. My marriage is a strong one, it has lasted 12 years! Gail wrote a very touching statement in her signing of my copy of this book: "Celebrate the love you share". I have never forgotten to do exactly that!

Beautiful Story
The story of a white lady who marries a black South African immigrant, this story is a very genuine, heartfelt account of two people from two different cultures who cross the race line and despite all the odds against them, have a very loving and successful marriage. Everyday trials are emphasised as well as the cultural problems, "going public", reactions from black women, and so on. Each chapter has two parts: Gail's point of view and Mark's point of view. It is a very interesting book not only for mixed-ethnicity marriages, but for everyone else as well. Highly recommended.

Excellent gift for the Y2K team or party favour.
This is a great gift to give your working team spending the midnight hour at the office on Dec. 31, 1999. A multitude of ideas to move them into celebration and future success. I particularly like the Community section that offers such genuine ideas for involvement.

Creative & Inspirational Ideas for the millennium!
This book is filled with more ideas and activities than anyone could possibly do in the next millennium, but it sure would be fun at least trying to do some of them!

Just reading the book infused me with energy and optimism and a true sense of the importance of the beginning of a new century. More importantly, though, it reminded me of some of the simple "rules" to follow in order to live a life filled with light.

As a teacher, this will be a valuble resource in the classroom. Talk about some exciting journal topics and exciting projects! When we get back to school January 3rd, my students are going to create a millennium slogan and a millennium contest. Guess what the winners are going to receive? Yes, a copy of this book!

Great Stocking Stuffer for All Ages
What a fun book! I especially enjoyed some of the more thoughtful ideas which can be applied throughout one's life. This is a really good gift book for clients...not too personal, and full of a wide range of things anyone can do to make the new millennium a new start.
