Mallowcups For Marsha
I finally got this book to see what the fuss was all about.

You know the part in Shawshank Redemption, where Tim Robbins comes out and stands in the rain? That's what this book was to me. Pure saturating relief. This is it, this is what we're looking for when we're looking for God. We want things we recognize. We want to be able to say, I knew He was like that all along, I just knew. Marsha Marks has selected 101 times He has intersected her days and has put them in a prose so delightful and enjoyable I wish it was 1001 things.

Kids came running to see what I was laughing about when I read some parts. I'm glad that's what Marsha did with this little volume, she made God to be an everyday deal, with all the joy and hilarity and yeah, heartache it means. Thanks, Marsha. I'd share a pack of Mallowcups with you.

Like a chocolate raisin
This was the best gift I gave at Christmas. Everybody loved it. It was touching, insightful and hysterical. I use it as a regular reference whenever I need some extra encouragement, laughter or hope. It's like eating a chocolate raisin, it always leaves you wanting more.

Funny As Well As Thought Provoking
Not being a fan of preachy religious books, I must say that I loved this quick read. The author shares hilarious life stories in such a way that makes faith less threatening. If you like Anne Lamont, then you'll love this woman's writing too. It reads like a sitcom with pieces of theology offered along the way. Can't wait to read more!

A Historical Document
Using the mixture of photography, facts and quotes, 101st Airborne: The Screaming Eagles At Normandy, can serve as a great historical document. Within the pages of this great book, eye-catching photographs bring to light those events from World War II and the Normandy Invasion. The actions and reactions of the soldiers that fought in that war are caught forever through the historical eye of a camera, through famous and infamous quotes and accounts of the heroes from World War II.

The pages show the heightened moral and anticipation of the men prior to the invasion. Then the reader is brought into the middle of the battle with stories and quotes not just eye-opening photographs. This technique brings you side by side with the people of the villages and into the ranks of the soldiers marching off to fight another battle. I believe one of the best chapters is the true story of the movie 'Saving Private Ryan'. This chapter, Saving Sergeant Niland, shows the true-life drama of a man that Hollywood has made famous.

The book brings to light some of the things that are never seen in movies and footage of events of the war. I am sure that this book, as well as its predecessor The 101st Airborne at Normandy, will bring back memories of the way it was behind the lines during that part of the war to those who served. Even though there is a predecessor to this book both stand independent of each other.

Things I didn't know
Outragous book, my father was in this book and I had to call him to recount the details to me first hand. Because of this book, I now know more of the war my father fought in.

Geronimo!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. If not for anything else, buy it for the photos! The author used personal photos taken clandestinely by various 101st AB veterans during the campaign, many in color. I also liked the mix of contemporaneous as well as current day photos to put the events in their proper perspective. I recommend this book to all Screamin' Eagle followers, as well as others such as re-enactors and WWII history buffs.

Great book
This was a wonderfull book. I was very Sceptical at first but I think it just might save our marrige

Quick Read, Good Information
While I don't know if this will save my relationship or not. Unfortunately, I may have waited too long to try. That said, I believe it WILL help me in the future (whether it's in my current relationship or a future one). It also helped me to better understand where the problems REALLY started. I like the analogy to pillars but I think chemistry is more a platform on top of the pillars because if any of the others start to crumble, chemistry quickly follows. (but that's just one humble opinion) I like the way the book is organized because it made for a quick easy read and while I didn't formally do the exercises at the end of each chapter, I read through them and think about them.

The Best Guide Ever to Bring Back Love and Loving
Dr. Goulston's book made so much sense to my husband, felt so right to me, and was extremely doable for both of us. It helped us recognize when and where the great things disappeared from our life and more importantly gave us a way to bring them back. Skeptical as were, this book really can help you to fall back in love again and stay there.

Adventures of Samurai Cat

List of Sections, With Quotes
This book is the first and best in the series, and contains the following sections:

KATEMUSHA
---------
In feudal Japan, loyal samurai Miaowara Tomokato returns from a family visit to find his lord dead in a scene of destruction that's completely spoiled me for similar scenes forever. Maybe it's the arrow-ridden dragon in Red Army uniform, or the landgoing replica of the Merrimac.

"From his vantage-point Takeda Katsuyori surveyed the grim scene. 'Fudge," he gritted."

THE BRIDGE OF KATZAD-DUM
------------------------
Samurai Cat pursues one of his lord's killers into Tolkien country, dealing with such critters as porks and the dread B'aalhop.

"The katana whirred and flamed, slicing through tentacle after tentacle, whistling in a constantly repeated *Datsun Tempura*, or Divine Whirling Outboard Motor Propeller Blow."

THE BOOK OF THE DUNWICH COW
---------------------------
The setting: a Lovecraftian town whose houses consist only of gabled attics to hide the squamous half-human denizens of Outsmouth.

"Yog N'goggawoggah and Yoknapatawpha, twin masses of stone-cold cream chip beef that ooze sluggishly in the center of all time and space, are their chiefs, terrible in combat, unappetizing to behold. Their herald and messenger is Stor-Atroomtemp, Lord of the Luke-warm, Cosmic Blight, Master-of-Many-Shapes-and-Interesting-in-None-of-Them. Their publicity is handled by the horrendous Isaac Azathoth...."

BEYOND THE BLACK WALNUT
-----------------------
Another murderer, Thpageti-Thoth, has fled into savage Pictland. Illustrated in gorgeous Frazetta parodies, the story shows Samurai Cat's meeting with Con-Ed the Barbarian.

"Amalric the East Anglian..., armored in a scale-mail corselet, was a tall weasly-looking teenager whose spiky hairdo sent orange and purple tufts up through the holes he had deliberately punched in his own helmet. His only weapon was a gigantic Wilkinson sword razor-blade with the words 'Hi Mum' written on it in crimson lipstick."

AGAINST THE GODS
----------------
Tomokato's search takes him next to Asgard, as the gods prepare for the final war against the giants of the Greater Jotunheim Co-Prosperity Sphere.

"Odin nodded his grimly regal head and picked up the microphone for his P.A. system. 'Attention, attention,' he began. 'This is Odin, Lord of the Hanged. Ketil Jormunreksson, report to the Throne-Room, on the double.'"

This book is a must.

Must Read
This is definitely an excellent book. I have read both this and Samurai Cat Goes to the Movies and have found both to be hilarious and highly enteraining. While often very wierd it is a great book which I would highly recommend.

GET READY FOR FUN! BLOODY SAMURAI FUN!

Move over St. Paul!
The Bible Geek is a disciple of Jesus Christ, a comic, a big brother, an evangelist, and a sinner, which makes his biblical reflections inspiring and transformational for teens seeking Christ amid the culture of death. Hart incorporates every aspect of teens' lives and his own experiences of living as a disciple into his writing and reflections on Scripture - truth and sincerity radiate each passage. His command of youth culture and ability to break open the Word of God lend to this book's incredible ingenuity and wit. To date, I have not come across a more usable Scripture reflection for teens. Regardless of religious affiliation, teens everywhere can relate to his perspective on modern-day discipleship. The Bible Geek is out to dispel a nasty rumor that Catholics don't know or understand the Scriptures!

keep 'em comin'!
I've given this book to a handful of teens already and now I'm back on line to buy more copies to give away. That pretty much says it all. Finally, its the answers to the questions they've felt too dumb to ask and more questions they didn't even know how to ask. It's an awesome book - they love it. Heck, I love it - and I'm 25!

Each Verse!
'Along the way He calls upon us to use the gifts He's bestowed on us for HIS glory, not for our own' (pg. 125). Mark Hart has clearly used the gifts God has bestowed on him by being able to pick apart a single verse from the Bible and transform it into something that fits each person that reads it! Many of us read the Bible all the time but never challenge ourselves enough to go deeper and read EACH passage carefully. Mark Hart, writing from his heart and experiences, makes the Bible fun to read and also applicable to our modern times. His humor, the personal touch he includes, and his deep faith in the church make this book a great resource for people of all ages. Mark makes reading the Bible memorable; I guarantee that the analogies he makes will stick in your mind the next time you read or hear the passage.

excellent - BUT BUY British version from amazon.co.uk
Excellent book - unfortunately I didn't buy the british version right away - which comes with an extraodinary CD. So I bought the british version as well and offered the american one to a friend. LONG LIVE OLD EUROPE

beautiful, humorous, thrilling
Recently I bought the UK-version of this book. It is called 'Into the Red' and comes with a CD with sounds of the sportscars described in the books. I agree with all other reviewers: this CD plus book is a must-have. The pictures in the book are beautiful, the text by Mason and Hales is technically, humorously and very interesting to read. Even if you are not full into racingcars, this is still a very nice book to have in your bookcase !

Get It With The CD!
It can be ordered through Amazon UK; It's called "Into The Red" and the engine sounds on the CD are awesome.

The book doesn't take on the form of a stuffy autobiography, but rather takes on a fun narration of the story of the best group around. Simply said, a great book.

Ars Magica : The Art of Magic (Ars Magica)

Curse of chronos
A quirk of many Ars Magica players is that they have a particular edition they value above all others: mine was third edition: to my mind, it was the apex of the games origionality. At its best, Ars Magica was an intensly colourfull game that gave modern players a filter through wich they could percive a fantastic medival world. It was a mix of judith tarr and prof. umberto eco, and propably the best thing mark rein . hagen ever made.
Unfortunately, the current owners of the game do not get all that. They seem to think that its supposed to be a "realistic" simulation of the middle ages: not that the middle ages are not intresting enough on their own, but that just wasnt the point of Ars Magica. Its name means "the Art of Magic", and it was supposed to focus on what was OUTSIDE the medival world: its cosmology was one never thought of in medival times. The main characters are outcast wizards, not, say, knights.
Also, i have a terrible suspicion that the current owners overuse of historical material is due to a lack of ideas of their own. Even the colours used in the game - books have become more grey.
One last thing: the rules have always been a bit heavy - going (even a simplified version of rolemaster can manage to be quite complex), but the basic dice system is easy and logical enough, so with a bit of practice a storyteller should be able to manage with a few general rolls. The fourth edition people should have kept most of them unchanged, i understand.

My favorite RPG!
Before Jonathan Tweet moved to Wizards of the Coast, and before Mark Rein-Hagen created the WW's World of Darkness -- they created Ars Magica. This is a wonderfully detailed, and realistic medieval roleplaying game. The magic system is the best there is! The fleshed-out combat system, and the fact that you play 3 characters from different social strata are also wonderful features. The first RPG to have troupe-style play, and it's quite a treat for gamers seeking substance. Minor complaint: I wish there were a few clear and concrete examples of the rules being used during play; in some places the text is dense and a bit hard to digest. But don't let this fool you, the rules are really quite simple -- the presentation just needs to be streamlined.

A simple and brillaint RPG
My background is in Medieval History and the Arthurian legends. While I have enjoyed RPGs in general over the years, I have never really felt fulfilled by them. Ars Magica changed that.

This is a grand game, not only in terms of system, but also in scope. You are not slogging around odd underground defense installations finding monsters sitting in room with a king's ransom in gems; instead, you are part of a community and your interests are first in foremost in the esoteric study of arcane lore and magic. Assuming you are a mage. The Companion and Custos (Grogs) have a slightly different take on life, but they are lower down the Great Chain of Being.

This game assumes that in the Middle Ages the world was what people believed it was. Demons are real. God is above all else. Faeries are around every corner. Within this context, you, the player, are an anomaly -- a mage with great power, socially shunned (at best), but in the end subject to the world around you and the constraints placed on your magic.

The system is elegant, requiring only 10-sided dice. The magic system is magesterial -- huge, flexible, yet limiting the lesser magi until they have a chance to learn. Most of all, the game puts you within a real world and makes you feel enmeshed in it.

If you are looking for a truly fine RPG, this is it, hands down.

A book for all ages!
This is a fabulous book for insect and photography enthusiasts alike. The 3-D effect is so real it is like the bugs are sitting on your nose! My 14-year-old nephew likes the book and so do my adult friends. All of Blum's 3-D books are highly recommended.

Fabulous book with stereo 3-D photos!
BUGS in 3-D

I highly recommended this book for school children and adults alike.

I was introduced to one of Blum's books by a friend and liked it so much that I sought out and bought all of his 3D books. I find the price so reasonable that I've since bought more to give as gifts.

I enjoy looking at the 3-D photos as much as my seven year old son so I already know several adults as well as children who will be getting this book as a gift.

The technical quality of the photos and printing of the books is very good. A magnifying, stereo viewer is built into a unique bi-fold cover of the book A little research showed that this idea is well over a hundred years old (like stereo photography) but I still find it very innovative because it is so rare and unusual.

The photographer has an inspired eye and top technical skill. The macro photography is amazing. If you buy this book hold it high with your head back when you look at the close-up of the Zebra Tarantula (plate 4). It will freak you out like your about to be eaten! Then go to plate 40 and look at the beautiful butterfly.

The writing accompanying each image adds to the photos with just the right amount of scientific and general information to serve both young and old reader. I like this book very much and I hope you find this review helpful. I recommend looking for the other 3-D books by Blum. They are all great!

Fine example of Macro Stereo Photography
This is a wonderful book. Well designed, with fine viewer and sharp photos. A real bargain for the price. I'll need to collect the whole series. If you are familiar with stereo photography, this is a must have. If you think 3-D means added shadowing, this is a must have.

Good Travelogue
Nice pictures and good descriptions of many roller coasters, including some NOT in North America. The book begins with a history and sometimes dabbles into the science of the rides. A bit more precision on the science of the rides is desired. The large middle section is devoted to just about every kind of type of coaster except the (now defunct) side friction coaster. Chapter 3 briefly includes white knuckle rides that are not coasters.

This is the best coaster book!
This book has all the information you need and want about roller coasters including, hieght, speed, length, duration and number of inversions. It has pictures of all recent coasters exept a few and the information I just said. I give this book two thumbs up. Rush out to buy this one.

THIS IS THE ONE YOU`VE BEEN WAITING FOR !!!
This book is THE refenrence for world wide coaster informations...Superb color pictures, great details, and is the most up to date book on coasters. The "quality -vs- price" ratio is excellent, you won`t regreat this book,if you`re a long time coaster fanatic or a new comer like me !!
