Only in America could someone make money with something like this (and unlike a liberal I mean that in a postive way!)I'm sure Monica and Bill would sue for a percentage of the profits, but it would mean acknowledging their words . . . and the acts that went with them.

With verse such as this, I can throw away all my Ezra Pound. More rhyming would have been welcomed, however.

Also, I think it is important to thank the publisher for printing the book in such a small format. Much easier to hold with one hand.

Can making money really be this easy? Why do I work 5 days a week? Either this author is a genius in the uniquely American fashion, or a complete burnout with too much time and dope on his hands.

The little known Oxford Archaeological Guides series provides information that you cannot find elsewhere. This guide was written by Amanda Claridge in 1998 and gives information about many of the archaeological sites of Rome. Sites are described in great detail with an emphasis on how the site might have looked in ancient times and changes occurring over centuries. Famous artifacts that were once part of these sites are described and their present locations are mentioned. You learn where in the baths of Caracalla the famous Farnese Hercules and Farnese Bull were located and you learn how they came to be in the archaeological museum at Naples. There are little known sites like the tomb of the Scipios as well as places as familiar as the Piazza Navona and the Colloseum. Obscure but fascinating information is given: the great brick reinforcing wedge on the southeast side of the Colloseum was built in 1807: I have not seen this information anywhere else. The oval Piazza Navona is built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian of 86 AD; the stores that line its periphery are built on top of the ancient seating. This book would not be suitable as the only guidebook to take with you on a trip, the information provided is far too specialized. I'd recommend taking along the Michelin Green guide or the Knopf guide for Rome as well. Some minor drawbacks: the drawings and maps are not as detailed as they could be and the few photographs that are provided are black and white and of poor quality. These complaints are not critical flaws; the book would still be invaluable even if it didn't contain a single illustration.

This book delivers what the cover promises. It's a thorough guide to what the city of Rome still has of the physical remains of the original inhabitants, of the Etruscans, of the Roman Republic, and of the Roman Empire. If you're going to Rome and you care about those things, take the time to read this book before you go. If you read it after you come back, you'll just have to plan another visit. If you're not going to Rome, but care about Roman history, then Ms. Claridge will give you some concrete (and marble) facts to add to the titillating stories of the emperor's peccadilloes that you've heard from Hollywood and that fuddy-duddy Classics professor.

I saw this book randomly in a bookstore before I had ever been to Rome, and decided to buy it. The diagrams and maps inside were interesting even to scan, and the description of the sites and their history gave me a better sense of what I wanted to see on my trip. When in Rome, I carried this book everywhere. In addition to the standard highlights -- detailed descriptions of each item on the Forum, the Upper Via Sacra, the Palatine, etc. -- this book had coverage of the archeological sites that seem to be on random street corners throughout Rome. If I came across something that looked interesting, I could look it up on the maps, then find the text. Often, there would be a helpful diagram of the original site layout that allowed me to make sense of what stones were standing (and often there aren't many). The book also lists gems of archeological sites that I never would have planned to see had I not read parts of it before my trip. That said, this book has more detail than the casual tourist needs or wants. Much more. But if you want to spend several days delving around ancient Rome, then this book deserves your attention.

Furthermore, when your eyes are burning, your back hunched like so many Quasimodo computer geeks, and your wrists twinging after all-night forays on the Internet, it offers a pleasing alternative to the computer screen. Unlike those software manuals, it is actually the sort of book that you may wish to keep close by your computer, for a much-needed chuckle at Mr Bentley's writing style, as well as its topical hints. It may even find its way into parents and parents-in-law Christmas stockings this year, to ward off those pesky questions concerning computing (which you can never seem to answer adequately anyhow).

A comprehensive reference manual it is, so toss out those slighter volumes about trying to protect your kids from all the mayhem on the net or how to sit up straight when typing away, and buy it.

Tom Bentley's self help manual offers lots of wonderful information to help anyone who deals with computers but, as a high school info tech (or computer)teacher I especially have found it beneficial. His pointers, advise and general information have practical application for the computer class, career preparation and business computing. I would even recommend it as a manual for employers who are concerned about the well being of employees and their computers.

Bentley has found a common sense approach for passing on information which is neither preechy or condescending. In short, I found this book to be a great read and a lot of help to me personally and the students I am teaching.

I rate this book 5 stars. The title of my review is School House Rock: The Official Guide by Tom Yohe and George Newall. I like this book because it is a great book and I like School House Rock and it's still my favorite show. This book is great. I like this book because it reminds me of School House Rock.

If you grew up in the 70's and 80's and were anywhere near Saturday morning cartoons, then you know Schoolhouse Rock. Many of us learned our times tables because of them. I can remember at least twice when the catchy songs about American History were caught in my head and helped me answer test questions. The lyrics may have been replaced by other facts, but I'm sure that the songs are stuck in your head somewhere. This book is a great companion to bring so much of it back with lyrics, pictures and trivia about all the episodes. It will bridge things until the DVD is released. All in all a ton of fun. Pull out the book, sing along and relive those cereal laden mornings in front of the TV. Oh yea!

This is cool- also if you're like me you might like Scripture Rock.

I saw Brian Gage speak at an author panel in Santa Monica, and thought he was an interesting character. A couple months later, I broke down and bought Snark, Inc.

It's now officially one of my favorite books. It takes the guise of a kids book, only to then turn the entire format on its head and deliver the reader a completely unexpected message. It's funny, dark, and painfully true. It's a very well thought out commentary on modern society - right down to its appearance of a kids book. I recommend it highly. Check out the Web site too! It's hilarious.

I agree with the reviews below. Snark Inc. is a great book and does a fantastic job of poking fun of Corporate America. The verse is really charming and the pictures are great.

I do have to disagree with the reviewer from Germany. Snark Inc. is a great book, but it's no masterpiece. Lolita is a masterpiece, For Whom the Bell Tolls is a masterpiece. Snark Inc is just a fun book with a sharp slant on consumerism.

Dark and forboding, Snark Inc. is a brilliant satire on corporate America. Disguised as a children's book, Snark seduces you into it's world before you are aware that what you are reading is a sharp, dead-on attack at many of the misguided values we collectively share. Brian Gage's words are clever and powerful. Tom Ellsworth's illustrations are thoughtful. His depiction of the 'boss' as a snake-like dollar sign is simply brilliant. I highly recommend this book and eagerly await future work from these two artists.

Wow what a book, if you are planning in just buying one thing get this, it's well worth your time, what a wonderful read!

This trade collects the first 8 issues (and origin story) of Marvel Comics highly contagious Spider-Girl comic book series. Why they don't publish more of her adventures is beyond me. These stories of a very likable young superheroine are thrilling to this middle-aged comic reader and should be to very youngest of readers. Forget about finding a bad review of this one - every one who reads it loves it! The stories are done in Tom Defalco's "one and done" style. This means they don't drag on and on like most of today's comic book yarns.

The stories are very reader friendly, done in a very lighthearted style. You won't find grim and gritty adult stories here, only fun stories that are apporpriate for the whole family. Highest recommendation. Makes a great present, too.

My review for this week is one of my all-time fave comic books: Spider-Girl! Y'know, there's only two kinds of girls I really dig: chicks who look kinda like John Denver, and chicks who look kinda like Spider-Girl™! Yep, I sure enjoy readin' the adventures of May "Mayday" Parker™ and her Spandex™-clad, crime-fightin' alter-ego! Boy, does she-- uh, what's that you say? You say you're kinda gagged out by my romantic thoughts about some fictional comic-book character? Sorry 'bout that, it was the Pepto-Bismol talkin'...

Anyway, I really like this here trade paperback collection of the series' first eight issues (& issue #0). Now I can read the stories without messin' up my near-mint original single issues! And what neat stories they are: there's plenty of family strife as young May tries to carry on the legacy of her dad (Peter Parker, the original Web-Head) over her parents' adamant protests! Throw in her duties of trying to keep the peace between two of her high school buds, the return of the Green Goblin (3rd generation) and Venom, the high-school janitor turning into a big ol' dragon-thingy that proceeds to trash most of the campus, and a few new faces on both sides of the super-powered fence, and you've got... uh... a lotta stuff to read. And a lotta really colorful drawings to go with the words, too... can't forget to mention that. But then again, it is a comic book, right? At least I remember Spider-Girl bein' a comic book. Just to make sure, I'd better take another look at the trade paperback that I've got with me. OK, let's see now... there's pictures, word balloons, big ol' fights between costumed superbeings... yep, it's a comic book all right! Won't Zaggy be proud when I tell him I figured that out all by myself!

Oops, gotta go-- my break's up, and Ro'y's got a few more tasks for me to complete. He says if I do a really good job, he'll spring for my Mickey D's value meal-- super-sized, no less! It doesn't get much better than that...

I got this book for myself, but found myself sharing this with my teenage daughter and thought that the messages were truly inspiring for both of us.

One section that I especially liked and shared with my teenager repeatedly was about self love. I have not read many books on this subject but found it was written very well and that you have to love yourself in order to love and help others that you will be helping in the future.

I got alot from this book. It is a joy to read. Tom has really nailed it on this one. It will be shared with my entire family.

Feltenstein was born to share his very human experiences, through literature! I treasure every paragraph. My frustration is wanting to re-read the last while bursting to drink in the next!

Easy explanations of most of the things a trader should know. There are some typos and errors, but overall the book is packed with useful information. The material does not require any previous economics or business knowledge, but will be useful for pros as well. I recommend it to everyone

I would highly recommend this book to anyone seriously looking for a good book on how the market and its many facets work. The book is correctly named, it reads like a textbook from a 101 college course and it even has a companion book (sold separatly) to "test" your knowlege of what you read in the textbook.
Bottom line - easy to understand, thorough, informative. Will provide good general understanding of the stockmarket.

I already had quite a bit of knowledge about investing and trading before studying this course, but still learned more. My only regret is that this wasn't available 5 years ago.

This book should be read by everyone. It is informative, well written, and provides information one one of the true heros in the history of mankind. If you read "Shindlers Ark" (or saw the movie) you'll really enjoy this book.

As a parent, I know how hard it is to find excellent, high-quality nonfiction books for older children who are at an in-between stage - not quite ready for adult books but too old for "juvenile" books. This true account of Raoul Wallenberg, a man who saved more than 100,000 Jewish men, women and children from extinction during the Holocaust, is gripping and well-written. My kids could NOT put it down and one of them is a reluctant reader, so that says a lot right there. Watching my reluctant reader with his eyes glued to the page compelled me to pick up the book myself and I was glad I did. The author has used actual archival materals and even interviewed Wallenberg's family and friends. There are also photographs included, a special touch that brings a sense of immediacy to the past. Perhaps most importantly, the author has not "talked down" to the older children who are most likely to read this book (although it could be read aloud to younger ones). Adults, too, would find this one fascinating to read. A strong recommendation for this one!

Raoul Wallenberg was just one Swede, and that one Swede saved over 100,000 Jewish people from certain death at the merciless hands of Adolf Eichmann. To this day no one knows what the fate of Wallenberg is. This book was wonderfully written and didn't even seem as though it was non-fiction! I loved this book and I recommend this book to anyone.

An exciting tale of the journey of these two adventurers and their crew is retold through sufficient text and plentiful images. The photos are striking and abundant and a great way to lure kids into reading the book. It's both educational and entertaining to learn of their trials. However, if you are looking for expansive, in-depth text of every moment, you should check out other books that are a reprinting of their diaries. While this book is thorough, it is really just an introduction to the whole adventure and easy enough that you'll probably finish it in just a few sittings.
