Thoroughly entertaining from first page to last!
One Thomas Too Many is an unusual literary paring of a novelette by Fay Harbison with four short stories by Ellen M. Surber (The Forlorn Unicorn, For Whom the Bell Tolled, Aunt Nympho and the Family Bible, Bernie and the Super Bowl). An unusual love story involving senior citizens, Harbison's One Thomas Too Many is also a comic mystery of bizarre twists and turns culminating in a free-for-all at a gambling casino. Ellen Surber's short stories showcase unusual and memorable characters caught up in fatherless pregnancy, funerals, senior citizen necking, and a wife's devotion to her deceased football loving husband. One Thomas Too Many is thoroughly entertaining reading from first page to last.

Loved the book
I read this book for the very first time and I could not put it down. I found myself interested in the mystery about cryonics and Parker's love life. It held my interest because I wanted to know if they would find out that the women was still alive when Gaberial had the doctor cut off her head to be perserved. I was kind of spooked when Parker went home after the white Dodge was following him and he went into his home and noticed somebody has been in there. I was shocked to find out it was the student from the college he taught pathology at. The ending was great and I am glad Ennis got what he deserved and Parker is seeing Leah.

a laughing good time
This tiny chap book is a wonder of wit and proverbial wisdom. Having read this so many times, I find myself crossing paths with situations in life that immediately bring many of these epigrams to mind, to the tip of the tongue where they seem to dance so nicely, so succinctly. Laughing fits a many, lends itself to good hysterics. Read it and weap.

Ultimate Sports
Did you ever think a man could throw another for over 30 feet? This happened in Sports Stories by Lester Schulman. This book has several short stories about people in sports. My favorite one was titled You Can Look It Up. This story was about a player that could not fit in with his teammates. He didn't hit the ball well and each time he went up to bat he struck out which made the team angry. This story and more will keep you busy reading about sports.
What I like about this book is that it tells about sports. I like sports also, and play baseball myself, so it was a perfect match for me. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 10 and recommend it to anyone that likes to play sports.

I think the author's purpose for writing this book was to prove to people that they can do anything they want to if they just try their hardest.

Incredibly real stories reverberating with Canadian context
When I read this book I was astounded! It was the first time I read about women in Canada that had a realistic feel without any stereotypical canadiana themes. The various short stories portray people with whom the reader can identify because they are presented as women dealing with many of the problems our society presents today, like divorce and its ramifications. The heroines are usual everyday people dealing with family, children and emotions in a courageous manner without becoming melodramatic caricatures. This was the first book I read where I identified with the female characters!! I highly reccomend this and all books by Audrey Thomas.
