Great book for beginners!
Of all the Visual QuickStart books that I've read, this book is by far the best. It explains how to use all of CorelDRAW 7's features in easy to follow steps that even a novice like myself can understand. Also, although it's not its purpose, it does a very good job in teaching the user about the software, beyond just merely how to use it. It gives the user an overview about what makes the software tick, without the overkill that one can find in other books about CorelDRAW 7. It has been a lifesaver for me, for it enabled me to teach myself the software, which is what "QuickStart" is all about.

Does what it sets out to do - good quickstart guide
I like the Visual Quick Start range of books a lot as they help me to get started with the minimum pain. I wanted a quick-in to Corel Draw (7) and this handy book summarises all the main functions of Corel Draw. It's entirely in black and white but is written in manageable sections that helped me to get started pretty quickly before I felt the need to look out for a more comprehensive manual. Well written, good value.

Step-by-step guidance with really cool graphics!
This book has the step-by-step guidance that I need when I work through a program as complex as CorelDraw 7! In addition, it is really visually awesome. The graphic design in this book puts it way above most computer software books. Using it, you'll find yourself opening whole new creative worlds

excellent book
This book was very well written. Once I picked it up I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. The characters are complex you feel like you know them and hate to see them make mistakes. Very Very good book. Can't wait for the next one from this author.

GREAT BOOK
I REALLY ENJOYED READING THE BOOK. THE CHARECTERS WERE VERY REALLISTIC AND THE STORY LINE WAS INTERESTING, IT WAS HARD TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN, I COULDNT WAIT TO FIND OUT SANDRAS CHOICE. SHE HAD TO MAKE DESCIONS THAT AFFECTED NOT ONLY HER LIFE BUT THOSE OF HER CHILDREN. HER WEAVING OF NEW ORLEONS GAVE THE STORY WONDERFUL COLOR. I UNDERSTAND WHY ROMANTIC TIMES GAVE THE NOVEL FOUR STARS. I LOOK FORWARD TO MS.HAMILTONS NEXT BOOK.

GREAT BOOK
THIS IS EXCELLENT BOOK, I READ IT COVER TO COVER. I LOVED THE CHARECTERS IN THE BOOK, THEY WERE VERY REALISTIC. THE PLOT HELD MY ATTENTION, AND THE SETTING-NEW ORLEANS, GAVE THE NOVEL WONDERFUL COLOR. THIS BOOK IS A GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENT.

Pain and Healing
We have lost 3 babies in our family. Our dreams of great futures were gone with them. We were desperate to find comfort. This book is healing and helpful to ease the pain.
I am grateful that I discovered this book. I also recommend Write From Your Heart, A Healing Grief Journal.
It really is necessary to "work" through grief.
May you all find peace and comfort.

Short, helpful reflections for grieving parents.
As grieving parents, both my husband and I found these reflections very timely. It's the kind of book you can pick up and read for one minute or one hour, depending on your mood and current needs. It is definitely a Christian-based book...each reflection is followed by a scripture pertaining to the idea presented in the reflection. However, as non-Christians, we loved the stories themselves. They put so eloquently into words the many conflicting feelings we are having after the death of our son. I highly recommend this book to others who have suffered a similar loss.

God sent this book for my broken heart!
I had been searching and searching for a book of bible verses pertaining to my loss but I also wanted personal stories in it. I'd even been considering writing one myself if I couldn't find one. This book is EXACTLY what I'd prayed for and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking comfort in God's word.

The foundation for all my writing
I got this book when I was 12 or 13 for Christmas...and it is still my most valuable writing tool. Some people can just write without planning and outlining, but I'm not one of those people. If I don't outline, I can't get through the first chapter.

I have a lot of discipline to develop...but the projects I've gotten the farthest on have been because of using this book's methods! And I'm quite sure when I finally do publish a novel...that it will be because of the organizational techniques I learned in this book!

Excellent for developing premise
What do you want your book to say? That's your premise. This work is money well spent, to develope your premise. You'll get soem great ideas, and the work will take your thoughts into new directions.

Excellent guide to writing
The step-by-step directions, along with helpful hints, make this a wonderful book for the beginning writer. Whitney designed this book as a textbook for writing classes she taught. I have enjoyed using this book as a guide for my own novel.

The Healing of Texas Jake
I liked Marco and Polo. They reminded me of my brother and me. I think the other cats were cool but I didn't like Jake very well. I think he was selfish and mean. I liked the steaknife game and how you sometimes can't trust what people say.

Excellent Story!
I loved this book! Marco and Polo bring you right into the story. If you love cats and adventure, this book is for you.

A must read for cat lovers
If you have read The Grand Escape, you will love The Healing of Texas Jake. It's exciting and you won't be able to put it down.

Say No More...
My acupuncturist gave this to me!

And, as any good southern woman knows, the higher the hair, the closer to god!

Love you hair. Hope you win!
I received this book as a gift from my best friend, Deb. This is one of the funniest books ever! I personally think black and white photos have soooo much more character.

Hysterical!
I'm thrilled to see all of these hilarious cards collectively! I found them a couple years ago at off the wall card stores and wished I had purchased every one of them. There's one for everyone- a guaranteed laugh. I love sarcastic humor, so I found this to be perfect. This book is a great gift for any/all occasions! Check it out!

Excellent book for both women and men
Dr. Kendall-Tackett's book provides an excellent articulation of the
various difficulties faced by mothers. The book succinctly explains
current academic knowledge and makes it relevant to the lived
experiences of mothers in today's families. Written in a truly caring
tone, the book does an outstanding job of placing the reader at ease
about challenges they may face as mothers and offers a wide array of
highly effective solutions. Written primarily for mothers, this book
also provides men with useful insights into the difficulties faced by
their mothers, wives, sisters and friends, and so can help them to both
sympathize and effect changes to help the mothers in their lives.

an important subject; would be helpful for ALL mothers
The role of the mother in modern day time is honored throughout this book and it is written in a positive tone with the utmost respect for women and mothers. The author acknowledges both stay at home mothers and employed mothers without entering the "Mommy Wars" or even getting into a discussion of what she thinks is best (because she recognizes that what is best for each person is different and unique to that individual). The role of mother is have is not always an easy one. The difficulties, pressures, and stressors of the modern mother are outlined including some historical information about the role of the mother and technological changes regarding housework over the last couple of hundred years. The author contends that each of us is in control of our lives and how we choose to react to these stressors is up to us. By becoming aware of the various things that can make our lives miserable, we can pick and choose which things we want to do or not do or how we react to things, so that life is manageable for us and we can lead happy lives. The author explains that if stress builds up burnout and depression can occur.

This book is not negative in tone. It provides good information to orient the mother as to why there is good reason for feeling overwhelmed with all that she has to do. I have not read any book on this subject that has this focus, this unique attitude of holding motherhood as an important role and providing ideas for how mother can remain sane and happy in her role. This is not like some books that basically have the tone that as a stay at home mother we should feel privileged and not have anything to complain about. The author also does not blame the mother for lifestyle choices she makes and then saying it is her fault. This book applies to all mothers, not just mothers of babies. The author is not judgmental about parenting choices and as an example, portrays breastfeeding in a positive light and mentions cosleeping as fine if that is what works best for your family.

Here is a listing of what is covered in the order of the chapters: stress, what it is; depression, recognizing it, how to get treatment, treatment options; burnout, what it is, recognizing it, how to avoid it. History of the housewife in America, how we arrived where we're at, are our jobs easier now that we have modern appliances? Working outside the home, why mothers might want to combine work and motherhood, making it manageable, making the decision to work. How to lightening housework to a manageable level, sharing duties with spouse and children, organizing the household so it runs smoothly. Sleep deprivation, what it is and how it affects our bodies and mental state. Adult survivors of childhood abuse: physical, verbal, sexual and how it affects the parent, including how it may affect breastfeeding and general mothering issues. The added stress of living with a "spirited" child (such as ADD/ADHD), the special stress of living with a child with medical problems. Dealing with miscarriage, stillbirth, or death of infant, the effects these have on the mother (even if society doesn't fully recognize this type of mourning or stress). The Epilogue gives hope for the future and tips for making things best for you as an individual.

Each chapter has an extensive listing of books and some websites on the various subjects covered in that chapter. The book appears well researched with a long reference research list. Overall it is very easy to read and interesting. It has helped me not feel as guilty for feeling overwhelmed at times. I think every mother would gain something from reading this. It is nice to see that someone realizes how hard the job of mothering is and understands that the role can cause stress, burnout and even depression in even the most capable and intelligent woman.

A must have for all women who have children in thier lives.
While reading this book many thoughts went through my mind. But the one thought that would not leave me is that I wish this book had been around when I was raising my children. Now that I have finished reading it both my daughter and my daughter-in-law will be receiving a copy from me. I am a grandmother who has been there and done that (or at least most of it) and found this book to be helpful in explaining why I may have done some of the things that I did or felt when my children were still at home. Ms.Kendall-Tackett has covered every aspect of motherhood in her book. Reading this book was easy and very informative. I love that she has also included many resources and web sites for the reader . As a woman, wife, mother and grandmother, I highly recommend this wonderful book.

a splendid collection!
julia margaret cameron's women contains 63 different plates representing magnificent victorian portraits photographed back in 1864 to 1874. every plates are monochromed in sepia or black & white. ...5 pages are consacrated to her models biographies, her favorite ones like: julia prinsep jackson (mother of virginia woolf & painter vanessa bell), mary ann hillier (her maid, cameron described her as one of the most beautiful & constant of her models.) , Alice Pleasance Liddell (aka the little girl from whom Lewis Caroll wrote "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" in 1865)..etc.. - 5 other pages focuses on cameron's Literary & mythological subjects:from "DAPHNE" (nymph pursued by the god Apollo) to "OPHELIA" (from shakespeare's "Hamlet")..all are well explained and presented...the rest of the 242 pages are dedicated to margaret's life, her debuts, her Illustrations to tennyson's "Idylls of the king", her different relations... - all fans of painting & photography should own this book! it is a unique reference! cameron was and still is one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time...

other interesting books in this genre: "Reflections in a looking Glass" a centennial celebration of Lewis carroll. , "Photo Historica" landmarks in photography , "a new history of photography" edited by michel frizot.

An Often missed Pre-Raphaelite Vision
This amazing book is well worth the investment. These photos still have the power to knock one over the head with their dizzying beauty. Too often people look to the men who made up the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood for an ideal of the Victorian woman. For a fresh look, one should explore Victoriana through the eyes of the women themselves. Cameron's photography is the perfect counterpart to Christina Rosetti's poetry. Enjoy.

Not merely an expensive coffee table book.
Most photographs here were made in ca. 1870. Looking through the book, I imagine that at that time photography was still so new, so unprecedented, that no one yet had idea of what portrait photography was to become. An art? Or a detailed recording of what the eye perceives? In this ambiguity, Julia Margaret Cameron shows herself in this volume to be great artist, a portrait photographer second to none. In the faces of her women, I can see stories and history as recorded nowhere else.

Most notable is the series of images of Julia Jackson. (She also appears on the front and back covers.) One can see her life evolve over the time span of the photos. These images become even more interesting upon learning she was mother of Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf. So here at last is the real Mrs. Ramsey.

A good companion
I would not call this book a must have for role players, but as a storyteller particularly interested in crossover it provides most useful tools. Here are included extra disciplines for the Kuei-Jin toghether with a better explanation of what happens with those who do not belong tho Kuei-Jin society per se. Namely the akumas (as called by other Kuei-Jin). If you are a storyteller and you're thinking of getting Kuei-Jin into your chronicles, then this book would be of great assistance, though not essential.

Good book for KoE
This is essentially a player's guide for KoE. It has 4 more dharmas to follow if you didn't like any of the 5 in the KoE book. It also has about 9 extra disciplines for kuei-jin to use. In addition to that it lists disciplines to the 9th level. So, if you are the only kuei-jin in your group or all of the others play with power characters, you can survive. Also, it gives information on dhampyrs and yulan-jin. There is a lot of valuable background information, too. There aren't many questions left after reading this book.

finally!!
finally, the many questions left unanswered in KoE have been answered in this supplement. yet, many more questions surface. this supplement adds a whole new depth to playing kindred and allows for a greater diversity in gameplay.

Must read
Every mother going through a custody battle should read this - puts a whole lot of issues into perspective - you're not an unfit mother - it's not your fault - reading this tells you all about what custody battles are about

If the TRUTH is what you are after, then ...
... this is THE book AND THE ONLY ONE (and I have read them all) on the subject of who gets custody of your children and why. Dr. Chesler, unlike sooooo many other authors who claim expertise on THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THERE IS, OUR KIDS' WELFARE, IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, knows, I mean reeeeally knows why women lose custody of the flesh of their own flesh. So. She tells it. And, O, what a mess she causes. And, ya' know, ordinary, general folks, why, they do NOOOOOT like messes. Especially where their MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE, their families and kids, is concerned. Dr. Chesler pulls out all the stops and lets it rip. And, ya' know, ordinary, general folks, why, they do NOOOOOT like being messed with -- especially when it is their families' uuuugly TRUTHS they want kept quiet and in hiding. Dr. Chesler doesn't. She doesn't keep quiet and she doesn't keep those secrets in hiding. Women in the civil (custody) courts around the entire US of A? Why, these "good 'nough" mothers might as well be in Jordan or Afghanistan or Congo for all the likelihood there is of their getting custody of their own natural flesh -- IF HE PRESSES FOR CUSTODY AND HAS THE LEAST BIT OF PILLAREDNESS ABOUT HIM. That is, if he, the father, is himself a doctor, a judge, a lawyer, a prominent, community businessman, teacher, cop, administrator, manager, MONEY, yada, yada, yada AND seeks custody or a modification of an original decree (custody or child support $), good ole' ma is dead. SHE WILL LOSE. PERIOD. Ask Dr. Laura? Hah! I say: KNOW Dr. Chesler. If you are a mother and in, or not even yet in and think you could not possibly ever be in, a custody struggle, you had better THINK AGAIN AND MEMORIZE this book cover to cover. NOW. The only good news from this book and Dr. Chesler's research: There are now entire chapters of support groups nationwide called exactly that, Mothers on Trial, who can help you. Try one out; moms meet SECRETLY because of fear of revenge and reprisal against them. After all, their flesh are still, most often, years and years away from legal adulthood; the mothers are soooo afraid -- and need to be -- of losing whatever contact they may still have with their kids -- IF those kids' fathers find out about their "association".

Must read for EVERY MOTHER - -even still married ones !
Every mother should read this eyeopening book about the patriarchal legal system. Mothers do not get custody if fathers (even poor fathers) want to ask for it. Good mothers lose custody, bad fathers get custody (and child support) and the court system is biased toward men and their money. Mothers are slammed if they work for not being a full time mom, and equally so if they ARE full time moms for being lazy. I read this book ten years ago and rarely a week goes by that I don't think about it or tell someone about it.
