Fantastic!
I have been cutting the ties that bind now for two years. It gives you so much freedom to be free from ties you have created with others, and it frees them also. I still have a lot of ties to cut at this stage and I am moving through them with ease, thanks to this wonderful technique. I recommend this book to everybody.

spiritual psychothrapy based on Jung's teachings
This book gives you the tools to cut from your negative childhood programming and be guided only by your own higher consicousness. I recommend it highly to anyone wishing to be free from reacting to the ghosts of one's past.

A must for anyone who wants to learn Chinese
This is an excellent book for the intermediate learner of Chinese. As a current student I cannot recommend this book enought. The book introduces practical building blocks of vocabulary, sentence structures, grammer and new words coupled with new characters. Each chapter is enough to push the student to reach and learn, however, it is not too much to discourage the student. One section that is especially useful is a section with practice sentences. These sections have helped me speak and understand Chinese as an adult (using complex sentence structure and connectors) rather than as a child using loosely connected phrases. Having studied Chinese in Japan, Australia, Taiwan and now the U.S, based on my experiences this book has clearly helped me significantly improve my ability to speak, read, write and listen to Chinese. Don't waste money or time on other books, this is easily the best for serious students of Chinese.

FULL of Rich material and well worth the money!
This review regards to the Books/CDs version. These books cover specific grammar usage,in a very comprehensive way- with plenty of practice and exercises. Listening comprehension (CDs) work well and are compatable with the books included. In the reading exercises, the main vocabulary words are written beforehand, in Traditional (and sometimes Simplified) characters ,in pinjin, and English translation. All of those elements combined, to me, persuades me that this course (that it is) is well worth the money. The writers and contributers of this course are all professors and, are fluent and knowelegeble in the Chinese language - who teach and lecture from some of the finest universities in the US. Besides language, customs and traditions are well summarized and described. This, to me, is vital to know about when a person would like to travel to the PRC or mainland China. Note that this course is taught at the intermediate level, so just keep this in mind. A definate "dive" into the details of Chinese language and culture.

Bible friendly feminism
Trible manages to combine an egalitarian feminist outlook with great sensitivity and love for the original text of the Hebrew scriptures. She does not force a feminist reading on the Bible. Rather, she enriches our understanding by pointing out important biblical themes which are of special interest to feminists, but which may be appreciated by anyone seeking a fuller appreciation of scripture. I should point out that Trible respects the autonomy of the Hebrew scriptures; Jews as well as Christians have much to learn from this book.

Eat from tree of knowledge!
This book contains the most sensible and eye-opening answer I have yet encountered to the question, "Why are there two accounts of the creation of human beings in the book of Genesis?" Trible argues convincingly that the first account is the story of God's order, and the second account tells of a fallen human order. Her argument is so well-supported by the text that you will never again be able to read the creation story without exclaiming, "Wow! Phyllis Trible was right!"

GRIEF made me feel less alone after the death of my son -
"Right now your book is a life-line for me. Thank you for making me feel a little less alone after the sudden death of our son, Zachary. How could it be? How could all those feelings be on the pages of GRIEF: Climb Toward Understanding? Those were MY feelings, MY emotions, and they were so deep in my soul - how could you know?"

-Evelyn Clark

Should be at hand in every home, library, and school.
"I have found that the death of a loved one will likely ravage me before I will ever have the need to use a fire extinguisher. As sensible a tool like a fire extinguisher, when a death occurs, the book 'Grief: Climbing Toward Understanding,' should be at hand in every home, library, and school."

A Tad Well, Er...Sick! What Fun!
...

With "happy birthday...blah, blah, blah," these two (one with a name and one without) have answered prayers all across America for a perfect, inexpensive birthday gift. (I'm not sure the humor would translate to some other countries, but you never know.)

This book is irreverent, funny and occasionally just a tad well, er...sick.

A hardback full of pictures with clever blurbs, this little book is such a delight it should be passed around, so do your friends a favor and leave it unsigned. That way they can recycle it for someone else's birthday gift.

Oh, I'm sorry. That wasn't very nice. Here's better advice: Read the book to brighten your own day. Sign it. And tell your friend to buy another one for their friend's birthday. It isn't nice to be such a cheapskate and anyway, Tim and Phyllis need the royalties...

I was quite moved by your mother's rendition of "feelings"
This is one of the funniest humor books I've ever seen. I have been buying the greeting cards for a few years, and when I saw this book in a local bookstore, I read every single page. I was crying from laughter by the end.

This book makes you feel as though you know the people.
I have read Phyllis's books a lot of times and I can definitly say that this book is my favorite. All of Phyllis's stories are beautifilly written and are a pleasure to read. I know many people who feel the same way. I think that it is a big mistake to take this book out of print because it tells people all about a nice peaceful world which is possible with God.

Very Inspirational, a need in today lifestyle
The stories in each chapter have such a significant value to our lives. Some were very touching as I read them... And I could honestly relate at a personal level. Yet once I completed reading the book I honestly have to say that almost daily, I can relate to a situation in life that makes me revert to a story in Phyllis' book. It is very warm, and touching. My favorite is "The Christmas Secret". It makes us realize the presence of Christ in our lives, day to day. A "Strong - Realization that He is Alive an amoung us". I want to pass this book along to other's as a gift, a soft yet loving inspiration, to rekindle a faith that some have lost. To know "He" is alive in our everyday, as "He" was 2000 year's ago. My Love & Blessings to such a gifted author - I pray her grace from God the gift she has through her writtings -- touch mulitudes of people.

I take it EVERYWHERE!!
My daughter, who is prone to acts of clumsiness, delighted in this book. At an age where it seems her feet are struggling not to trip over themselves, she loved the fact that in the end...even grown-ups can "forget their feet"!! This book was a joy to read aloud; flowing beautifully. The illustrations were colourful and my daughter loved declaring aloud:"Amy Audrey I declare, I can't take you anywhere!" So much so, that it's become a catchphrase in our household!

DELIGHTFUL ILLUSTRATIONS MAKE THIS BOOK A JOY
Naylor's story is brought to life by Kaminsky's whimsicalillustrations. His style is refreshing. His expressive characters andexpert use of color make this book a delight to the eyes. Young children (and parents)will find the pictures of Audrey's mishaps hilarious. Every time you turn the pages you'll find something new to inspire a laugh.

This is an outstanding book for children to read.
This book will definitely appeal to many children, especially those who may be dealing with a bully. Everyday Kevin walks to the neighborhood playground in hope of having great fun. But each day, without failure, a boy named Sammy is there. Whenever Kevin approaches a piece of equipment, Sammy will say he can not go on it because he is the "King of the Playground" then threatens to hurt Kevin if he does not listen. Together, Kevin and his father discuss what Sammy is doing to Kevin, and they work through the difficult situation. Soon Kevin gains enough confidence to stand up for himself, and does with remarkable results! I enjoyed seeing how Kevin could open up to his father and how they, together worked out the problem. The understandable text and colorful illustrations flow together smoothly, and add a great deal of feeling to the plot.

great problem solving and coping skills exhibited
As a Kindergarten teacher I make a point to read this book every year to my students, to show them that a scary or seemingly hopeless situation can result in a good friendship with a little perservernce and creativity. I like the fact that the Dad was a good source of support for the child, and that the Dad is shown working outside and inside the house in some non-traditional roles. Buoyed by his father's support, Kevin returns to the playground, always trying new ways to secure a spot on the playground. Children need more tools like this for resolving conflict in a non-violent manner.
