Time to Accept It--God is a Woman
The author and illustrator of this book do a masterful job of conveying a contemporary feminist spiritual message without becoming preachy or pedantic, thus making the story very appealing to children of all ages. The text rolls off the tongue with a poetic fluidity and the paintings are so engaging that you will find yourself reading this book to your little ones again and again.

That's good, that's real good....
This fabulous version of the creation story/myth has my almost three-year-old mezmerized. Big Momma, part goddess, part buddha (as admitted by the illustrator) single-handedly makes the world (although her dishes and laundry do pile up in the process). Her daily accomplishments mirror the Genesis story of creation but with a Root-endowed Southern drawl. If you are able to appreciate the gender change, this is a lovely, refreshing version of creation your child is sure to love. It is well-written and beautifully illustrated.

A Real Page Turner
This was an excellent read. I was drawn to the characters and found myself having trouble putting this book down. Great job! The message the author gave was terrific. We should take the time out to listen to our children instead of being to caught up in our own problems. My book club will have this book featured as it's book of the month.

I laughed, I cried, I sighed!
Black Butterflies, Secrets of the past is a great book! Good job Vicki! I loved it! Even my husband, who never reads anything but computer books, is reading it. When will people learn that we must not only talk to our children, but listen to them too. Again great job Vicki!. I also read Chocolate Burnout and can't wait for the sequel, Chocolate Burnout: The Road to Freedom to come out.

Great warbride stories
I really enjoyed this book; while there is a number of books about warbrides who travelled to the US, whis books gives a rare insight into the experiences of warbrides that travelled to Canada.

Personal accounts of fear and bravery.
I read this book in about 4 nights straight. I couldn't put it down. I wasnt around back then, but this book made me realize just how lucky I am and how easy we have it in todays world compared to those times during and after the second world war. The stories of their experiences made me laugh one moment and cry in another.

Wonderful book!
We picked this book randomly at the library and have since bought it because it is so wonderful. The pictures are arresting and artistic while still very appealing to the young child. The story is cute and amusing and is about sharing and problem solving. My daughter is 3 and she absolutely loves this book and has memorized the whole thing. I recommend it for any child from age 2 on up.

Beautiful, clever, fun children's book
My children and I all enjoyed this book for a number of reasons. At first glance, it's a classic children's tale, simply told and beautifully illustrated (with gorgeous block prints in eye-catching colors.) We all quickly realized that things were not as they seemed (and were described in the book), which gave the book a delightful "inside joke" appeal that even my youngest (age 3) child understood. Finally, the author avoids the obvious, pat ending with a wonderful last-page surprise. We have read this book over and over and would recommend it to anyone!

The simple text introduces prepositional opposites
Delightfully written and beautifully illustrated in watercolor images by Phyllis Limbacher Tildes, Calico's Curious Kittens is the newest title regaling young readers ages 2 through 7 with the adventures of Calico, a cat who is now a mother with seven kittens of her own! These are very curious kittens who have great adventures exploring the big backyard, climbing curtains, and investigating the kitchen. The simple text introduces prepositional opposites such as in/out, over/under, up/down, etc. Calico's Curious Kittens is also available in paperback (1570915121, ...The other highly recommended titles in this outstanding series include Counting On Calico; Calico Picks A Puppy; and Calico's Cousins.

AN EXCELLENT READ ALOUD
Little is more irresistible than playful kittens. Calico, the popular feline read about in "Counting On Calico" and "Calico's Cousins," is now a proud but busy mother to a litter of seven.

Geared for youngsters up to the second grade author Tildes fills her pages with warm watercolor illustrations and all the mischief that kittens can create. Ginger loves to hide in paper bags; Pumpkin takes every opportunity to jump into a drawer. Together this inquiring group climbs curtains, and wanders across a bridge in the backyard.

The text is extremely simple, and most appropriate for reading aloud. Young ones will be entertained by the adventures of these seven inquisitive kittens.

The Dog Breeders Bible
This is a WONDERFUL book! It covers more than any other book on reproduction, and I won't have a litter without it by my side. I have read all the others, and they sit in my library. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS OUT OF PRINT! It is such a GREAT book! Get it if you can, wherever you can, if you ever plan to breed. What COMPLETE information, for ALL breeds.

Best book on dog reproduction--from conception to delivery
Over the last ten years, my husband and I have had several Boston Terrier litters, each time we not only consulted this book, but have read it from cover to cover multiple times. Each time we seemed to learn a new technique or lesson. This book takes you from a natural conception to an artifical conception to whelping naturally to c-sections. We saved many babies because of the author's ability to write exactly what needed to be done to tube feed, bottle feed or keep the baby warm. This book is a MUST for any breeder

Saved me a bundle of money.
I just wore out my Canon A2 and am in the process of replacing my camera. I am moving up in price and wanted to check out the Canon 1V. When I went to buy the manual on the 1V, they did not have it, so I bought the 1N to see how it rated. I actually found that my A2 (although not as rugged) has some important features that the 1N doesn't have. I shoot a lot of action photography, and the A2 shoots faster. The only advantage (besides the rugged bodystyle) is that you can fine tune it to 1/3 stops up to +/- 3 stops. However, the 1N is more than double the price for the A2. So at this point, would rather seek the EOS 3 or 1V. (Will decide after I read their manuals). The manual is very extensive and a very good resource if you own the camera, and I am sure that anyone that owns this camera is still smiling, because overall is still a great piece of equipment.

Excellent reference manual - starts where Canon stopped.
Precisely written manual offering tips and procedures for the Canon EOS-1n not given clearly in the manufacturer's manual. I found this manual logically written and easily digested; the last few chapters offer tips on accessories dedicated to the camera and a few words on the RS model.

Wonderful
Twenty years or more i read that book and i have read it again at different times. she started me out on historical /fiction. My mother was an avid fan of ms. whitney's before mom passed away. That is a good memory of my mom that i share! Thanks ms. whitney

This was one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read.
Columbella was the first Phyllis Whitney book that I read, but it still is very clear in my mind after perhaps twenty years. It is beautifully written, and so descriptive of the Caribbean with its sudden storms and usually sunny weather. The story, like so many of Phyllis Whitney books, is centered around mother and daughter.

Good? Bad?
I bought this cookbook a long time ago. The soup made from leftovers is extremely good, but the 1 teaspoon of pepper it calls for is a little extreme and burned my mouth. ( I suggest seasoning the soup to taste at the table. ) The Christmas tree ornament dough is very good and versatile. The only recipe I would not recommend is the dog biscuits- which looked terrible. I gave them to a dog owner who lives next door, and he said the dog ate them. Was he being polite, or where the dog biscuits virtually inedible? Beats me. This is a good book for small kids who want to cook.

A Great Guide for Entertaining and Teaching Children
This book is great! A fellow teacher of mine showed me this book that she uses every week for planning her lessons. The book explains how to make delicious food items and cool experiments. I have seen the children in great delight making their own frozen yogurt or taste testing honey that is made from different flowers. I enjoyed the book so much I intend to purchase it for my own collection and use it in my own classroom.
