Another solid work by Leto!!
Seducing Sullivan is missing some of the wit Leto spices her other works with, but she still delivers a winning tale. She is one of the best in creating such 'real' characters. They are not larger than life fictional characters, but everyday hard working people, that are so warm, vulnerable and caring. It is her strong suit, and it sets her away from other writers.
Seducing Sullivan is a book of wishes and what-ifs. Angela Harris goes to her 10 year High School reunion with one purpose in mind: to have her 'prom night' with Jack Sullivan. They were an item during high school, but Angela the 'good girl' kept putting Jack off. On prom night, she had prepared to give herself to him, but they ended in an argument and them breaking up. Now a decade later, Angela knows it is time to get over her teenage love for Jack, and put him behind her once and for all, but the feels the only what to do this is to finish that night, find out the reality falls short of years of fantasy.

She needs to face Jack and settle her girlhood dreams, but she also need to see what sort of man Jack has become. His parents were jet-setters and from what she saw in the Tabloids, Jack has taken after them. He is world famous photographer, and has been linked to one model after another. Hardly material to be considered for marriage and fatherhood. Angela needs to know what sort of man he is because of Dani, her daughter. That prom night 10 years ago, after their breakup, Jack went out with her best-friend and got drunk. The result was Dani. 5 Years ago, Dani's mother, Angela's best-friend was killed and she was made Dani's guardian. She had no idea Jack was the father of Dani until she began trying to track down the man who fathered her.

Angela is a very real person. She feels things for Jack, but does not trust him, she loves her best friend and utterly adores Dani, yet she also feels twinges of regret and resentment over how things turned out, betrayed by both her friend and Jack. This is quite human. She is no paperdoll character, but a complex woman.

Jack believes Angela never knew about his drunken night with her best friend, and fears Angela would never speak to him again if she found out. He never knew or suspected about Dani. However, he comes to the class union hoping to find Angela. He has never know a family or home, and something inside him is crying out for this sort of security, and his heart tells him Angela 'his angel' is the woman to heal him and give him hope for the future. He unprepared for the siren who sets out to seduce him, just to get over him, but he is not about to let her go.

Once again, Leto gives 3 dimensional characters that leap off the page, with crisp writing that just gets better with each book. She is fresh, original and a rising star in the romance field.

A book worth hunting for
After I'd read Ms. Leto's newest release, Good Girls Do!, I knew I had to hunt down her backlist, and I'm sure glad I was able to locate Seducing Sullivan. Seducing Sullivan doesn't have the playfulness of Good Girls Do!; what it has are a sympathetic hero and heroine who will tear at your emotions, involved in a believable and wrenching plot about love remembered and love reclaimed. The only problem I had initially was trying to decipher Angela's real reasons for "getting Jack Sullivan out of her system." This didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book, however and, in fact, helped me understand where Angela was coming from. Anyone would be very lucky to have her as a friend, as Jack ultimately discovers. In the end, I found my heart hurting for Jack as the story resolves itself.

I highly recommend you try and find this book.

Just add a kiss to ignite banked coals...
I really enjoyed Sullivan and "Angel." Ms. Leto knows how to develop her characters and show you what's going on inside their hearts and minds. (The author's rule of thumb: "show, don't tell" is often the main nemesis of the writer, both beginner and "old hand".) The motivation behind the love making is plausible and not gratuitous, if you know what I mean. (I really don't enjoy reading about characters who jump in the sack immediately after they have just met. To me, it seems contrived. Or, my sense is they are really only in it for the sex, and not the love.) Sullivan and Angel have that spark of love, and I enjoyed reading about them. They are caring and loving towards one another.

I had no idea that this was Ms. Leto's first book! I was going to look for her earlier titles so I could read what I'd missed! But I guess, no such luck.

As they say in New Zealand, "Good on ya!" Julie!!

Gets you thinking.......
I have read this book twice. Once on my own and again for a school assignment. I used this book because we had to get a book that was universally appealing which this book is. It speaks to many people about one of the most serious conflict that we face in this world. It thought it was an extremely great book that everyone can learn from. It has a scientific appeal to it that makes the reader interested as it did me. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be on their seat while reading this.

I thought this book was great.....
This book was great!! It deals with the problems of an interraccial relationship, racism and the likes. Anyone who loves a good mystery shouild read this book because it is really good!!

More than just a murder mystery
I have followed Christopher Golden's Jenna Blake Series for all seven books now. I can definitely say that Skin Deep was my absolute favorite. The mystery was intriguing yes, but what really hooked me was the social issue it dealed with. Racism, black and white inter-racial dating. This is something many teens deal with today and, just as the story, opinions about such a thing are strong. I like the way Golden presented both sides of the issue, black and white. It was commendable how he got under each race's skin, even though he is white himself. I loved the voices he gave everyone. I'm sad Damon was so weird though, cause I liked Damon. Oh well, LoL. Point is, get this book if you're looking for some action, high emotions and while you read it... this book might just get you thinking about why race has to be such a big issue in our lives.

Traveling the Lewis & Clark Trail

Just used it in the field: first rate
As others have noted, a well researched and well organized guide. There's now a competing publication endorsed by Stephen Ambrose, whose book "Undaunted Courage" sparked renewed national interest in Lewis and Clark. After browsing that one, published by Montana Magazine in a magazine format, I can report that 1) it has advertising, and 2) it omits details found in Julie Fanselow's book. Stick with Julie.

I do hope she has an updated edition in the works for the upcoming Lewis and Clark bicentennial. A few points of information need to be added or changed to keep pace with developments. For instance: starting in 2003, access to the Lolo Motorway, the L&C route from Montana to Idaho, will be by permit only.

If you only buy one guide for the trail, buy this one
A friend and I did the L&C trail last summer. We took this guide and some others. This was *by far* the best guide. We literally would not have been able to find some sites without it. We came to trust its advice so much that we consistently asked each other what "Julie" had to say about various parks, campsites, etc. I can't imagine doing the trail without this book.

Can't wait to get
After reading the reviews I went ahead and ordered the book, I look forward to its arrival because I am planning my honeymoon and would like to go visit some Lewis and Clark sites. I am hoping that this will help me plan.

A GREAT BOOK BY THE FIRST FAMILY OF FITNESS
This is an excellent book for beginners and hard-core fitness gurus alike. The book covers all the basics of health, fitness, and well-being. I can never get enough of Mark and Julie. The stories about their careers and the people they have worked with is fantastic. Their conversion to the power of strength training and the "how to" portions of the book can't be beat. This book is filled with great photos and the wealth of knowledge the authors have gained through out their lives. No where can you find the cardio-vascular part of fitness explained so well and made so simple. This book is a must have.

A REAL book!
It's for real. You have two world-class athletes - not bodybuilders or celebrities or fitness models, but two of the fittest people in the world here.

What makes this book different? (1) The Allens recognize that most people have other priorities in life, such as jobs and kids, and therefore can't live in the gym for 2 or 3 hours a day. (2) They also recognize - unlike many athletes - that not everyone shares their passion for their sport. They don't expect you to open this book wanting to do an Ironman of your own as they've done, but they won't discourage you from training for one either!

The book is loaded with sound, honest advice, tips, encouragement and motivation. If you want to get fit, well, you have to work at it. They're not trying to sell you seminars or supplements or some 'magic bullet' that only slims your wallet. They're not trying to relive past glory days either - the anecdotes are purposeful: meant to instruct and/or motivate.

There's several different 18-week workouts here, depending on your goals. All of them offer a balance between cardio (ANY cardio - not just running/swimming/cycling) and weight training. During the week, most workouts are about 30 minutes to an hour, with a longer one on the weekends, and an optional one for the true weekend warrior. Plus, the Allens offer plenty of suggestions for squeezing fitness into a busy schedule for full-time employees and full-time moms.

This isn't another feel-good-because-you-showed-up 'exercise' book. This book is for people who are serious about trying to raise their level of fitness, no matter what shape they're currently in.

I also strongly recommend reading it thoroughly for some of the nuggets hidden inside. For example, 5-6 small meals, each about the size of your two palms held together. An easy visual guide to portion sizes that you always have with you! How can you lose? Or better still, how can you not?

Excellent!
This book is direct & simple: You need to do significant work to see significant results. The Allens are not trying to sell you supplements or seminars or quick-fixes; they just pool their considerable experience to tell it like it really is.

It's not a book you can quickly skim for 'sound bites,' nor should you. If you try, you'll miss nuggets like "5-6 meals a day, each the size of your two palms held together." Now *that* I can visualize!

Although 1.5 to 2-hour workouts may not suit everyone's lifestyle, the Allens make several practical suggestions for fitting fitness into REAL life. Unlike authors who are 'trainers to the stars', these people recognize that most of us don't have fully adjustable, personal-trainer-on-demand kinds of lifestyles with huge spans of free time between gigs.

The weight training is uncomplicated and targets all the major muscle groups. This book also offers more cardio emphasis than most in a progressive, realistic and safe program. But don't be fooled. "Safe" in this book does NOT mean "unchallenging." Not from world-class athletes like these!

This book is worth every penny - especially if you USE it.

Terrific Book
This is one of my favorite books from Klutz. The kids I work with don't speak or read English but they can make all the animals here with no problems just by following the clear diagrams. We all love the photos of the many creations. At a recent family fair we sold some of our creations. The Angle and the spider are favorites as is the Gekko.

Addictlings
Klutz produces wonderful books, and this one is among their best. While some of their books are clearly for children (based on the types of crafts produced and the simplicity of the projects), Beadlings offers kid and adult appeal. I am over 30 and had a great time making these with a nine-year-old friend (he made the baby tree frog). As usual, Klutz's instructions are crystal clear. Beadlings is more creative than many similar beading books because it uses bugle and wonder beads in addition to seed beads. The book also offers some great suggestions about what to DO with all the cute little critters you make. A suggestion that they don't make is to use the beadlings as earrings--just attach to a French hook (which can be bought in bulk very cheaply). While they give enought beads to make the projects, anyone who wants to keep going will need a fresh supply, and the specific beads they use are not necessarily easy to find in craft shops. Many internet sites offer the supplies at great prices. I have bought a lot of beads to get variety in the project colors.

The Best Bead Book in the World
This book is my favorite out of all craft books. It has easy-to-follow instructions, clear illustrations for every step, and all the beads and wire you need to make all 19 creatures including insects, people and some animals (such as skunks). I liked it so much I bought it with my own money, but it is a great gift for kids aged 9-12.

YAY!
I read this book each week as Julie Richer published it on cyberteens years ago. I used to hide the fact that I printed each chapter from my mother because I was using up the ink space. I was very young then but I still have the copy of the book and I loved to read it over and over again, now I can buy the book and have it as a true keepsake! AWESOME story!

Intriguing
The line "What if you discovered you're not who you think you are?" can range from the angst of an adoption story to the massive deceptions of "The Matrix."

This particular story, once published in Cyberteens, is a science fiction tale of a pair of teens on the world of Cyberion. One of them, Orion, is haunted by sinister, disturbing dreams, in which a brilliant light is being shone down and parents are unable to hear cries for help...

Orion and Maya soon discover strange artifacts buried inside a cave. What are they? What does this mean to them? They are not normal archaeological finds, as they portend a massive and disturbing discovery for the kids....

This is a nice SF read, which poses some absorbing questions as the plotm goes along. Writing is evocative and descriptive, especially for descriptions of landscapes and surroundings. All is suitably otherworldly without being bizarrely so.

Atmosphere is handed EXTREMELY well in this novel; the beginning dream, with its aura of loneliness and powerlessness, is enough to send chills down the spine. Another scene I found immensely powerful was the "quest" in the desert, when Maya encounters a dead friend of hers. Richner's use of language effectively makes the reader see and feel these events. Occasionally the pace becomes uneven, though characterizations are strong and well-made.

A very enjoyable SF novel! Very recommended.

Wonderful
I read The Chosen Ones on Cyberteens years ago, and I can still remember the whole story almost completely. Not that many books get so completely stuck in my memory like this one did, and I'm so glad that now I can reread it now, and in a handheld copy instead of off of the computer screen.

A promising first novel
Julie Anne Parks shows flashes of brilliance with STORYTELLERS--with characters developing layers of intriguing sub-text. The plot is expertly paced, driving toward a riveting conclusion. I couldn't help liking this book. Why not five stars, then? Let me explain.

Julie Anne Parks loves the English language--that much is clear. She can turn a pretty phrase with the best of them. Unfortunately, this first-time novelist gets a little too wrapped up in "pretty." I found myself wishing she would skip the too-clever similes and get on with the story. I wanted to know more about her characters...particularly Ren (the male protagonist) and Keysa (his Tlingit Indian shaman mother.) I wanted to care about Braxton, the antagonist (who takes on the spirit of a spectre from Indian folklore) a little more than I did. While we saw glimpses of humanity in his character, I wanted to feel that the evil force controlling Braxton was the proverbial "bad guy," and not Braxton himself.

All in all, this is an enjoyable read. Time with Julie Parks' STORYTELLERS is time well spent. I'm looking forward to future novels as this writer matures in her craft.

Great horor a la Stephen King
At one time, publishing firms battled with top dollars to obtain the latest horror manuscript from best-selling author Braxton DeFoe. Several of his novels have been turned into popular movies. However, Braxton seems weary and unable to produce any more as the fast lanes of Southern California have taken its toll. Heeding his wife?s advice that they all need a change in venue, Braxton and his spouse Piper flee decadent Los Angeles for the idyllic North Carolina mountains.

Braxton hates the rural locale even after a warm welcome to Crooked Creek from their neighbors Mary Beth and Ren Wyatt, who is the local Storyteller. Ren turns into a catalyst of sorts as Braxton sees him as a rival in storytelling and for the affections of his wife. No one yet realizes the evil or is it jealousy that is now taking over Braxton?s every thought and action.

The STORYTELLERS is a powerful drama that keeps the reader in a perpetual state of bewilderment between supernatural possession and insanity. The psychological or parapsychological tale works because the characters seem authentic, which turn their activities and interrelationships into quite a plot. Fans of psychological horror need to provide plenty of time to finish Julie Anne Parks? one-sitting novel because they will want to keep reading in order to decide whether Braxton is a lunatic or in need of an exorcist.

Harriet Klausner

Evocative of NC Mountains and Native American Lore
I particularly enjoyed Parks' skillful evocation of the Blue Ridge Mountain milieu, and the sense of contact -- through the storyteller's tales and the events of the book alike -- with both human and elemental forces from times past.

Excellent Book
If the armed forces uses it and bases their clinical practice guidelines on it, it's got to be good, right? It is. I use this book in nurse telephone triage for a military pediatric clinic with 2700 patients. The book is spiral bound and easy to flip pages, and the pages stay open to the topic you are using. Topics are alphabetized which saves time when searching for a certain topic. There is a very useful table of contents at the front. The home care instructions are straight forward and acceptable to our parents. It doesn't have all the topics you would need (that's what pediatricians are for), but tab topics you use most, add a drug book and a pediatrician, and you're ready to go.

The most comprehensive/user freindly telephone triage book.
When it came time to select a book to use as a guideline for triage assessment, I searched through 15 books and a couple of computerized systems. This book is the easiest to follow, without being too simplistic. The format is exceptional and key questions are clear, concise and still open-ended enough to prevent "leading" your patient. There are cross-references for each complaint, as well as home care measures for each ailment. The final points are the blank formatted pages for writing your own protocols, and tracking charts to complete QA. 5 stars hardly seem enough!

The one book to have!
I have read and used several telephone triage books for our very busy department. This is the one book our staff uses first and most. The patient complaints are laid out by system, making the protocols quick to find and easy to follow. I recommend it to anyone!

A good book!
This was a good book! You'll love the heartwarming story of Tom and Elizabeth as they face a trial that could destroy their marriage. But I too, was a little disturbed at the graphic sexual sequences. After all I believe there should be a difference between romance novels and Christian romance novels. I mean, just look at Phillipians 4:8. Yes I know that God has designed a husband and a wife to have that type of an intimate relationship. But I just think the book could've been a little less graphic. But aside from that, though, it was a pretty good book. I thought it had a good story line, even though at times I felt like sceaming at Elizabeth for not believing that Tom loved her even though he continually did things to prove his love to her. Anyway this would have been a wonderful book if it would've been just a little less graphic.

Excellent
If you've ever read "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers and enjoyed it, you'll love "By Love Redeemed". With a similar story line and excellent writing style and skill, I highly reccommend this book to anyone.

Great read!
I thought this book was a great read...and a great sequel to "In Honor Bound." One question though: where are the "graphic sexual sequences"? If hugging and kissing and the indication that a married couple does in fact have intimate relations is "graphic," I'm not sure how P J Clark would describe the Bible's Song of Solomon! Anyway, loved the book and the other two in the series.

Enjoyable Whether you Like Cats or Not!
Julie Beard - My True Love Gave to Me Anne Clancy looks to be celebrating Christmas alone - not even her black cat Niner is around having been missing these last four days. Hearing what she thinks is his bell, she rushes out in a snowstorm calling for him and is hit by a car. When a most startling blue-eyed gorgeous hunk of man revives her, she assumes it is her neighbors friend who she was to meet that evening - darn but she could have warned her he was drop dead gorgeous! Only it wasn't the neighbor's friend - and it wasn't even Wisconsin, USA 1975 anymore either. She was catapulted back in time and mistaken for this gorgeous hunk of a medieval knight's intended bride. Now what's a modern girl to do? Divine short story with a lovely ending.

Jo Beverley - A Gift of Light Kitty Mayhew was alone working on a tapestry trying to figure out what was wrong with her mother's cat who was making the strangest sounds and putting her body through some very strange contortions. It was her maid Polly that let her know that the problem was that the cat was in heat and hadn't she heard the 'tom cats' making all kinds of racket at night. The very worst of the 'tom cats' was a big black one that she found out belonged to a neighbor. Armed with all the dignity she could muster Kitty went to the neighbor insisting they control their 'tom' cat from courting her female. What she discovered was a very impudent owner who didn't seem to see that this was as much of a problem as she did. In fact, this rascally 'Lord Chatterton' thought that this little spitfire needed to be taught the finer points of courting - human style. Through a ruse using the servants courtship as an excuse, he talked Kitty into the two of them acting as chaperones to find out if the servants budding courtship would last if it didn't have to be kept clandestine and would be brought into the open.

This was a cute, lovely story with some sweet and sassy dialog. Lord Chatterton was the initiator of trying to teach a lesson in courtship, but it was Kitty who finally taught Tom, Lord Chatterton, what it really meant to let in the 'light of the Christmas season' and truly love.

Barbara Bretton - Home for the Holidays This was a darling story told partly from Sebastian, a Maine Coon cat's perspective and partly from his human owners, Jill and David. It is Christmas Eve and David and Jill are divorcing. Jill and David had been together since college; loving each other thru the hard times then slowly falling apart as David's need to advance his career and make more and more money was more important than spending time with his family. It would take Sebastian, the cat they both loved, on a journey that they could follow - to make David remember that the most important thing he needed was Jill and that they were partners - and that they were once happiest when all they had was a little money but whole lot of love. Sweet story.

Lynn Kurland - The Gift of Christmas Past I really liked this offering from Lynn Kurland. Sir Sweetums, Abigail Garrett's cat, has been missing, and her life feels as though it has gone down the drain, no job, no cat, no unemployment insurance, and no boyfriend just a couple of days before Christmas - she felt like George Bailey and was ready to jump off a bridge into the river. Well, she didn't exactly jump but she did fall in and when she came up for air she found herself in a cesspool of a moat. Not only a moat, but she was no longer in Wisconsin, but England and it wasn't 1998 anymore but 1238! She dragged herself out of the moat, and made her way to the gate at the top of the drawbridge - only to find a surly man dressed up like a medieval knight holding a sword and he didn't quite know what to make of her either! This was a really darling story with Sir Sweetums, who had passed by his ninth life, and was now a guardian angel cat who had one last human he had to find a suitable mate for. Very nice and romantic as these two people from different times had to come to grips with each other and the truth of who they were! Very humorous as well!

Abigail and Miles
As usual I bought this anthology for Lynn Kurland's story, but found the whole anthology to be excellent. And I liked all the cats involved as well. But it's on Lynn's story that I would like to focus my review. After losing her job, boyfriend and social security Abigail Moira Garrett is led back in time by the ghost of her dead cat Sir Maximilian Sweetums by way of Murphy's pond and a castle's moat. Abigail finds herself in thirteenth century England at Miles de Piaget's keep (Miles is the uncle of Kendrick Stardust of Yesterday's hero). After having cleaned up Abigail faces her situation. She and Miles fall in love and marry, and De Piaget family welcome Abigail warmly into their midst. Lynn proves she knows how to write the novella too. It was humorous and witty and the love of Abigail and Miles portrayed with her costumary tenderness. Abigail and Miles are a great pair: She a warm and independent heroine and he a gruff but outspoken knight (quite liberal for his time). And it's exclusively set at Miles' dilapidated keep Speningethorpe. Abigail and Miles are back in The More I see you and Miles has a supporting role in his brother Robin's story If I had you. But I still wish that this one had been a full length novel. Anyway Abigail and Miles are two of my favourite characters in Lynn's De Piaget series.

Wonderful stories
I bought this book for the Lynn Kurland story. It is wonderful. Miles and Abby are made for each other. I loved it for the time-travel aspect. Lynn knows how to capture the essence of the times she sends her hero's and heroin's back to.

If you want to carry on reading about Miles and Abby's life together read THE MORE I SEE YOU, it is set about 20yrs. after this story. You won't be dissapointed.
