Great
This one is great. I bought it for the Nora Roberts, but ended up tracking down the sequels for Heather Graham's Dark Stranger as well. They are all complete novels not short stories. If you are a Nora Roberts fan, this is the same story that came out in paperback a while back. It was first published here (McGreggor story of Ian). I started reading Elizabeth Lowel after reading this as well. I normally don't go for historical, but these were nice.

Caine MacGregor's story
The editorial review above is not this book. This book is Caines story from the MacGregor books. The description from the back of the book:

TEMPTING FATE

The MacGregor clan was close knit. Caine MacGregor's sister had married Diana Blade's brother, but the emotions Caine felt on meeting Diana had nothing to do with family - and everything to do with desire.

Caine was something of a ladies' man, a demon in the courtroom and in the bedroom. Diana was an ice princess, a perfect product of her proper Bostonian upbringing - and totally at odds with her Comanche blood. It was fate. Caine knew he was the one to storm her castle walls and release the passionate woman within. Fate was meant to be tempted.

This is a great book. You can find more reviews under THE MACGREGORS: SERENA - CAINE.

Awesome believable book
This book along with the first one (Time Was) are outstanding books in my opinion. The entire storyline is believable (along with going through time, etc). I loved how the entire book was just one suprise after another, and kept me interested to keep reading. Highly recommended.

Many great stories, but also some boring ones.
I really like this book, don't get me wrong, but I was upset because some of the stories were just too boring or hard to understand. I skipped over Jerusalem's Lot because I could not stand the layout, and I was disapointed by stories such as Gray Matter, Night Surf and I Am the Doorway. Gray Matter was just odd, and I Am the Doorway was not developed enough. Night Surf, however, was just downright stupid. There was no action or excitment, just conversation. But there were also many great stories in this book such as The Boogeyman, Quitters Inc., The Ledge, I Know What You Need, and my personal fav, Strawberry Spring. Quitters, Inc. was a great twist as was Strawberry Spring. The Boogeyman left me with many sleepless nights and believe me, it will leave you with some, too. This is a great book to reread and is full of chills and thrills. If the story doesn't suit you, just skip it and read on. Hope you enjoy it!

Read it while working the night shift, it's scarier that way
Twenty stories are contained within this gem of a collection. To be honest not all these stories are great but there are enough that are to make it a worthwhile purchase. Trucks is the one I've remembered after all these years. Imagine if all the vehicles out there didn't just come alive but wanted to kill you and everyone else. You may have seen an average movie called Maximum Overdrive with Emilio Estevez which was based on this story but don't be put off. The story in the book is a lot better and you're imagination is better than any movie.
Ever wanted to quit smoking? Then Quitters Inc. is for you, it's a great one. If you're really into beer then Gray Matter is for you. Children of the Corn is another classic that way surpasses the average movie made from it. You've got aliens controlling a guy in I am the Doorway. Lawnmower man is pretty good to which the movie made from has nothing to do with this brilliant story. A few movies have also knocked of Battleground which is about toy soldiers coming to life but no one can beat the original King version and your imagination.
If you're a King fan or a fan of short horror stories then this book is a must buy. It's actually a shame some of these stories weren't made into full length novels because there's some good ideas here.

Stephen King's Best Short Story Collection, The Boogeyman!
I recommend this very highly if you are a fan of horror fiction mostly because this is King's anthology that includes one of the scariest, most disturbing short stories of all time (at least that I've read) entitled simply, The Boogeyman. That childhood monster that never really goes away. If you have any conscience what so ever this story will rattle you, I can only think of two other short stories that I would say are scarier; H.P. Lovecraft's The Rats in The Walls and Algernon Blackwood's The Wendigo. The rest of the stories in the collection are undeniably King (if you liked Salem's Lot you get a glimpse of the shadows in the town in Jerusalem's Lot, a fantastic atmosphere piece). It's fun reading, what short stories should be and IF (note the capitalization) you have a love of entertaining, interesting reading you just might want to pick this one up. If you're not particularly a Stephen King fan I'd recommend borrowing this book from your local library just to read The Boogeyman, 'cause it's gonna end up in future horror fiction text books.

The Queen of the Trilogies Strikes Again !
Nora Roberts is one of the few 'constants' in romantic fiction today. As an author, she paints vivid characters and sets a colorful scene in your mind where her story will unfold. Her books never fail to capture your interest from the first paragraph and hold it till the last sentence. Her trilogies are beyond compare. 'Dance Upon the Air' is the first of a new trilogy that we fans have been panting for. As she did with her 'Donaovan Legacy' novels, the backdrop here is witchcraft. Trust me when I tell you, when you've finished reading this book, you'll wish you knew where to find a local, practicing 'good witch'. Mia Devlin finds the completion to the 'circle of three' in new islander Nell Channing. She knows Nell is running away, but sees in her the promise of the future. As in all Nora Roberts books, or hero Zack Todd is big, brainy and beautiful. The perfect knight in a shinig sheriff's badge. You get immersed in the love developing between Zack and Nell, and intrigued by Mia's spell casting and 'calling up the wind'. Ripley Todd, sure to be the star of one of the two remaining installments share some of the wittiest and most biting dialog with Mia. Their all too brief altercations will having laughing out loud. I can, and have blindly recommended Nora Roberts books to all my friends without reservation, and 'Dance Upon The Air' is no exception. I can not wait until the fall release of the second book of the trilogy. Thanks again Nora! We can always depend on you !

Dance upon the Air
If you are a Nora Roberts fan as I am, you will love this book...the first of a trilogy..it is an example of Nora Robert's fabulous understanding of the basic research done on her topics. Witch craft is the center of this book, as Wine was in her wonderful "The Villa". Magic is the watchword and terrific character development makes this a first rate page turner. I couldn't put it down...and was disapointed that "Heaven and Earth"..the 2nd of the trilogy wasn't available yet. You'll love Mia, the town witch and Nell, her student and Ripley and Nell and Zach's relationship..buy it, you'll love it. Once you read one Nora Roberts you will want them all...anjd she is a varitable book factory!

Pure Magic
Nora Roberts' books that involve both romance and magic are always my favourites. "Dance Upon the Air" is no exception. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the second in the series ("Heaven and Earth"). I read "Dance" in one sitting--that says a lot. Her characters are well drawn and the story is fantastic. Nell's plight--running from an abusive husband and building a new life for herself--blends seamlessly with Nell's discovery of her hidden legacy--witchcraft. Under Mia's guiding hand and Ripley's grudging assistance, Nell blooms and rediscovers herself--and rediscovers the joys of loving.
I highly recommend this book--as I do all of Nora Roberts' books. If you like the combination of love and casting spells, I advise you to read "The Donovan Legacy," a 3-in-1 book about three hereditary witches and their loves.

Nora's Making Magic Again
Nora Roberts can write romance as can no one else. She is a master at describing people, places and things and has a way of making you feel you are right there, living alongside her characters. In Tears of the Moon, Brenna O'Toole is the perfect example of the proud Irish woman and the development of her love story with Shawn Gallagher is as fiery and magicical as any romance reader could want. Nora Roberts has that magic touch that brings the story alive for her readers. She's definitely a great romance writer, but her extraordinary storytelling ability really shines through when she writes about Ireland. I just ordered Heart of the Sea, the last book in her current Irish trilogy and can't wait for it to arrive. My dearest wish is that she write more books about Ireland and it's mystical faerie people. She does it so well.

Second in a Terrific Series
Normally I'm somewhat leery of romance stories that implement some kind of supernatural aspect, but Nora Roberts manages to put in a magic and faeries without it seeming out of place, or at least not too much out of place. The legend of Carrick is a romantic theme for the series, the titles of the trilogy coming from the gifts he brought for his Gwen.

This second book is a continuation of the Ardmore trilogy, and is a great standalone as well. It follows the story of Shawn Gallagher, the dreamy, artistic sibling of the Gallagher family. Shawn is sooo oblivious - to Brenna's attraction and also to her little sister's attraction as well. And isn't it just so true to life? In any case, Brenna O'Toole is tired of being seen in his eyes as just the handy fix-it-all girl, the friendly, innocuous girl next door. She's always had a little something something for the poetic and amazingly handsome Shawn, and she figures it's time that he found out about it.

It's great how Roberts details the way Shawn's thoughts about Brenna turn from friendly to something deeper and more serious. It seems so natural and realistic the way that he learns to realize and take Brenna as a woman instead of just a friend. The gradual realization of Brenna's feelings for him and his own feelings for her is well written and thought out. Another conflict that they have to deal with is about Shawn's music, which Brenna stubbornly believes should be published and which Shawn is somewhat more insecure about. The intervention and exasperation of Carrick, the Fairy Prince, is both amusing and touching. All in all, this book was a great read.

Tears of the Moon

tears of the moon
Tears of the moon is the second in another one of nora roberts irish trilogies...this series has to do with the Gallagher siblings:Aidan,Shawn, and Darcy. The first as well as the second revolve around the prince of faeries Carrick and his lady love Gwen. When Gwen refuses jewels as the profession of carricks love wanting words from his heart instead carrick curses them in a lovelorn spell that only can be broken when three pure of heart fall in love. with jewels of theSun you were introduced to the siblings and future hopefuls to break the spell.Aidan the oldest fell in love and married Jude Frances Murray who resided on fairy hill were gwens ghost is haunting. The second book Tear of the moon focuses more on character develpoment with Shawn Gallagher cook and talented musician now residing in the cottage on fairy hill passing his time writing beautiful lyrics that should be published but willing to sit back and go with the flow not making ripples of his own and firey tomeboy Mary Brenna O'Toole. It seems Brenna as the folks call her, has a special "yen " for shawn and after debating whether or not to act on it and tell confess her feelings she decides to tell all.Shawn at first is shocked and spurns her, and to make matters worse Brenna's younger sister Mary Kate has decided that Shawn should be hers...Throwing ole Carrick and Gwen into some very magical ways.Jude and Aidan i enjoyed more in this book and the subplot with the pub and the land around it being engaged into some profit making deal makes it all the more interesting...will Shawn get tired of playing the same cards, and see his songs are his real talent and Brenna is the girl he needs or will mary kate be the surprise and end up being the girl shawn wants.....read it and see.....

Slightly disappointing
I am a big fan of Nora Roberts work (especially her JD Robb series) but was left wanting when I finished this. This volume contains the complete trilogy of the Donovan cousins. The writing overall is good but I felt that the storylines relied too heavily on the presence of magic and the supernatural as a substitute for a more juicy plot or character development. The same theme/basic problem was at the heart of all three stories so by the time I finished the final part of the trilogy I felt I could almost have written it myself.

However if you are a strong fan of Robert's writing, then you will probably enjoy this book, but it won't be one you read a second time.

The Donovan Legacy
I am a long time reader of Nora Roberts. So far, every book that I have read by Nora Roberts I just loved and I could not put it down.
I just got finished with this book. I loved it!! I could not put it down even though I had other things that where time important.
This book is about a family who happen to be all witches. There are three books in one so to speak so you get to read about three wonderful loves and their lives, through all the good times along with the bad. These three books go in order and you don't want to read them out of order or you will spoil all of the fun.
These cousins are great friends and they each have a special 'talent' that helps and forms their character through out all three books.
You will soon find out how much family means to the cousins and how they stick together no matter what, the witches will hang people from the ceiling, read peoples minds, and save lives all within these books. This is one book is one that you will not want to miss and you will not be able to put down till you finish it. Enjoy this book...I know you will because I loved it.

Marvelously Mystical
The Donovan Legacy is a great read. I actually own each book separately and I've reread them so many times they are almost falling apart, so I was thrilled with this new 3-in-1 edition. I love the way Nora Roberts develops her characters, they are people you can care about. I love the touch of fantasy and the humor. I've yet to be disappointed by Nora Roberts.

A True Jewel !
No surprises here, folks. Nora has hit the literary nail squarely on the head once again with the first installment of a new trilogy. Anyone who has read Nora's "Born in..." or "Dream" trilogies can appreciate the fact that these books are SO worth waiting for. Romance, laughter, witt and humor mix together seamlessly in "Jewels of the Sun". Set against the simple rustic beauty of Ireland, Nora begins spinning her newest web with the Gallagher family. Aidan, owner of the local pub, falls hard and fast for 'Yank' want-to-be writer Jude Murray, whose come to Ireland to trace her roots, escape the husband who discarded her, and find her place in the world. The secondary characters we know we'll get to catch up with in the coming two novels will make you howl with laughter and the legends of the ghosts that inhabit Ireland's "Fairie Hill" searching endlessly for lost love will touch your heart. Nora Roberts is the best. This book is proof positive.

I can't WAIT to go to Ireland ...
I swear Nora Roberts must get kickbacks from the Irish Tourism board. Who WOULDN'T want to go try and find a village like Ardmore, and the wonderful people in it? Some readers have complained of Jude's "weak" character, and if I had tossed the book away halfway through I might have agreed. But the point is that people do develop and grow, and we got to see Jude get over her insecurities. People who don't think she's a realistic character have clearly never been on the insecure side. And Aidan -- well, who wouldn't want to spend hours in his company? Charming, a captivating storyteller, a romantic, a man who knows himself and his home. I am so looking forward to reading about Shawn and Brenna, and then of course Darcy and ... whomever. I'm not normally into books where ghosts and faeries are spoken of matter-of-factly, but even that aspect of the story was enchanting. I read the book to my husband in 2 days of driving on the way back from vacation, and even he (a Stephen King fan) enjoyed it!

The Master did it again
Jude F. Murray decides she needs a break. She quites her job and flies to Ireland to stay at her grandmother's cousin cottage for 6 months. Being a sensible and analytical woman, Jude doesn't expect to find herself living in a haunted house or believing in myth stories behind it. But Jude finally steps over the line of Aidan Gallagher, the oldest of the Gallaghers who own a bar near the cottage, who seems able to move her heart in a strange kind a way. Now, surrounded by the beautiful scene of Ireland, Jude and Aidan are ready to make their own love story.

I always love Nora Roberts and her Ireland story. Not to mention I always love Ireland too since to me that country is magic. This romance gives you the best spirit of Ireland. The myths, the scenery, the hospitality, the tradition and of course the love. I couldn't wait to read the next sequel: Tears of the Moon, and finds out what happen to Shawn Gallagher.

A page-turner, but not as good as the first novel!
What can I say? Nora Roberts is the "Martha Stewart" of Romance Novels... And typically I love everything she writes... (Do you sense a 'but' coming?') If so, read on...

The latest installment of the 'three sisters' trilogy features the life of Deputy Ripley Todd. Deputy Todd, a skeptic, with a traumatic magic-related childhood experience, has refused to use her powers ever since. Enter the hero... Mac Booke. Mac is an 'absent-minded professor type' whose investigations into the paranormal has somehow landed him on Three Sister's Island.

As usual, Nora has the setting, the characters, and the culture of a small town down pat. Her main and side characters are endearing and engaging.. Particularly, her hero, Mac Booke.

But... In my opinion, her heroine, Ripley, just didn't seem to 'fit in' to a novel with a paranormal setting.

Ripley (okay, I kept thinking 'believe it or not') seems like she would be more at home in a novel with a small-town murder-mystery theme... Than as the third sister in a coven of witches.

While I suspect Nora, wanted us to feel sympathetic towards Rip for her reluctance to practice magick, instead I was frustrated by her pig-headedness. I found it hard to believe that someone like Mia wouldn't have given her a 'kick in the pants' or confronting her about her problem /ages/ ago.

My second problem with this novel was the villain. Bringing back the possessed ex-boyfriend from the first book was an unwelcome surprise. With so many challenges the girls might face, do we need to bring a possessed mental patient into the picture? This seemed heavy handed, even for Nora, who is quite notable for creating, exciting and believable villains.

Overall, the inclusion of Mac, and the return to 'three sisters island' made this book worth reading... But I had to deduct one star for the 'evil-ex-husband ™' and for the 'Ripley' character which I just could noth sympathize with.

Terrific Romance with a Dose of Paranormal
In this, the second installment of the Three Sisters Island trilogy, Ms. Roberts has once again hit the jackpot in this clever mix of romance, wit, and witchcraft.

Deputy Ripley Todd was a little irritated. Outsider MacAllister Booke had just rented Mia Devlin's yellow cottage for the duration of his stay on Three Sisters Island, off the coast of Massachusetts. Bad enough that Ripley wanted to rent the cottage to escape her home and newlywed brother, Zack, and his likeable wife, Nell. But Mac is visiting to conduct research on witchcraft and its history on the island. As legend would have it, three witches who separated it from the mainland created Three Sisters Island. Nell, Ripley, and Mia are descendants of the original three, only Ripley shows great disdain for the power she was born with.

In a crafty mix of the paranormal complete with visions and dreams of the past, Ripley comes face to face with her ancestor and senses a dark force that could destroy all that she holds dear. As the romance between the bookish Mac and Ripley builds, she is forced to let down some of her tough gal defenses and learns to trust him and their love. And the steamy love scenes will melt the pages as Ripley's supernatural powers take her attraction to Mac to a whole new level. Only time will tell if Ripley will join forces with her fellow sisters, Mia and Nell, to bind together and repel the evil that threatens to destroy them as it did their predecessors.

Fascinating characters, a picturesque seaside town, and paranormal events form the foundation in this riveting read. Even the romance reader not enamored of the supernatural will find the allure in this latest from Ms. Roberts, who just keeps getting better and better.

Nora Roberts is a Godess
I am never dissapointed to read any of Noras books. When I read the first installment of this series, I couldnt wait to get my hands on the next one, and now I anxiously await the third and final installment. The first book explains how three witches from the past created an island to protect themselves. The series tells of the descendants from those witches. The stories do not focus on total paranormal, though they offer the readers enough of the paranormal to be believable in todays day and age. This book focuses on Ripley Todd, the Island Sherriffs sister, and deputy. She is the most obstinate of the three, not willing to accept her powers, though destiny forces her to accept. She becomes the unwilling (& willing) subject of study to the man who she would fall in love with. That takes care of two witches, now we wait impatiently to see what becomes of the third and most powerful, (and humerous) witch Mia. I can hardly wait to read what happens next. Noras trilogys are the best. They keep you wanting more and more, and she consistantly gives more. Excellent!

3 romances in one whole book plus a whallop of mystery!
Nora Roberts has never dissapointed me...I've read almost most of her books and she always manages to captivate me. This book is one of my favorites..Montana Sky is a truly great book.

The "Women of Mercy" are wonderful characters. Tess with her bold, independent, devil-may-care attitude would have you envying her for her strength and attitude. Willa with her capable strength and her iron will..the way she shoulder every day problems is remarkable. Lily with her quiet strength which helped her survive every gust of bad luck that faith delt her.

Ahh..and ofcourse their men..Ben with his balant sexuality could make your toes curl and Neathedral ways is perfect for Willa's stubborn ways.

Nate with his smooth..charming cowboy ways is perfect for Tess' restlesness.

Adam with his calming, tenderness, and patience is perfect for Lily's battered soul.

The mystery is great..it just keeps you guessing..I do adore mystery but my heart belongs to romance...and mix is a great thing!

Classic Nora Roberts, classic romance
This book is one of my favorite Nora Roberts novels. It is also one of my favorite contemporary romance books. Montana Sky has everything: love, laughter, fear, romance, greed, passion... it doesn't disappoint in any respect.

Montana Sky is the story of the three Mercy sisters: Willa (the main character of the story) who was raised on Mercy ranch with her jerk of a father, Tess, the oldest who was raised in california and thinks Montana is as out of nowhere as any place, and Tess, the middle sister, who was in an abusive relationship and is on the run.

Montana Sky focuses on the three sisters and the men in their lives: Ben, Nate, and Adam. Each man is definitely dream man material, and are very strong characters. The woman are also strong, and are not willing to be ruled by their men.

The book tells about the year the sisters are forced to live on the Mercy ranch, in order to inherit, as stipulated by Jack Mercy, their father. Nora Roberts definitely did her research on ranch life, because as far as I could tell, it was all very accurate. She brings to life the hardships that occur being a rancher, especially a woman rancher, and she also manages to showcase the beauty that is Montana.

This is a wonderful novel that celebrates life. Though death is involved, and in a very grotesque way, it is a novel of finding family, and finding love. I was very surprised by the ending, as I had had no idea who was the killer. I have reread this book many times and enjoyed it more and more each time. The three sisters differences make an enjoyable cast of characters that any romance reader will love.

Romance and mystery -- a great combo
I just read "Montana Sky" last week on vacation - and a good thing, too! I never would have been able to get up for work since I couldn't put the book down until 2 every morning! This was the first Nora Roberts suspense novel in which I have not been able to guess who the killer was until he was actually revealed. I enjoyed it so much I started reading it again to my husband - who's really a Stephen King fan, not into "romance novels" - on the drive home. He liked it so much he has to finish the half we didn't get to on his own! The developing relationship between the three sisters, while you KNEW they would bond, was still a lot of fun to see happening. Willa and Tess were both great characters, and while I found Lily a little too meek for my liking, the strength that she developed redeemed her at the end. Also, Ben was the classic NR hero - tough, gentle, romantic, a bully - you know, the kind you can't help falling in love with. Just be warned - if you're looking for a classic "romance novel", you may have the same complaints some others have about the violence in this book. It does get a little graphic.
