Total sweety
Dr Nelson is a total sweety. He gave me a copy of the book free. He also set me up with a therapist that is a personal friend of his outside the HMO that he worked for.
Total sweety!

Excellent synthesis of Eastern philosophy and Western scien
At last, an enlightened psychiatrist describes a way to distinguish mystical experience and creative inspiration from regressive psychosis. Nelson integrates Eastern Philosophy and Western neuroscience into a unique and practically helpful synthesis that appeals to educated people who see consciousness as more than brain chemistry, but who also discern the flaws in R.D. Laing's and Thomas Szasz's now outdated views on psychotic experience. Highly recommended!

Best of Kundalini
I feel that this book and Kundalini, Evolution and Enlightenment edited by John White are two of the best, well-rounded books on Kundalini. This is due to their holistic input of theories, personal accounts and scientific research. Both books show the individual/social aspects. In addition, this author does a wonderful job of making the distinction between regressive illness and progressive transformation - a much needed view! These two books should always be available as invaluable resources for professionals and/or those with a serious interest in the topic.

Fabulous Bible!
Every time someone sees my Bible, they want one! Finally, my spiritual guide admired it and I gave up my tattered copy to him. Now I'm replacing it with the exact same one. This Bible has MANY useful study features. "Word Wealth" (for key words) discusses the root of the Hebrew or Greek word and the word's various uses throughout the Bible. There are extensive footnotes on nearly every page giving additional information and background on key verses; the section on God's covenant with Abraham, alone is worth the price of the book. In addition, there are maps, timelines, comparisons of the four Gospels---all in an easy to read format (NKJ version). Each NT book is preceded by a discussion of the authorship---my only complaint is that these discussions don't go deeply enough into this topic. Also, it's a good size: by no means small, but compact enough to haul with you to church. Several scholars teamed on this Bible, which is written to match Hayford's beliefs (I would say that it supports a conserative, not fundamentalist, viewpoint). To better benefit from all the information packed into this Bible, take the time to read the keys and symbols at the front of the book. This Bible is sturdy and well-bound: after several years of regular use, it had experienced no binding problems whatsoever. Overall, a fabulous Bible that you will use for years to come, with study aids that will enlighten and enrich. Strangely, Amazon.com offers seemingly the same hardcover version at 3 different price points, so look for the least expensive (around $27).

Holy Bible New King James Version Spirit=Filled
This has become my favorite Bible. It has study notes written by several present day scholars that present both present knowledge and the opinions of ancient scholars. The New King James Bible is easy to read. The study notes allow the reader to follow up on both a subject and word. In addition through out the text are notes on Hebrew and Greek words and Kingdom dynamics that relate the text to present conditions. I would rate it as the best study bible available today.

Good teaching notes, great word study, and helpful insites.
My Sister was very blessed by this study Bibble. It geve her new insites and strengthed her faith.

Hunting the Sun: A Passion for Grouse

Great Book
Lundrigan tells it like it truly is in Northern Minnesota, sharing his pains, passions, and sorrows, in this memoir of his life journey where partridge hunting is the moderator and one of the few constants. Without trying he makes a case for the necessity of hunting, not to eat but to have one's spirit filled.

Much of the story takes place in the land of my own journeying, and I followed the story on my topographical maps. After reading I felt a tremendous urge to go there, to see the land Lundrigan writes about. I didn't. The journey outlined is not one of the physical, but of the spirit, impossible to recreate, but totally able to be experienced within one's soul on a brisk fall day.

This is absolutely the best book I have read on the spirit of the hunt. I recommend it to absolutley anyone who has experienced the thrill of flushing a covey and not known how to explain it; Lundrigan explains it perfectly.

A series of artistic yet manly grouse hunting tales.
In this book, the author takes the reader on several grouse hunting trips over a period of many years in an area of farmlands and woodlots in the upper midwestern U.S. The reader is treated to stories of the lives of Scandanavian farmers, living and dead, as well as insights drawn from the author's personal experiences. The sport, the outdoor environment, the game, and the hunters blend in ways that are at times humorous, at times poignant, and often seen with an artistic eye. This is an excellent book for anyone who has spent more than a few days hunting grouse in the hardwoods of eastern North America.

The autobiography of an excellent grouse hunter
Straight from the heart. Ted Lundrigan's "Hunting the Sun" is a passionate autobiography of his grouse hunting days. Chapter by chapter, Ted talks you through one of his many hunting trips. The man is clearly an authority on grouse but also on life. In several sections, Ted reflects over key events in his life (Vietnam, the death of his daughter) giving the reader a true insight into his life and personality.

In particular, I liked some of the later chapters when Ted talks about hunting with friends or hunting over the ground of a pair of local farmers.

An outstanding example of military art
Images From The Storm will appeal to two audiences: those who appreciate treatises on early military art and those with an interest in the Civil War. The Virginia Historical Society unearthed a treasure trove of photos by Union photographer Robert Knox Sneden: this shares his handwritten memoir and a sampling of his storehouse of nearly 1,000 watercolors, sketches and engravings about the war. An outstanding example of military art.

Civil War Artwork like you've never seen!!
If you love to see pictures from a fascinating time in American history, this is your book. The details and the description really put you there to experience what was happening. No flowery, romatic view of war from this guy!! This book provides
extra pictures that were not included in "Eye of the Storm".
Don't miss this piece of history.

A Fresh Viewpoint
Private Sneden, a survivor of the Civil War was long forgotten when this was published recently. What is so vital about this book is that it is untouched by politicians, generals, and other propogandists of that era. Furthermore it is done through the viewpoint of the artists eyes, and done by his hand - without the editorial expections of the time.

It is so refreshing to see this long studied subject being given a fresh viewpoint from someone who was actually there.

Recommeded for any serious student of the Civil War.

This book should be on the shelf of every Hoosier
This book is the most exhaustive study of Indiana natives available today. Written in the same conversation style that he uses in his newspaper column, Nelson Price relates the "rise to fame and fortune" stories of many familiar personalities. And to receive such a terrific hardcover book for this price is almost criminal. Everyone should buy a copy today!

Excellent gift book
I was thoroughly entertained and captured by this book. Furthermore, I was thrilled to receive such a large and handsome hardcover book. Everyone should give a copy to every Hoosier they know!

Indiana Natives Immortalized
What a great book! This book compiles a list of all of the great Hoosiers. I was even suprised to discover Indiana natives that I never knew about. The book is informative and has a great looking cover. I'm going to give several for gifts this holiday season.

International Children's Story Bible
This is the perfect beginners bible story book for preschool children thru 6-7 years old. The stories are short and to the point and on a level they can understand, while holding their attention. The stories are short enough that it would make a nice bedtime story book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that wants young children to learn about God and the Bible.

International Children's Story Bible
I can't think of a better way to educate children about god than throught the eyes of another child. Each page has a detailed story from the bible detailing the chapters from the bible in story form, also illustrated by children all over the world. Each story is written so well for children to remember the stories of the bible and to find them interesting and educational. This book also shows how different children view the bible in differnet parts of the world. I have enjoyed this book as much as the children in my CCD class and they can't wait for the next story to be read. I would highly recommend this story bible for children of your own or to give as a gift. I guarantee it will be treasured. God Bless

International Children's Story Bible
I am a CCD teacher and I read this book to my 1st grade class and they can't keep their eyes off the book and they remember the stories and can't wait for me to read the next one. It is written in story form so children can easily understand and remember the stories of the bible. I would highly recommend this book and I think you will enjoy it as much as the children.

What a book!
This textbook is a delight. Well written, accessible, wonderfully wideranging and thoughtful. It's even funny.

Comprehensive and engaging book about sex behavior
This book is one of the most informative books about the basic mechanisms underlying sex behavior and sex differences. Forget about Venus and Mars. This book really gets to the basics in a readible and enjoyable fashion. You don't need much biological training to learn a lot from this book (in fact, I skipped Chapter 2 which was a rather dense treatment of hormones, but is a good resource to consult) and didn't have any trouble in later chapters. Learn about how sex differences in behavior arise, and learn about the many ways that hormones have subtle effects on our behavior...

Excellent review of the interaction of hormones and behavior
Quite simply, this is the best textbook on hormones and behavior available today. The text is clearly written and enjoyable as well, a rarity in academic textbooks. A must-buy for anyone interested in the the interaction of hormones and behavior.

The Life and Times Historical Reference Bible: New King James Version
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (1997)
Author: Thomas Nelson Publishers
Amazon base price: $34.99
Average review score:

A True Historical Reference
The thing that lead me to buy this is that it is chronological instead of cannonical order. I didn't really see the benefits of this until I had to prepare a timeline ( w/ dates ) of the life of Jesus. This book had seperated the events of Jesus's life into an exact order ( not seperated amongst the gospels) explaining not only the signifigance of each event to the ministry of Jesus but also what we know of the symbols from history. The arrangement into Epoch's really helps in Old Testament Studies. And it is really interesting to see what is happening to the rest of the world while my favorites bible stories were taking place. One shortfall is that you can not bring this with you to church to follow scripture. It is almost impossible to follow and canonical scripture with the mixed around arangement of chronological.

Great Way to Read the Whole Bible
This version has enough notes to give you insight on the themes, without so much detail that you get bogged down in a word-by-word study. There's usually some notes or references every other page. Definitely the version I'd recommend if your goal is to read through the entire Bible, but you'd probably want another Study Bible for more insight into individual verses. I just wish that there were more maps!

Complete library in one book
Wow! Let me say that this bible is the best of its kind to be found on Amazon. The NKJV is presented in chronological order as to when the events described actually happened. This bible also includes articles and snipets throught the text describing daily customs, other events occuring at the same time in history, cultural antidotes, and timelines. This is the first bible that I have read, that actually pulled me in and kept my attention. If you don't have a bible or have never read the Word of God, then I recommend that you start here. If you are already a seasoned Christian, you find this a welcome addition to your library.

The Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Bible background
Anne Catherine Emmerich gives the "everyday" happenings in the lives of those she "observed". I thought this book was a lovely read, and give me renewed interest in the Bible itself. As with all her books, it is like reading the full story as opposed to the headlines. Because Anne Catherine was a nun, it is often supposed that this, and indeed all her books, are only for Catholics. However, for Jewish people, it gives a most profound knowledge of the rich Jewish culture two thousand years ago, and for Christians, it fills in the blanks that Mathew, Mark, Luke and John left - they probably didn't realise that two thousand years later, their readers would not know what a Jewish wedding was like (Mary's dress and hair do left me breathless!). After reading the Chapter of Christmas, you too will wonder how Santa Claus managed to take over this wonderful event. I have also read the four volumes of the Life and Passion of Our Lord. Easter has never been the same for me.

NOTHING in her books contradicts the bible in any way. It just brings it to life.

it ws Grace from God to even be allowed to read this book!
It was as if God let me get to read this book: whether the visions are accurte or not even the idea of such amazing events taking place is like heaven and Gods presence. This book hit me so sublimely and wondeful...I felt Grace reading her words...so privleged.

Vision of the life of Mary as mother of Christ and Church.
Miss Emmerich relates in minute and often beautiful detail her visions of the life of Mary, from her conception to her assumption. Although not necessarily historical, the visions are a benefit to meditation on the events that we do know to have taken place, and help transport the reader back to Palestine in the first century.

Like Yourself Again
Published in Paperback by Brown Books (17 June, 2002)
Author: Becky Nelson
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

HIT BOTTOM? What to do? This book has all the answers 4 YOU!
This is a very moving, brilliant book about suffering through alcoholism, depression and a bad marriage. And how the author makes her decision to help herself and her children. YOU probably haven't read a book like this one. Becky decides on an unconventional way to get the help she needs. And to come out of her suffering to share with us---is one very courageous lady. I loved the way she encourages and teaches the reader to learn how to spend our TIME! This is wisdom from someone who LEARNED from her old lifestyle. We live life---we make mistakes. The joy comes when we look back and KNOW why we had to suffer for a season. YOU can learn all this and more from Becky Nelson's experience. THE SHORT PARAGRAPHS HELPED ME IN THIS READ. NO CLUTTER TO WEED THROUGH. CAREFUL WRITER. If you need encouragement, inspiration or just a really good idea on how to spend your time---and truly "Like Yourself Again." READ THIS BOOK.

Liking One's Self Made Easier
The book is well written, concise and clear. The advice comes from one who "has been there, done that" and realized that is not where she wanted to be. This advice is direct, unambiguous and sometimes does not agree with traditional thinking. However, she explains her ideas well and I would recommend this book to anyone, particularly those who have problems with alcohol or other addictions. B. W. Morris, Ph.D.

Great Book
This is a very insightful book written obviously by someone who has been to the brink and found her way back. The recomendations are good and will start the reader back on the right track to a healthy lifestyle that will bring peace and happiness.
