I hope you enjoy this book-author's comments
This book is the end result of years of training police officers to draw correct composite faces. I had been using other drawing books and found there were errors in the materials--incorrect proportions of the nose, pupil not centered in the iris, too large an iris and so forth. I also needed a way to teach the face in an extremely short amount of time. Dr. Betty Edwards introduced seven drawing tools to help you see and draw better. I uncovered about 27 tools to help you as an artist. I hope you enjoy and learn from its pages and it will help you grow as an artist.

Excellent resource
This book is an outstanding resource for any artist who is interested in improving the accuracy of their drawings. The author's techniques apply to all subject matter, not just faces. When drawing portraits, I have always had difficulty with certain areas of the face, namely the curve of the jawbone area and the curve of the nostril. As the author explains, this is because my mind is drawing pictures from a memorized pattern of these facial features. She then gives many effective techniques that are designed to help you overcome these patterns and actually draw what you see, techniques that I had never thought to use before. Her ideas for checking the accuracy of your drawings help you to produce your most realistic work ever. I think that this book, in combination with Lee Hammonds' How to Draw Lifelike Portraits from Photograpsh, will give anyone (including those who can only draw stick figures) the ability to produce beautiful pencil portraits in a short amount of time. I should know, because I am one of those stick figure people myself! I enthusiastically recommend this book to anyone who desires to draw more realistically. The ideas contained in this book are extremely helpful and this book is well worth its price.

Many Stars ******
I like this book. I like the dragon story the best. He was green and red and had fire in his breath. I liked the adventure. It was exciting. It was not dangerous. It was fun. The dragon was Ho, Ho, Ho. (Ho? That word means good--way far away in China.)

Add Seven Sleeps to your Christmas Story Collection
Stuart Adams' charming compilation of letters from Santa Claus offers readers of all ages new insights and pleasures with each read.

Seven Sleeps Until Christmas is about giving the gift of ourselves and the ongoing discovery of oneself in the context of our relationships with others. This book reinforces important values; it emphasizes creativity and imagination, being with others and sharing, and the joy of giving.

Some of the things that make 7 Sleeps a thoughtful book, are its attention to details...Santa's handwritten salutations, the font, and a built-in display stand. These sweet details make it a favorite and easy gift to give to teachers, family members, and friends.

(***So far, each copy I have ordered from Amazon.com was signed not only by the author, but also Santa Claus himself!)

Delightful!
This a fun and heartwarming book. As one of my favorite authors, she is always good at including every character in her plot, which makes it much more fun! The relationship between all of the characters is so rich and entertaining that it makes it hard to put this book down! With the dainty sense of humor and the chivalrous back ground, I would say this book is highly recommended!

Confusion Reigns!
Valerian Romney is wrongly accused of his father's murder and flees disguised as the wife of his older brother Phelan. In disguise he falls in love with a confused Sophie whom he must resist due to his disguise. Meanwhile, Phelan falls for Juliette, who is fleeing an abusive husband disguised as a boy. With everyone's efforts to remain disguised and yet resist the person they love, the story becomes very funny. But--there is still a killer and an abusive husband to deal with, and when the book reaches its frightening climax, the scene is the equal of any thriller you have ever read. A funny, romantic, and in the end, exciting book, well worth reading and rereading. Ms. Stuart has done it again!

nature lover
great history of a unique new york town

Beautifully illustrated and well written
This book documents the rise and fall of this once flourishing spa resort village. Although much has changed since the book was written in the early 1980's, it summarizes and reflects the history of the village at the time. There is a new book published by the Sharon Historical Society called, "Reflections on Sharon", a pictorial history from 1797-1997 which details 200 years of the town & village. It also documents the more recent history through 1997 and illustrates Sharon's current push towards revitalization with the infusion of new residents and businesses.Only 1000 books were printed and they are already almost sold out. Brilliant work and so clear and helpful
Dr Boyd makes things so easy to understand in this informative, helpful book on every skin disorder imaginable. It's a worthwhile purchase and very handy.

All You Ever Need To Know About Your Skin
This book is properly titled "The Skin Sourcebook". I purchased "The Skin Sourcebook" after spending some time in Guatemala working with some doctors. I found I needed to know more about certain skin conditions and diseases. This book was exactly what I was looking for. It covers every possible skin condition, has tips on taking proper care of your skin, discusses modern medications used by doctors, and takes an in-depth look at all types of skin cancer. After reading this book I have been able to discuss with many people certain prevention's they can practice to take care of their skin and (Thanks to Dr. Boyd) I have recognized the risks I have been taking with my own body. Trying not to sound too cheesy, I must say that this book is a life savor. I suggest to anyone with skin to pick this book up and spend some time taking care of yourself.

Smart Moves: Your Guide Through the Emotional Maze of Relocation
Published in Paperback by Smith & Kraus (1996)

My moving bible
This book was recommended to me as my husband and I were embarking on a move that was VERY difficult for me. Both of us read it from cover to cover, and have gone back to it....for me to remember I'm not the only one who has had these adjustment problems, and for him to see how he can better support me and get acclimated himself. The book covers every conceivable topic about the personal and emotional transitions that accompany a move, and was easy to read and enormously helpful. Make sure you pick up a copy if you or anyone else you know is making a big move!

This book deals with the emotional aspects of relocation
As a co-author of this book I am obviously somewhat prejudiced, but thought potential readers might be interested in the book's origins. In the process of writing a chapter on the effects of relocation on children (available in the Handbook of Child Psychiatry, Vol 4 from J. Wiley)I was struck with the difficulty many children experienced following a move, and with the lack of resources available to help adults or children deal with the stresses of relocation. Some of the best research on the effects of relocation on adults had been done by Audrey McCollum, and so I contacted her and we began to work on a book that could help both individuals and families better prepare for and deal with the stresses of relocation. Nadia Jensen, with a doctorate in early childhook education, joined us to help focus on the needs of young children and on issues related to schools. As a cartoonist, and coauthor of several workbooks, I very much wanted to include cartoons to help lighten the mood and worksheets to help people carry out specific assignments in the process of preparing for their move. As a superb writer and storyteller, Audrey argued for an uninterupted text. Our compromise was to put a cartoon at the beginning of each chapter, and worksheets at the end of each chapter. If you buy this book, I would love to hear from you what you found most helpful in it and what you think we should change in the next edition. Good luck with your move. Stu Copans

A Steady Guide & Reality
I picked up this book in the college library and I found the cover rather amusing. Within the first pages of the book I was laughing hysterically (especially at the medical school letters). Truth, it is not a guide to get into medical school or to survive completely but it does light a few hidden facts along the way. It will really open one's eyes to the medical field and provide a even further sway toward it if already interested.

A humorous book for anyone interested in doctoring.
This book will make you laugh just looking at its cover (the author, dressed in surgical gear, sits on a clinic bed while toting an assault rifle and pistol - a play on "So You Wanna Be a Gangsta"), and the laughs don't stop there. The author mixes in the hard reality of his profession as an orthopedic surgeon with generous doses of humor. It's a great read for general fun, and a must read if you're thinking about a medical career.

Spirits & Liqueurs Cookbook

For tasty and exciting food
The book is divided in two roughly equal halfs, where the first focus on the spirits and liqueurs themselves, with a bit of history and methods of production as well as serving suggestions. This is a good introduction to various types of drinks and brands, but don't expect too much details.
The second half, which to my mind is the real essence of the book, presents 100 recipes of soups, starters and main dishes using alcohol such as Pastis, Cognac, Gin, Sherry, Calvados, Vermouth, Whisky, and cakes and desserts using Kirsch, Malibu, Apricot brandy, Curacao, Rum, Port, Coffe liqueur etc.
I have tried about 20 of the recipes, and I must say that almost all have resulted in very delightful food experiences(and the few ones that have not, may well be better explained by my occasional clumsiness as a cook instead of there being anything wrong with the recipe). The most striking thing is that the alcohol really contributes a lot to the taste and is not just some hardly noticeable thing in the background that only works as an impressive addition to the name of the recipe.
For these reasons, and also because I know of no other book that cover this field as broadly as this one, I warmly recommend it, especially if you happen to have a collection of spirits and liqueurs at home anyway, but only used it for other purposes so far.

informative, entertaining, comprehensive
Stiart Walton has a sense of humor and a sense of asthetics and taste. Besides an interesting history and description of spirits and liquers, there are drink recipes and photographs, complete with the suggested glassware to be used. The food recipes with spirits are doable, and have clear step by step photos. I am a cookbook collector and a sometimes cook! This volume makes me want to drink, eat and be merry - in that order!

Wonderful companion
I have been using/reading day books for years. SPIRITUAL ABUNDANCE is my favorite. Many many mornings the idea of the day was exactly what I needed to read. DAVID ALEXANDER's marvelous book was my companion for a full year. The ideas in this book have stayed with me and I know I will use this book for years to come. Thank you MR. ALEXANDER.

A spiritual anchor for a year of reflection and renewal.
I used Spiritual Abundance throughout 1998 and found it to be extremly nourishing. So many times it was uncanny how "on the mark" it was. I highly recommend this day book to anyone seeking a daily reminder of their true self in 1999.
