The Cuthbertson Verb Wheels: Spanish

Quick & Handy
I bought my first in 1967 and am very glad to see it is still available. I like it because it is faster and easier to use than a paper dictionary or electronic dictionary, both of which I also have. My 1967 version is slightly out of allignment but that is no problem.

A great grammar summary!
The Cuthbertson verb wheel is the best! It's the most condensed tool you can have for Spanish. It makes the language make sense--it shows how rational it is. It should be used in classrooms to provide a graphic explanation of verb usage in Spanish. My wheel is at least 10 years old and I treasure it. Now that my daughter is learning Spanish I'm buying verb wheels for her and her friends, and also for her Spanish class!

A Top-Notch Reference Book
I have been playing in a Medieval Society (SCA) for almost 13 years and thought I knew most of what I would read in this book but I was astounded by the wonderful depth of information. If you are a recreationist, this book is for you!!

The Best
This is an amazing book. It helped me ace my Shakespeare project. Thanks!

Another dark torment heroes!!
This is another wonderful tale from Stuart who gives you big book quality even in series romance. He is naturally dark and brooding, the O'Neil, living with his housekeeper and son on the edge of the Maine coast, hiding from deep dark secrets and torments that he could not save him family from drowning. Cursed to live alone.
She runs off the road in the middle of a hurricane to avoid hitting a ghostly little girl and it plunges her car into the deep waters of the sound. Just as she thought she was dying she is saved by O'neil.

Taking the old worst opening line to start a book and making it a title, Stuart gives you one great supernatural tale and another of her dark tormented heroes.

Awesome!
I could not put this book down. All I can say is if you loved Jane Yolens book "Greyling" as a child, you will love the shape-shifting hero O'Neal, and his ghostly family. This book is as good as it gets.

I have been searching for this book for years and years.
I was raised on the ridge where this book takes place. These people were always real to me, and the way Mr. Stuart describes them is as true to form as possible. I read the book when I was a little girl and then again when I was in my teens, and for the last few years I have not been able to find it. I am happy to have the opportunity to let my kids read this treasured book. My son has actually been in the play that was adapted from the book. This book has been a part of my family's history since it was written, and being from the same places as the characters, and knowing the people of this community I am proud to say that I am a raised in the hills of East Tennessee, Newman's ridge runner.

I read this book as a child and loved it.
This book was so great that my 4 sisters read it and we talked about it all the time. My nieces heard so much about it they have read it as well. We talked like the Huntoons and picked out their strange names to call ourselves. I've looked for it for years but I was spelling Stuart wrong so I couldn't find it on the library shelves. Now I can sign it out again and read it and relive my childhood. I also want to read more about the Melungeons.

Full of excitement and mystery with a twist of laughter.
This book was very exciting and hard to put down once you began reading. It had me starving of curiosity from the mystery and events that took place throughout each chapter. The book includes details describing the scenes and emotions of the characters which made me feel like I was part of the events that were taking place. This book is full of excitement, mystery and laughter. Good job Stu!!!!!!!!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this bike race mystery.
Daytona Dirt is a refreshing edge-of-the-seat murder mystery set in a world not very well known to most readers--the off-track dirt bike Enduro racing scene. This novel has a unique Florida setting. Every time I thought I had the mystery figured out there would be a new twist in the plot. It has engaging characters, romance, and action adventure. I simply could not put it down until I finished it.

Funny, witty, clever...it's all here.
I am a person who usually doesn't like to read books due to my slower pace of reading. This book however was made for me. It is so easy to read and you can put it down at most any place and pick it up again later without having to refresh your memory on what you had read prior to putting it down. It picks up your day in just a matter of a few minutes. There is something in this book for every type of person, no matter what your sense of humor is...or isn't. It will give you things to laugh about, things to think about, and even some things that make you say hum. This is really a fun and refreshing book. Pick one up, it's a small investment for so much pleasure.

A wonderfully funny and enriching book - a must read!
I absolutely loved this book! It truly had me laughing out loud page after page. My husband kept asking me what was so funny and I ended up reading over half the book to him as we were driving on vacation. He finally had to pull off at a rest stop because he was laughing so hard his driving became dangerous. We later bought 10 copies as gifts for friends - gave them the gift of humor. Abslutely all of our friends said it was the funniest book they had ever read.

The best Synthon Approach book
In addition to the comment above (by bklassen@xula.com) i wanna say that Since the all synthesis mechanisms in the book are tried in real time, we can trust to the plans described as retrosynthetic methods. This helps us to use the methods without any doubt.More specificly i can say that when i was reading book i sometimes surprised:'How can this selectivity occurs!'.But in fact it was so and i had to accept and try to find its reason..For the last word,it really worths its high cost..

Most engaging book on the logic of synthesis I have read.
Back in the early '80s, I struggled with synthetic problems in sophomore organic. All my teachers told the classes to try retrosynthesis, but they were not able to communicate just how, in practice, this should work. After reading just 2 or 3 chapters (and they are short--I read them over dinner one evening), I thought I would go crazy with excitement. Things suddenly made so much sense. I think I lost a lot of sleep during the next few days as I devoured the little book. Few other chemistry books--if any--ever have engaged me so. In a class of its own.

Wonderful Book so far...
I have read most of the second book and really enjoyed it.. I was rather surprised that Beth was never written into the story... This shows Rockford at his best. Going after the bad guys and making sure that they get wha's coming to them.. True to original Characters... I want MORE Rockford!

Even Better Than "The Rockford Files: The Green Bottle"
I thoroughly enjoyed Stuart Kaminsky's "The Rockford Files: The Green Bottle." This book is even better. Many of the old characters return...Jim, Dennis, Angel, and the Firebird...only Beth is missing.

The humor, intrigue, and pathos that characterized the televison series is richly abundant in this novel. Jim discovers a young girl sleeping on the deck of his trailer in Malibu who claims to be his daughter and in need of his help. With a sense of chivalry and suspicion, Jim sets out to unravel the disappearance of the girl's mother, an old Rockford love from years ago. The trail leads him to the Mafia, U.S. Marshals, and his old nemesis, Captian Diehl with the LAPD. A subplot, involving an art scam with Angel, is cleverly integrated with the more sinister main plot.

Mr. Kaminsky portrays the orignal Rockford characters in true form. He further adds new characters with depth and color. A sophisticated Mafia hit-man who recites poetry and enjoys classical music and opera is particularly interesting. The plot is complex and intricate. The ending is well-conceived and should prove touching to those who enjoy the Rockford legend. I sincerely hope Mr. Kaminsky will continue this series.

An epic adventure of extraordinary proportions
This is an excellent first hand account of the original discovery of what was to be the Oregon Trail (in reverse). Robert Stuart originally left New York on the ship the Tonquin, funded by John Jacob Astor, and sailed around the tip of South America and then eventually up to the mouth of the Columbia River in Oregon to establish a trading post. Stuart then proceeded to head back east to report to Astor about the state of affairs of the trading fort. With only a handful of men, they went by canoe, horseback and mostly by foot, from the mouth of the Columbia to St. Louis, then eventually to New York. This historical narrative is beyond words. They faced the hardships of hunger, fatigue, Indians, weather, and about everything else one can think of. It is truly a fascinating portrayal of day to day survival in the 1812 wilderness written from the hand of the man who was there. What I also enjoyed about the book was the Appendix on Wilson Price Hunt who, also working for Astor, took an expedition by land from St. Louis to Oregon at about the same time. His written account is also mind-blowing and puts the whole book into perspective. There is also an excellent forward by Rollins which gives you a background on what you are about to read.

Courage and Determination
Robert Stuart, a partner of John Jacob Astor, was sent by ship to Oregon on company business, and returned cross country by horseback, canoe and foot. Along the way he kept a journal, written in berry juice, which is reprinted here. Washington Irving also wrote "Astoria" based on this journal.

Our whole country should be grateful to Robert Stuart for his discovery of the Oregon Trail and his courage against unbelievable odds in making such a tortuous journey. This book was first printed in 1935 and the original copies are scarce and valuable. So I was thrilled to discover that Amazon not only sold it but that it was now in paperback! When the word gets around to the rest of his descendants, we will have this book on the best seller list, where it belongs. So take that, Lewis & Clark!

It made me smile and is helping me heal.
Between the quotations (lots of them made me laugh out loud!), the great divorce advice and the journaling questions, it felt like these authors were reading my mind. They really made me look at my fears and helped me feel so much stronger about starting my new life. I keep this book at my bedside where I can read it and journal in it every night. It really is helping me heal from my divorce.

The humor in this book was a surprise and a help!
Reading the Divorce Recovery Journal was like taking an incredible journey into the depths of myself. This book is filled with wonderful quotes and leading thoughts to help identify feelings and pain, wants and desires, and activities for moving out of the past. The Divorce Recovery Journal is filled with an openness and acceptance of your experiences and idea-filled guidance for how to move forward. I rate this book as one of the best and have already given it to one friend going through a divorce; she reports that it has been a helpful friend for her to turn to.
