Baudrillard's Challenge: A Feminist Reading
Published in Unknown Binding by Routledge (E) (2000)
Author: Victoria Grace
Amazon base price: $85.00
Average review score:

Extremely Comprehensive
This book not only gives a comprehensive understanding of Baudrillard's concepts of reversion and simulation, but deals with practically every criticism of Baudrillard systematically and concretely. The explanation of the implications for feminism are clear and weaved skillfully throughout the book, though anyone interested in Baudrillard for non-feminist reasons should try this book.

Concept of this book is great and true!!!
I just can't believe how true these words are! I swear if I had read this before I was married, I'm sure I never would have paid attention to the "after" side of the book. Now, I see and know the "after" side and it is soo true. I love this book and its a wonderful gift to anyone who is in beginning to fall in love or is already married - it reminds us why we fell in love in the first place - which is always helpful! Their other book, "Before and After Your New Baby" is just as hilarious. We haven't experienced the "after" side of that yet! Beyond this, the concept behind the graphics of this book are brillant.

Moms & dads: Don't eat out without this book!
I bought "Blue's Memory Scrapbook" for my 2-year-old on a whim. The reusable stickers are adorable (and plentiful). I have packed this book in the diaper bag and let my daughter play with it when we eat out at a restaurant or when we're on a plane--any time I need her to keep quiet. She'll spend 45 minutes or so just sticking and re-sticking the stickers on each page and explaining what each sticker is. It really holds her attention. It was truly a terrific purchase!

This is really a unique children's book! My kids love it!!!
Thank you so much for writing this book! My kids love the illustrations and the story. It is such an inspiring story, filled with hope for the kids, and good lessons too! Even us adults can benefit! I also really enjoyed reading about the family that wrote and illustrated the book. What a story! I'm so glad that they were inspired to complete the book, and I hope that many families and children can get a copy to spread the good word, and to fill their minds with good things!...

Penetrating Examination of Human Behavior and the Holocaust
In recent years, a number of books have probed the question, "How could the Holocaust happen in a highly-civilized country of 'ordinary,' law-abiding people?" Victoria Barnett's penetrating and provocative book goes a long way in answering the question. Barnett is a first-rate scholar and a skillful writer. She has studied in Germany and is an expert on Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Although she relies on a vast amount of research, the material is presented simply and directly. Rather than trying to inflame or lay blame on one person or institution or people, Barnett examines the historical and psychological elements of both individual and institutional behaviors and attitudes in Germany and Europe. Her approach is detailed, fair, and reasoned. In an honest and rational manner she presents all the factors that converged in Germany, beginning in the years immediately after World War I, to create Nazism and ultimately the "final solution." This is a disturbing book. Almost from the first page you will find yourself looking into a mirror asking: "Would I have been a bystander?" "Am I a bystander?" Barnett's writing style is simple, direct, clear, and engrossing. However, don't be surprised if you fing it difficult to read more than a few pages at a time. Bystanders should be required reading in every Holocaust-studies, ethics, history and psychology class in every country in the world. If we can answer the questions "how" and "why" perhaps we save the world from another Hitler or another Holocaust. This book changed my life.

An action packed story...
Captured by Victoria Lynn was my first book by Ms. Lynne and afterwards, I glommed her other works. The War Between the States is the backdrop of the story, not the focus. Devon comes to America and unfortunately, is convicted of treason. After she tries to escape, Cole is sent to escort her. They fall into one adventure after another. The story is filled with intrigue and action and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I highly recommend it.
