Makes you stop and think..
Great book. Lynn has a very profoundly humerous way of showing us God's goodness and how we should honor that gift with the first and best we have to offer. The short, many times humerous stories give us examples and leasons to live by. He also helps us to reflect on our ideas and sadly, often our greed when it comes to our wealth or hording. But, it also celebrate God's infinte blessing to his people. Good also as a study guide for Christian stewardship. Lynns background as a missionary to many foreign and third world countries gives him, I believe, a unique perspective on "American" stewardship principles(or lack off).

We're not raising money; we're raising Christians
The biblical term "stewardship" has been used so often to mean "fund-raising" that in my church we've had to stop using it in order to focus attention back onto its message that "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it," while "He has given us dominion over all the works of his hands." So it was with absolute glee that I discovered this unique book on true Christian stewardship. Eugene Grimm asserts, "Fund-raising is a financial matter. Stewardship is primarily a spiritual matter. Fund-raising is concerned with raising money for the budget. Stewardship relates to how we live out our commitment to Jesus Christ.... Stewardship is more than financial giving.... Stewardship is what we do after we say we believe." This book gives detailed, practical counsel on how to go about supporting the Lord's work in a local congregation, and it refreshingly insists that "When we look at principles for vital stewardship, we are looking at principles that can help people grow spiritually." Randy Alcorn writes more profoundly on the biblical principles underlying stewardship, and Larry Burkett provides more detailed advice for submitting our personal finances to the lordship of Christ. But after spending twelve years reviewing all kinds of literature on the topic of stewardship education, I know of no book that I can recommend more highly for pastors and church leaders who want to conduct an ongoing "stewardship campaign" that is intended not to raise money but to raise Christians.

Renewing!
I went through this book after purchasing it a year ago. At the end of each day, I would read & reflect upon the corresponding scripture, story and inspiration for that particular day. I found this to be a relaxing, prayerful way to wind down for an evening of peaceful slumber. On January 1st, I began the book again. Now, my husband joins me. We alternate evenings, reading the day's passage to each other. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to re-focus and simplify...it will help you recognize and appreciate God's abundance in your own life!

Hope for the hopeless
I received this book as a Christmas present. I read it, not because I have time to read, but because I am searching for hope for my daughter's condition. She has autism. She cannot communicate. I read it because I wanted to know how this author thought God had blessed her. I still have no answer to this question as the problems in this book's stories are trivial compared to the inability to communicate--even nonverbally. However, the last story reassured me that God can do miracles. If you can make it to the end, I recommend this book to anyone whose only hope is a miracle.

Christian Mom
I got this book for my 6 year old daughter to commemorate her 1 year anniversary of her Spritual Birthday! I thought that it would be a way for us to spend more time together talking about who Jesus is and how He wants her to live. She loves our special time together and is growing deeper in her faith each day...what a blessing this book has been!

Wonderful tool for moms to use with their daughters! Great!
Growing Little Women is a great tool for Christian moms to use with their daughters. The best age to use this book is for girls from nine to twelve. The author gives practical insight as to how she mentored her two daughters. There are sixteen practical chapters, each taking a subject that allows mom and daughter to openly discuss. There are also fun activities at the end of each chapter. Chapter 16 allows moms to write their own story for their daughter. This is a great tool to allow moms to impart their lives and beliefs.

For Christians with Polytheistic Souls !!
It is a pity that this quartet of David Miller's books: The New Polytheism, Christs, Three Faces of God and Hells and Holy Ghosts are out of print. They are simply brilliant examples of Archetypal Psychology's eye (that is, a polytheistic, mythopoeic, psyche-logical eye) turned on the beliefs of a montheistic faith. Not possible you think ? It is absolutely necessary I think, necessary to turn the two Doctors of the Soul (Jung and Hillman's) eyes on a faith whose soul has been long missing. For those Christians who have experienced the polytheism of their own soul and are seeking to integrate this experience into their faith these books are tailor made. I don't know of any other books that have attempted to do what David Miller has done. His accessible style in explaining complex notions is at least equal to that of Thomas Moore (of Care of the Soul fame).

For anyone seeking to deal with unexpected tragedy
Hope Grows In Winter: Inspiring Real-life Stories Of How Hope Changes Lives deals with the issues of suffering and grief that are the inevitable experience of all men and women. Each of the contributors has endured a personal tragedy: a pastor diagnosed with full-blown AIDS, a young mother discovering she has breast cancer; an upstanding Christian father learning that his unmarried adolescent daughter is pregnant, another father who suddenly lost his beloved four year old son. Yet in spite of the their pain and hopeless feelings, each of these men and women reached the same conclusion -- hope does indeed grow in winter. This wonderful compendium of inspiration from a Christian perspective is highly recommended reading for anyone seeking to deal with unexpected tragedy in their lives or the lives of their loved ones.
