Read his own words. Malcolm X was a revolutionary.
Malcolm selected, and speeches he wanted in the book. This is the Spanish edition of the the book that begins the series of books by Malcolm X published by Pathfinder Press in collaboration with his family as more speeches, interviews, and talks by Malcolm X have been discovered. The aim here is to put Malcolm X's words first. Read them for yourself. Find out why Malcolmwas a reasoned, passionate, but uncompromising opponent of US imperialism's wars against oppressed peoples, in Africa, in Vietnam, in the Mid-East. Malcolm can really inspire you about the fights we need.
Malcolm X linked the struggle within the United States with the struggles of other oppressed peoples in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Just read his denunciations of U.S. intervention in the Congo, in Vietnam and the Middle East in those days -- and think today of Colombia, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Iran, the Philippines...
I particularly enjoyed the following speeches from this book: "I'm not an American but a victim of Americanism," (University of Ghana, May 1964); "Our problems and those of Africa are the same," (Harlem, November 1964); "Learn to see, to listen and to think for yourself," (Harlem, January 1965); "We seek a solution that will benefit the masses, not the upper class'" (Detroit, February 1965); and the article "The meeting between Malcolm X and Fidel Castro," (Hotel Teresa, Harlem, September 1960).

The book is filled with poignant personal stories that help illustrate the scientific findings. The stories are of depression, alcoholism, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other medical conditions. One such story is of Morty, a man who had been walking around with an blood alcohol level of 3.5. Morty was delivered to a detoxication unit where he stopped drinking on the first day of arrival and had an almost painless physical withdrawal from alcohol because he believed in the grace of God. Each story is as heartwarming and as inspiring as the one before. I loved how these stories were so smoothly used in adjunct with the scientific findings. It is definitely an effective blend of real life to which we all can relate and science from which we all can learn.
Another great thing about this book is that at the very end it offers suggestions to how one can benefit from the Power of faith. It is separated into three different parts: 1) if you are already religious, 2) if you are not religious, and 3) if you simply are not yet ready to consider religion. This is very nice because it offers suggestions for everyone not only those who are religious and are already benefiting.
A definite plus to this book is that is it easy reading. Although it deals with real scientific research the entire book is very readable. One does not get bored with scientific jargon. In fact the book is very engaging and I finished it in one night. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who is interested in this subject. We all can learn from it, religious people and atheists alike.

Carol and Malcom have identified the key areas of potential marital conflict and articulated a series of questions which will help any couple considering marriage uncover their differences and establish a positive atmosphere in which the couple can succeed.
One of the glossed over phrases in the traditional marriage ceremony is "marriage is not to be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully." The frequency with which couples break their marriage vows shows clearly that the joy and delight of falling in love and planning a wedding pushed aside the need of discovering each other just as seriously.
In today's self help and how to society, this delightful book will guide the couple through the discovery process.
For those of us already married, it is also a way to keep discovering each other through the various stages of marriage and individual growth. My wife and I plan to go through the questions together on a regular basis.
I also appreciated the caution of the authours in that just taking a quiz does not guarantee marital success. The last line of the conclusion sums it up best: "May the work you put into your marriage lead to a lifetime of love." Just taking a quiz does not guarantee marital success. It will, however, help you discover the "make or break issues" which must be resolved prior to marriage.
Thank you, Carol and Malcom, for giving us a tool to help preserve one of the most valuable entities of any society, strong and healthy marriages.

Breitman, a long-time revolutionist, was one of the first people who called attention to the revolutionary significance of Malcolm and the Muslims. He is the editor Malcolm chose to put together Malcolm X Speaks. Breitman's concern is with the view that Malcolm did not do anything signficant, particularly in the African American struggle, between his expulsion from the Muslims and his murder. Instead, he shows how the amount of work Malcolm did to energize and organize struggle both inside the US and abroad, is how to believe and documents what Malcolm did.
He also comments on how Malcolm realised he needed to sharpen his critique of the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammed, something that is shown in February 1965: The Final Speeches, a collection of Malcolm's speeches and interviews from the last month of his life.
