It's unpredictable. In the begining you think to your self "He has her"... Then you are proved other wise. If you like Christopher Pike then you will love this book.This truley is the best of all Vampire books written. You will grow attached to Sita and all of the characters before the end of the first book. You will want to read it over and over.Before you finish the first chapter you wont want to put it down. It will make you wonder if they really are out there...

pike's Last Vampire series is the best. i read the first one six years ago at the age of 12. now i am 18 and still in love with sita!! she is the most amazing character ever written. she truly loves the human race...which i respect b/c she is not one of us! (i do know she is not real;) these books taught me a lot about life, love, and acceptence...about being diff, and that even the strongest need time to love themselves...i recommend these books!!!

A story told by an ancient vampire, Alisa, (who also happens to be a beautiful blonde bombshell) this book is absolutely riveting. I know I could not put the book down, I had to finish it in one setting and have now read the rest in the series. Never has there been such a unique or oddly realistic seeming story of horror. Alisa is one of the best characters I've ever read, certainly the best that Pike has ever created. It was so fun to read about how an ancient vampire interacts in a modern day highschool, and you begin to feel almost as invincible as Alisa seemingly is. But this is no Buffy the Vampire Slayer type of thing here, this story interwines very spiritual aspects of life and goes very deep into who Alisa really is. A very satisfying book, I'd highly recommend reading it.

I wish I could give Remember Me an 11, because it deserves it. This was the first book by Christopher Pike that I ever read and it has hooked me for life. In Remember Me, Shari Cooper is murdered at a party and tries to track down her killer as a ghost. This simple premise leads to all kinds of fun, grief, revenge and compassion. Remember Me is a gripping book that will keep you reading 24 hours a day, yet it is also a book that makes you think and plays on your emotions. Whether you're a first-time reader of Pike or a veteran, I guarantee you will love this book. The sequels--Remember Me 2: The Return and Remember Me 3: The Last Story--won't disappoint you either. (P.S. You might want to set aside a little extra money to buy a second copy of Remember Me because you'll probably wear out the first.

I just read "Remember Me" a few months ago on a 13-hour car drive. It was so good, I couldn't even put it down. On my trip, I also bought "Remember Me 2: The Return" and "Remember Me 3: The Last Story" It starts with a charming, intellegent teenager named Shari. She tells her story of when she was alive-She had fallen off a balcony at a party. She tells the tale of getting her story out, the one she hadn't even known yet. She had to let everyone know that she hadn't killed herself. And while visiting her grave, she meets up with an old friend. Together, they battle against "The Shaddow" an unknown monster, supposedly out to get them. "Remember Me" is a wonderful book. It's a story of, love, hate, and fear. It is my favorite book of all time and I highly recommend it. Christoper Pike is a wonderful, wonderful author and has inspired me to write some books myself. So, need I say more? Remember Me was the first Pike book I ever read. I almost didn't read it because it was written in my least favorite way--the first person. Then turn to page two as I did and find out the narrator, Shari Cooper, is a ghost and be hooked. I read it all in one night, something I never did before. At first, I saw this book as a typical mystery with a twist. I later realized that the story was really showing how love and life are much more powerful than what hate and death in this world. Remember Me 2: The Return was good, but I think it was basically just a set up for 3: The Last Story, which just blew me away--the best in the series.

I first read this book, when I was 16 years old and could not put it down. To this day (7 years later) it is still the scarist book I ever read. But I am currently reading it for the seventh time. Everytime I read it I notice something I missed the first time around. Buy this book in hard back because you'll definitely want to read it more than once.
Season of Passage is primarily the story the US exploration to Mars that go to do research and find out what happened to the Russian crew that went before them. But the terror starts long before any of them ever leave the ground. With vivid nightmares and an unexplainable pull and dread of the 'dead' planet. There is also the underlying story that is being written by the younger sister of the main character. At the end the two stoies combine to an ending that will leave you wanting more and eager to read it again and again...
There is so much about this book I could tell you but I won't for fear of giving the story away. But Mr. Pike did an extrodinary job of developing characters that seemed real enugh to touch, and invoke an emotional response from the reader. It's the little details that make this book great, and most readers won't recognize the significance till the last page. (Think Sixth Sense) This book is a must read.

I've read almost all of Christopher Pikes adult and young adult books, this was my favorite. The story starts right away, and after you've begun you won't be able to put it down until your finished. It's a back-prickler, sure to have you checking under your bed at night. The story-within-a-story setup goes perfectly with this book, it keeps you guessing until the end what will happen to Chaneen and her kingdom, and Lauren on Mars. The story take place in the future when and a group of scientists and astronauts decide to travel to Mars to see if there really is other life forms, and what became of the last group that took this voyage. What they find will shock you. You'll want to read it over and over again. Along with the Mars plot, another story relating to this book is written by one of the characters, Lauren's little sister. How they all tie together will amaze you. If this book doesn't frighten you, you probably didn't read it. Mr. Pike has really outdone himself with this novel, I still can't believe it didn't win more awards. It may seem far-fetched at first but once you really get into it, it becomes kind of real. All of these reasons are why I gave it a definete 5 star rating.

This is an incredible story by the best author of all, Christopher Pike. I can't decide which of his books is my favorite; I'm stuck between the Remember Me Series, The Last Vampire Series, Whisper Of Death, The Cold One, and The Season of Passage. When it comes to which book is the best, however, there is no doubt in my mind. The Season of Passage gets the gold. It is an intriguing, touching, heart-wrenching story that envelops you and does not let go. Indeed, I was wishing it could be longer when I reached it's beautiful but bittersweet ending. Quite simply, this is Pike's most well-written book. It goes above and beyond all expectations and never ceases to amaze. The storyline is refined to perfection; there is not a single thing missing. The characterization is superb; each character will stay with me until the end of time. From the childlike playfulness and innocence of gary, to the strength and grit of Lauren, Season of Passage will steal your heart and give you the ride of your life.

I must agree with the review posted by the reader from Iowa City, this is definently a book for all ages. It touches many senses, mostly love. Although it may sound depressing or morbid to read about teens in a hospice waiting to die, you find as you read, it is neither. You find yourself loving each character more and more with every turn of the page, and knowing they will live eternally in your mind and heart after the book is over. Their strength and bravery is touching and commendable, and after reading this novel, you will see what is really important in life is love and making the most of each day. The dramatic portrayal of each character is amazing. The stories told by the midnight club are also very memorable, with that notable Pike twist, and horror. Over all, this book is wonderful, and touching, it will leave you with a sense of warmth, and love, and a life lesson.

This book starts out with 5 characters(Anya, Illonka, Spence, Trevor, and ______?). They live in a hospice, because they all have fatal diseases. They had formed this club callled The Midnight Club, and all five of them are members. Every night, their meetings are started approximately at 12:00, and they all tell stories to one another until dawn. One night, they all made a pact that if one of them did pass on to the next life, that they would somehow give the others a signal. Anyway, after one of them finds out that their disease is no longer fatal, she leaves, and then shortly after that, one of them dies. To find out what happens to who, you should read this book, because it is very interesting once you get into it. I think Christopher Pike did an awesome job on this book, and I give it a 10 out of 10.

As a teen, I read countless books by Christopher Pike. Most of them have since been packed away in boxes or given to younger friends and relatives to enjoy. The Midnight Club, however, remains on my bookshelf (its cover is nearly torn off from so much use). Pike expands his horizons in this book, departing from his usual themes of horror and death. Though the book is all about kids who are dying, the prevalant theme is life. Pike gives us a great truth in a story told with deceptive simplicity: it is not the number of years we live that makes our lives meaningful, but instead the way we spend those years and the other lives we touch. Don't be dissuaded from picking up this book because of the YA classification--a must-read for all ages.

Christopher Pike is the man! Pike's novels shouldn't be classified just as young adult reading because I think that puts a stereotype on his wonderful books. Everyone of every age will enjoy this great story.

The Last Vampire is a story about a 5000 year-old vampire named Sita who takes us through her life, past and present, allowing us to explore the magic of her immortality. It's not a book written to only capture "young adults", it's written intelligently for mature, educated readers. Pike doesn't tell us about Sita, he puts us right with her throughout the story with vivid descriptions, and great use of imagination. Sita tells us her story as she hunts her prey, and we unknowingly become possesed by her.

For 5000 years Sita has traveled all over the world as a predator. She kills and has killed thousands through the years and yet, through Pike's incredible writing, we feel compassionate for her. She becomes our heroine and we want to be immortal like her.

Even before the first page is "told" she already knows that she is not the last vampire, even though she's been sure she has been for the last 4000 years. Some one is hunting her and she has an idea of who it might be: Yaksha, her creator, who has much more strength and power than she does.

She learns than, in order to defeat him and survive, she must remember her past, to what Krishna had told her long ago. Pike's digressions into the Sita's past with Krishna are my favorite parts of the book because of the beauty with which they is told. We learn about Lord Krishna and his wisdom and his influence over Sita's life. Also, the research Mr. Pike does into his books is incredible, his facts are always very accurate and nothing is lacking in his history here.

This book is a very fast read, it is so gripping that it's impossible to put down. Fortunately, The Last Vampire Continues into 5 other books that, put together, make a fantastic saga. My advice, buy all of them at once so when you finish one you can immediately pick up the next one without a wait, then read them all over again.

The Last Vampire is about a five thousand year old vampire named Sita who is supposedly the last vampire on earth. Thousands of years ago when vampires roamed the earth as humans did, an evil vampire named Yaksha was born. As years went by, Yaksha killed every vampire one by one except Sita. Not until present day did Yaksha find her. In present day a private detective, Mike Riley, is hired to find out who Sita really is, or what she is. Sita kills him, and discovers he has a son named Ray. Sita becomes enrolled at Ray's
highschool and thinks she can find out how Ray's father found out about her by using Ray to get to his father's private files. Sita then finds out that it was actually Yaksha who hired Detective Riley. She also ends up falling in love with Ray. You'll have to read to the book to find out if Sita can escape death from Yaksha. I chose to read this book because one of my friends told me it was really good. The book interested me because vampire stories usually seem pretty interesting. I really enjoyed the book. I thought it had some great suspense like in the final fight scene between
Sita and Yaksha. It was also hard to put down because of all the action such as when Sita kills people and drinks their blood. I also enjoyed it because it was very gruesome in some parts. It was a pretty easy book to read because it really kept my attention. This book relates to my life in that I like to write stories that are very violent. Even though I thought The Last Vampire was a really good book, I do not recommend it to most people. This is because if some people read it then they would
probably be offended by the gruesome scenes and then yell at me for recommending it for them. However, if you have a high tolerance level for violence, then I think you would really enjoy this book.

I have read the entire Last Vampire series several times and every time is better than the last. I have recommended these books to many people and I have yet to hear anyone who was not completely entranced by this beautiful tale of the life of Sita/Alisa Perne. These books will cater to every expectation you could have of a book. It has romance, mystery, drama, fantasy, reality, and horror. You may be skeptical at first about the title "The Last Vampire" but once you pick up this book and start to read, I guarentee that you will not be able to put it down. Once it is finished, you'll be running to the book store, or to your computer for that matter to purchase the entire series. Christopher Pike is a genius when it comes to writing books and "The Last Vampire" is proof of that

Ok, where do I start?? The Watcher's Guide for BtVS is the most informative book on any show, let alone Buffy. With all the quotes you'll ever need and the little things that you might have missed - though if you're like me, you watch the eps over and over anyway!!

There are the helpful explanations on the quotes that involve movies or TV, and help you to see what everyone was laughing about - especially good for Aussies who sometimes dont have a clue about the American terms and stuff (like me!)

There are full colour pics, as well as black and white pictures. And if you missed a few eps, there is a full episode guide of seasons 1 and 2. From the eps you did miss, you might also have missed some vital info about a character - well, never fear! Detailed character info and backgrounds are also found in this book!!

I know this is an over-used phrase but it is sooo true in this case - If you buy ONE book this year and you're a Buffy fan, this is the book you should buy!! Save up if you have to, but do whatever you can to get a hold of it before The Watcher's Guide pt 2 (for seasons 3 and 4) comes out in November 2000!! Whether you're an Australian, an American, English, from New Zealand, or ZIMBABWE! It doesn't matter! Get your hands on this book!!

This is quite possibly the best of the books on the mythology of Buffy. Besides the usual cast photos (which are of a good glossy quality) it also boasts of an extensive episode guide to the show's first two seasons including exclusive interviews the entire cast and Joss Whedon. There's the Sunnydale Guidebook which is said to be an excerpt from the Sunnydale Official Board of Tourism and Commerce Brochure depicting all of the hot spots (both of them). I really enjoyed the Monster Guide which is almost 40 pages in length, has explanations on why the vampires on this show don't fly, and many other neat facts and photos. This monster guide may only be rivaled by the monster guide on the official Buffy site and in some respects is more thorough. It's a real bonus. I also enjoyed "Bloodlust" which is an entire chapter dedicated to all the relationships on the show in general, and the intoxicating and fascinating relationship between Angel and Buffy in particular.There's also the Slayer Handbook according to Buffy Summers, the Character Guide, behind the scenes with the regulars and also guest stars like John Ritter, a playlist featuring all the songs played on the show over its first two seasons, and dialogue cut from the original scripts. This is a first rate book and I highly endorse it.

Let me say this right now--whoever reads this book will be amazed by it. Not by the young age the author was when he wrote it, but by the fact that it is as good as (or better than) any other modern fantasy book on the market today. The world that Christopher Paolini has created is so absorbing that you won't be able to put this book down. His characters are complicated and very human. The story begins when a young man named Eragon, who is out hunting in a section of his country known as The Spine, discovers a dragon's egg. I really don't want to spoil the story for anyone who hasn't read the book, so I'm not going to say anything more about it. Paolini's beautiful use of the English language is complimented perfectly by his tremendous creative ability. Other than the use of some common fantasy creatures (elves, dwarves, dragons, etc.), this story is completely original. I never found myself complaining about the fact that I had read something like this a thousand times before because, well, I hadn't. Every chapter of this book is intelligently written, without even the slightest hint of monotony. I strongly recommend this book to everyone. Go buy it now. You won't regret it.

Eragon is the best new book I've read for many a long fantasy deprived month (not year I read rather a lot) it is the perfect swashbuckling fantasy novel for any one from a crazed with waiting harry potter fan (its better) to just a person on the look out for the next great story. Eragon is a book for some what mature audiences as there is a bit of violence and a little romance, not to deep mind you but just enough suggested reading age is (maturely) 14and older although you so called adults might scoff at reading a so called "young adult" book I think you should give it a try.
Set in the land of (I'm probably going to murder this) Aglastia under the rule of a tyrant king after the fall of the now legendary dragon riders the story starts in a dark wood the shade's ambush fails and the elf maiden sends the "strange blue rock" to... the next chapter !wherein we meet our hero for the rest of the book Eragon (oh not the same as the title I wonder if he is destined for great things?!) who misses the deer but picks up the "strange blue rock" sent from the previous chapter this turns out to be an egg that hatches into a baby dragon. But you knew that if you read the back of the book.( Now don't lie even I Kate The Great reads the back of the book)the baby dragon named sapharia by eragorn can talk to eragorn threw his mind eragorn goes to talk dragon lore with the local story teller Brom, whom I get the feeling knows more than he says, and the story takes off from there.
If you expect to tell you more of the plot you will be disappointed as I want you to buy this book at your local independent bookstore as opposed to this website. I will assure you that in all my years of reading I have never found any thing better. This book tops my personal favorite fantasy booklist and if you enjoyed it I think you would also like sabriel, lerial, and abhorsen, (again sorry for the misspell) by Garth Nix the his dark materiasl trilogy; The golden compass, The subtle knife, and The amber spy glass by Phillip Pullman the harry potter books are also acceptable if not as good however I do tend to view the books threw a rather jaundiced eye as I have been wait in to long for miss Rowling to get her rear in gear and finish the books before the movies! Oh dear me sorry for the rant but I get a little worked up about this. Another of my favorite authors is Diana Wynne Jones and her book dark lord of derkholm is a riot! (It is a parody of LOTR)
So again it is more than likely that you will like this book so get moving!

Rating Christopher Paolini's book Eragon on a scale of 1 to 5 isn't enough: I'd rate it 100! If nobody told me who wrote it, I'd guess it was Tolkien who wrote it. It's the best book I've ever read--better than Tokien.
Paolini has very imaginative names in the book and there is plenty of action. The action is more graphic than Tolkien's but not too graphic. Here is an example: "Shaking off the pain, he cleaved open an Urgal's skull, mixing brains with metal and bone."
The book Eragon takes place in a time before guns and in a time where some characters have magical powers. Eragon, the teenage main character, is seeking revenge over an injustice and sets out on a journey with a dragon and an old storyteller.
This is the first book in a trilogy written by an eighteen year old homeschool boy. He inspires me to keep working on stories I've started myself.
If you liked Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy or Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, you'll like Eragon.

Five stars is not enough to rate this book. I give this book an absolute 10. I have never read a book so inspiring, so wonderful, so full of everything that your looking for in a book. It's a page turner from beginning to end. I love the way the author quoted scriptures, that in fact helped to encourage and up lift me. Very inspirational. I just can't rave anymore about this book. This is by far one of the best books I have ever read in my life. I love the way Victor Christopher Murray made you feel Kyla and Jefferson's pain, their sorrow, their joys, their happiness. I mean she really made you feel what each character was going through. She just could not have done a better job. Oh and Brian and Alexis, Couldn't have happened to a better couple. I thank God for blessing Ms. Murray with such enormous talent. Truly his hand was in this. Victoria Christopher Murray, continue looking to the hills from whence cometh your help and know that he will do the rest. I will definetly be looking forward to reading more of her work. I would recommend this book to all. You won't be dissapointed.

It is so refreshing to read a fictional christian book. I applaud Victoria for stepping out of the typical stories we so often read about, and to write something of substance. I am so tired of reading the same tired stories by uncreative authors. This book dealt with real life issues facing many christians today.

The life of Kyla and Jefferson seemed perfect to many, including her so-called best friend Jasmine. Kyla and Jefferson appeared to have everything, mainly Jesus Christ. Because of their strong religious faith and their daily walk with God, Kyla felt her marriage was above TEMPTATION. However, love did not conquer Temptation in her marriage. This books takes you through the process of forgiveness and one's faith in God. Will Kyla be able to forgive the sin of Temptation? Does she really have enough love and trust in God to forgive completely?

This book does not have alot of twist and turns or surprises; however, the story takes you through a process that will keep your glued to the pages. One you pick up the book, you will not put it down. Kyla learns that her marriage must be tried by Temptation in order for her begin her purpose and ministry in which God had prepared for her. She learned, that in order to truly be a testimony of God, you must be tried by a storm, and Kyla's was a storm of TEMPTAION.

This book is truly a must read! It is so difficult to believe that this is the first book written by Victoria Christopher Murray. I totally agree with previous reviewers. The book held my interest from the beginning to the very end. This is exactly the kind of reading material for which I've been looking. Victoria does an excellent job of showing that Christians are also faced with real trials and tribulations, however, the beauty of this book is laid out through the actions taken by characters who have decided to do things God's way no matter the consequence(s). I was so blessed by Jefferson's determination to tell the truth and trust God to work a bad decision for good, in the face of loosing everything, including his wife, his daughter and his reputation. Then there's Alexis, who as a single sucessful young woman, has made a commitment to God and honors it more than the newly found relationship with the man of her dreams. This book definitely encourages one to stand firm on God's word and just watch Him grant the disires of the heart in His own perfect timing.

I was so caught up in the lives of the characters of the book, I dared to put it down. I must have read this book in record time. Bravo, Victoria! I'm looking forward to you next work!

My second book I've read from my favorite hit t.v show and again, I am impressed! The writing is great and the characters are so lifelike and true to form. What I like about the books are the fact that we finally get to delve into the collective minds of the complicated characters that are Sunnydale's 'Scooby Gang'. A vampire slayer, a watcher, a witch, a werewolf, a vampire, a wisecracker human and a rich girl who keeps getting mixed up with the gang, even if she pretends she can't stand them. Like the show, the book was beyond entertaining and well worth the money.
This novel, 324 pages, could easily have been a great episode. It was a very different departure from what we've seen in the show. A weird group of traveling renaissance faire people that arrives in Sunnydale, CA, (a.k.a, the Hellmouth) who are not only weird, but have something to do with a sinister group of horsebacked, hellhound dark faerie roaming the woods around Sunnydale looking for souls.
The Scooby Gang think a faire would be uncool, but find themselves drawn to the faire anyway and experience a feeling of dread and doom. Jousting contests, human chest matches, knights and ladies and a court jester that all seem a little too...real.
Caught up in a whirl of confusion, the gang experience the dark faerie for themselves and find out the faire is the least of their problems. The Erl King has brought the Wild Hunt to the Hellmouth and the gang must stop them before all the lost souls in town become part of the Hunt forever. Not only does the Slayer have to worry about the king, but the jester in the faire is not what he seems...he is destined to become the Slayer's mortal adversary....

I did a report on this book. I'm in seventh grade but I love to read Buffy books. This book was written greatly and it is my favorite book now. I was very impressed with the writing and I was so anxious to read what happened that I couldn't even put it down. I recommend this book to everybody I even lent it to my mom. My teacher was so impressed with my report that she actually asked me where she could get a copy. I have read this book four times. I loved the fairs and Roland was really cool. All you people who have read the book you probably know what I'm talking about with the King Erl. Thanx for reading my review.

I've read all the Buffy books, and from knowledge, know that Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder are the best Buffy writers. This book (i am only half way through it) is riveting!! So far I luv it!! The only thing I don't like is the Buffy-Angel thing. They can't be together, yada yada, I won't spoil it for you.

It's my favorite book in the series besides Blooded. I can't wait for the next Buffy book...something Chaos...

Anyway, you've GOT to read it--it's exciting and hard to stop reading

I picked this book up one day with no clue as to what it was. After having read it I've concluded that it's the best story that I've read concerning animals (excluding animal farm). It also helped me understand life as a veternarian (at least some fifty years ago!) I've also come to the conclusion that Herriot has created a brilliant novel in his first try that have taken so many others years to complete. Synopsis: A heart-warming true tale of a veternarian named Dr. James Herriot in the late 30s in Yorkshire, England.

This is the first of a series of sort-of-autobiographical books written by "James Herriot," a real-life country veterinarian in Yorkshire, England. The first book covers his arrival in "Darrowby" in 1937, when new research and new technology were just beginning to change both farming and veterinary medicine. We meet James' boss, Siegfried Farnon, and Siegfried's fun but irresponsible brother Tristan, as well as a wide variety of local farmers and pet owners. As good as the BBC series is, the books are so much more. I think readers of any age (these books are perfectly suitable for older grade school age children) who like animals will enjoy the stories here, as will anyone with an interest in English country life, or stories of days gone by.

I recieved this book as a gift then it was first published in the 1970's. I have read it at least five times. Each time I read it I am delighted all over again.

This is an animal lover's delight - but it's much more than that. Follow the young James Herriott as he starts his adventure as a country veterninarian. You feel his pain and joy as he experiences failures and successes. His courtship with his wife-to-be Helen is poignant. Herriott tells it like it is: there's no fancy stuff. Don't let that make you think this is dull. Herriott's descriptions of the landscape and characters make you feel like you're there: the sights and smells he describes tantalize your senses. You can smell the fresh country air, the hearty farm meals, and so much more.

This is a book that will delight young and old alike. Read a chapter and it's a mini-book in itself, or curl up for the long haul. I found it very hard to put down.

You'll be enchanted by Herriott's adventures (and misadventures) and find yourself laughing and crying. Even after 5 reads, I'm ready for another. This stuff never gets old.
