Another 12-step "Bible" for me
The Paradigm Conspiracy is a "Bible"-type systemic 12-step philosophical analytical meditation which I hate to go anywhere without, and can open to any page to receive daily inspiration and hope. This is a thorough open disclosure of the violence of systemic abuse, and without leaving us in the despair of broken dreams, throws light into the tunnel of darkness by outlining the steps that WE, as groups, community-poli-social systems can take to heal[without controlling the outcome],dialoguing new paradigms and meta-paradigms for healthy societies. Assumptions, strategies, responses, and goals, all brilliantly graphed as well as spiralled in the tradition of our ancestral North American and Middle Eastern spiritual masters, esp. Rumi. Appreciating your wonderful truth, Denise and Christopher!

An inspiring, grounded perspective of profound truths
The authors have taken dynamic ideas from the minds ofbrilliant scholars, i.e. Thomas Kuhn, and brought them home straightto our hearts and minds. This book engages every part of the reader--making one deeply examine where s/he stands in relation to living one's truth.

As I read it I recognized the complex maze of ideas first introduced in grad school readings which presented how unknowingly we collude with a system of dominance and oppression. Yet in this text of hope, the authors lead us through the puzzle of problems to the endless possibilities and solutions. Solutions which start right here, right now, on an individual basis. The awarenesses this book brings forth can shake the soul at first, but staying with how the authors unfold this mystery ultimately lets us shake off the chains we didn't even know we were bound by.

Definitely worth reading, especially in conjunction with their next book: Love, Soul and Freedom. These outstanding books bring together what a soul thirsts for in a way that quenches far beyond expectation.

Would you rather be comfortable or awake?
Reading this courageous book will change how you see just about everything in our society -- and in yourself. The authors are perceptive and highly educated, passionate and commited. You couldn't ask for better teachers to address this most difficult subject.

Excellent quick reference book
The psychiatry 2002, is an excellent quick review of psych. In the clinics it will give you easy to read summaries of all topics in psych and treatments. An ideal book for any med student or resident.

Psych Clerkship
Great reference for the psych clerkship. Written by same 3 authors at UCI who write the psycho-pharmacology book for CCS.

Good quick reference
A good light handbook for quick reference on the run. Point-form and well laid out. Ideal for helping with differential diagnosis. I like the practicality & succintness of the information in it, as I can go to bigger texts if I want details. Bonus is that, if you own the handbook, you can download free a PC version, as well as a Palm, or EPOC (Psion Revo/Mako) versions. Mine is on a Revo and goes around with me when I'm on call.

Every herbalist should have this book on their bookshelves!!
All of my teachers and mentors, from Rosemary Gladstar to Michael Tierra have all touted Dr. Christopher and this book! We even have it at the natural products cooperative where I work in our library. It really brings home herbal medicine and formulation. If you have ever used the Dr. John R. Christopher formulas that are available in health food stores, you know how good they are. All of the formulas are contained within this book and many more that are certain to find use in every home interested in empowering themselves through herbal healing.

Agreed, agreed, agreed!!
Yes, this book is such a gift! Full of actual stories which help in learning/remembering which herbs and formulas work in which circumstances. I can't say enough about it's thoroughness and approach to learning. It includes lists of which groups of herbs go well with other groups and what each group does. It also gives many different ways to use each herb.
Thanks so much Dr. Christopher!

This will be the only book about herbs that you need
No stone left unturned in this book! This man has a thorough and accurate understanding of herbs and their uses. He was a Master Herbalist and I have many books on this subject...this one, however, is the 20th anniversary, expanded version issue and is the Bible of them all. I promise you, even if you're traveling, you will want to keep it with you. His personal life story is a miracle to me, he was an abandoned child found by some loving people in an orphanage when he was a young boy. And what a contribution to humanity this man has made! It's the best book that exist about the use of herbs. Also, helps you to identify plants and tells you what parts to use. I love his work, it's written for all the right reasons, he had been critically ill in his youth and his work sprung from those hardships. It is inspired!

aptly called, "the song of God."
perhaps the greatest piece of truly inspired spiritual literature ever written. considered by many to be the epitome of the vast collection of writings that is Vedanta. its the story of lord krishna's holy teachings and advice to a warrior whose heart is in great distress on the eve of battle. and aren't we all warriors on the eve of the battle of daily life? lord krishna lays out the various ways a person can seek and find and know God. i love the book very much indeed and have read it many times over during the past few decades. this particular translation is a thing of sheer beauty and power. this is by far my favorite translation of the several i've read. this book belongs on the reading table of every sincere spiritual seeker. its simply sublime.

Awesome!
This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. If you're at all curious about Hinduism - this book has it all. Now I don't personally believe that a blue-skinned guy named Krishna ever really existed. But I do believe he is an excellent allegory, or character, used to convey the beliefs of Hinduism and the experience (and non-experience) of Brahman(God). My favorite thing about this book is that Krishna is active in everyday life. The story is actually an excerpt from the epic "Mahabarata". It takes place in the middle of a battlefield. Arjuna, a warrior, does not want to fight because he sees that all the guys on the other side are his relatives - his brothers so to speak. Krishna tells Arjuna to fight and then goes on to explain why it's ok - all the while expounding the ideals and beliefs of the Hindus. What's cool is that even though they express that God is in everyone and everything - it's ok to participate in ordinary life according to your nature. Arjuna has the nature of a warrior so he is supposed to fight when there is a battle. Not everybody needs to sit around meditating and smoking hemp.
The book is a masterpiece and it is beautifully done. Check it out.

Beautiful Interpretation
This is not a translation of the Gita as much as an intepretation. Scholars will find much to irritate them here as direct translation was not Isherwood's aim, but rather an interpretation of the text in such a way that was best suited to Isherwood's own aim's of self-enlightenment. This volume is easy to read, and many sections have been put into a semi-poetical form to recall the feel of the original (a big plus, as few modern translations have attempted to do the same). Also, quite interesting is the introduction by Aldous Huxley, in which he relates his "Perennial Philosophy" to the Gita and speaks in detail about Hinduism as well as it's relation to other faiths. An appendix on various Hindoo ideas is included that makes some potentially foreign concepts a little bit easier to assimilate. For anyone who loves the Gita as I do, this book is a treasure trove.

Structured Systems Analysis: Tools & Techniques
I read this book over 20 years ago. It is still the best. I keep it right on my desk.

Best DFD book I've ever seen
I was introduced to Data Flow Diagraming in college with this book. Since then I have seen many other books describing DFD's. All fail to explain them as clearly as this book does. I highly recommend it!

Still a Classic
One of the first book written on structured systems analysis and still, after 20 years, one of the best. The techniques has stood the test of time.

Getting to Know Oliver
Thank you, Chris de Vinck, for sharing your journey of love with Oliver. Your book has been an inspiration and guideline since 1984 in our choice to care for and nurture our own litle Oliver, Gregory David. Although he died recently, it gave us courage and strength to know that someone else has been where we have. He gave us a vision of life that transcends the life we knew before his birth. It's all about love. It's ALL about love. You will always remain in our prayers for writing this little portrait of the gift of knowing someonewho has nothing to give but love.

**You'll want to read this more than once!**
If you have ever wondered why God allows people to be born with handicaps of any type, read this book. Oliver was born blind, mute, physically and mentally handicapped, yet his life had a greater impact on more people than many of us who are "normal" can ever hope to have. This book reminds us of the value of life and is very inspiring. I found it most touching that Ronald Reagan wrote to Mr. DeVinck about the power of his powerless brother and now former President Reagan is also one of the powerless due to Alzheimer's. I would highly recommend that you read this book. I also recommend Harold Kushner's "When Bad Things Happen to Good People."

life changing book
I want to let anyone know that is interested in this book to buy it. I first read this book about 8 years ago, and have made a point to read it at least once a year. It has a way of reminding me what is important in life, and what is real. Read this book and you will never be the same! I have given my copy to anyone that will read it, it is good for young teens and up!

Better than the first two...
This books was excellent, considering the kind of book it is, and it really gave a clear picture of what it might have been like to be there. Return of the Jedi has always been my favorite Star Wars movie, so this book, perhaps for that reason alone it is better than the other two. However, I still don't like that they turned "me" into a self serving idiot, with no courage or moral values, certainly not the sort of character I want to be. I also didn't like that they specified several times that "I" am a boy, when I (and many other readers I'm sure) am a girl. And why did they have to make up this other character for "me" to be anyway? I would much rather have been Luke or someone, especially since Return of the Jedi has always been my favorite because it has many deep turning points for Luke, and I always wondered what he might have been thinking and feeling during that time. This book would be best for children twelve and under, though older people could read it as long as they keep in mind that it is a Choose Your Own Adventure book, and they don't expect an epic.

Ever wanted to be Luke's sidekick? Now you can!
With Return of the Jedi Being my favorite Star Wars movie, I was very eager to sit down and become part of the story in one of these "Choose your own adventure" stories. In the book, you play the role of Luke's Best friend, as you attempt to rescue Han and defeat the evil galactic Empire. Along the way, depending on the choices you make, you will zoom along with Leia on speeder bikes, join (Reluctantly) forces with Bobba Fett, set the rancor monster free in Jabbas palace, and my personal favorite, Go with Luke up to the Death Star and decide the fate of the galaxy. There are lots of really neat endings and plot changes in the book depending on what choices you make. There are lots of good and Happy endings, and of course, some very deppressing ones, but thankfully, there are not so many this time (Unlike the Empire strikes back one). One thing that really suprised me are the types of choices in the book. For instance in one critical part, if you choose the good bath, you get a bad ending, but if you take the good path, you get a good ending. My only gripe with this book is that you are considered a weakling too many times by Han and the Others. But it is still the best in the series of Adventure books. Dont miss it!

The good: You are a main charachter in Star Wars! Lots of happy endings, really cool scenarios

The bad: Some dissapointing endings

And the ugly: You are often reduced to the role of "Idiot" a lot.

Great! Like having an adventure sitting down.
I read the three Star Wars choose your own adventures and this book is my favorite of the three. It is like having an adventure sitting down.

sweet book!!!
This book was great, I think the moral is that kids can make a stand and should fight for what they want!!

Roller Skating Radials
I rated it 5 stars because I love hockey. Also because it was cool how they had a hockey team. I've tried that before and it's hard to start.

Roller Hockey Radicals is Awesome!
It's about Kirby and he moved to a different town. He wanted to find some friends. Eventually, found a roller hockey team called, " The E-Street Skates". It was exciting! It had a lot of info about roller hockey. This book was REALLY RADICAL!

We need this book reissued
This book was highly recommended by the instructor of a typography class I'm taking - and it's out of print. Please encourage its update and reprinting soon!

Needs to be reprinted
Excellent resource for professional typographers trying to identify a typeface. Definitely needed in any competent print shop.

Invaluable, necessary, why not re-issue?
As a design student, I need this book. I've been looking for it for 2 months. Being able to identify typefaces by their distinguishing characteristics is a valuable resource in the decision making process. My instructor had a copy, that's how I know about it. Is there any way we could get; a) Christopher Perfect to re-edit and update the book, or b) get the publishing house to re-issue it?
