Anything couldn't be better for introduction
Now I'm developing smart agents to guide students learning while working together. This book has been a good refernce for me. I am sure it will be good for you, too. It can be your great introduction to cooperative learning for reviewing details of good cooperation and bad competition and systemic approaches to them.

Practical and effective methods for your math classroom
Along with the prequel to this book, Every Minute Counts : Making Your Math Class Work, you get a TON of useful tips, strategies and techniques to help your math students learn. Every new math teacher should read it and even experienced teachers may get some good ideas from it. I recently lent my copies to a new teacher at our school. They were given to me when I was fairly new to the profession by another experienced teacher.

Gaining Computer Knowledge
This book is great for the beginner. It covers Windows95, Office 97, Internet, Word 97, Excel 97, Power Point, Outlook, and integration between the applications. It is a great book for a beginner because it is very explicit and includes excellent illustrations. If you are familiar with a certain application, you can easily skip over sections and get to what you want to learn about. It also has sections that show how to the information from one application in another. It will quickly get you up to speed in using these applications. It would definetly be a good tool to use to gain computer skills for those just being introduced to Microsoft Office applications

Brief and informative
This is a great book if you are a beginner. It has a brief introduction to PowerPoint and the illustrations on how to get started with a presentation and how to complete a presentation is very informative. This book is more of hands-on and guides you through every step of the way.

This also has Independent challenges where you can apply the tools you learned in the chapters to create your own presentations.

Montreal Up Close: a pedestrian's guide to the city
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Cumulus Press (04 September, 1998)
Authors: David Widgington and Kirk Johnson
Amazon base price: $8.00
Average review score:

A great walking guide of downtown and Old Montrea WITH MAPS!
This wonderful guide book allowed me to stroll through the streets of Old Montreal and the entire downtown area, discovering the architecture and history of the many fine old buildings. The two fold-out colour maps were very useful to get around. They are air photographs of the city with buildings and cars and everything in detail. VERY COOL! I really liked the way it pointed out architectural features that I would certainly have missed. The stories about the places it guided me to made me learn more about the city in which I live. I'm reccommending it to all my friends who are planning a visit to me in Montreal. The historical background brought the city into perspective.

Public Choice: An Introduction to the New Political Economy
Published in Paperback by Mayfield Publishing Company (1991)
Author: David B. Johnson
Amazon base price: $62.45
Used price: $20.45
Average review score:

Eye-Opening
This book is definitely an eye-opener to those of us who are curious about how the economy really works. Although some of the language in the book can get confusing, the concepts are easy to understand. David Johnson uses great examples to explain these concepts and will really make the reader understand how the political economy affects his or her life. I especially found Johnson's discussions on the economics of elections/voting very interesting. Although the book is out of print, it would be a good idea to get your hands on a copy. The only way to improve this book would be to have the author, David Johnson, read it in an audio version. He's a great lecturer!

A great book for kids
This is a fantastic book for kids to learn how to cook beyond opening a can of spahgetti. It doesn't make things cutesy, because kids want to eat real food. Not tacos decorated to look like sharks. These are really kid tested and make cooking fun.
