Author J. Paul Scurlock, now deceased, devoted his retirement years exploring the Florida Keys, observing and photographing every specimen of tree and shrub. Pulished in 1987, It was researched and written before massive development in the Keys and pestiferous imports destroyed many of the native habitats. This book is still considered the bible of Florida Keys shrub and tree identification. With more two or three photos of most plants, it makes identification immeasurably easier: there's a photo of the entire tree, a close-up of the leaves, and the fruit, flower, or most remarkable aspect of the tree close up.

The plants are arranged in alphabetical order by botanical names. Information includes common names and scientific synonyms, detailed physical description, diurnal and seasonal changes, fascinating tidbits, and clues to tricky identifications.

The book emphasizes scientifc information, but is enjoyably readable for anyone interested in home gardening, ecology, or nature. The Miami Herald called it "The first field guide of its kind ...a a book that botanists can respect and nature lovers can understand." I absolutely agree.

I've had the book for several years, and find myself pulling it off the shelf frequently when I encounter a new plant while taking a walk, or want to see if a plant I want in my garden will survive the harsh shoreline conditions of my Florida Keys home.

Jack Kornfield truly speaks and writes from the heart. He is both wise and self-effacing in his presentation of modern life and struggles. I highly recommend this book and tape set to anyone seeking the spiritual path. He illuminates Buddhist psychology with such clarity that anyone can understand his important message.

The book is a thoughtful, balanced and readable review of the changes taking place in the workplace under "fast capitalism." It provides much-needed balance to the uncritical promotion of change by promoters of "fast capitalism" like Peter Drucker and Tom Peters. Two excellent case studies show some limitations to the ways in which change is being promoted and underpinned.

If you have an illustration or text description of Scottish arms and no idea to whom they belong, this is an excellent place to start. Graphic features -- chevron, fess, greyhound, Maltese cross, mullet -- are arranged alphabetically, with 5,500+ separate contexts described and pertinent individuals noted. And there's a complete name and rank index.

This is the bible, for lack of a better term, of political science.

I may be biased as several of the articles/definitions are contributions of my past professors, but the consistency of the writing doesn't hint that it is a compilation from many different experts.

In most cases, the contributing authors are the foremost authorities in their respective fields. That is apparent in the quality of this world-class publication.

A compilation of for the most part excellent articles dealing with the topic, the Apostle Paul and the Mosaic Law. Some of the articles are not for the novice and presume some knowledge of biblical Greek. However, the book does provide a good introduction to what James Dunn refers to as, "the new perspective on Paul." This school of thought is making good headway in resolving longstanding tensions and apparent "contradictions" in Paul's treatment of the Jewish law versus justification by faith. Evangelicals in particular should be paying attention to such works though doing so necessitates reexamining certain presuppositions of Reformed theology, especially those relating to first century Palestinian Judaism. I recommend this to anyone wishing to explore this topic.

This book provided me with a overwhelming sense of extascy. It had a intriguing plot with a sudden yet mystifing theme. I enjoyed this book immensly, and I highly recommend it to all the readers of the world.

This edition of the Bible, Possibility Thinkers Bible, the New King James Version, was made available through the Sunday TV program by Robert Schuller who said that it contained the most beautiful English translation of the Bible available. Dr. Schuller was correct, in my view. This translation is quite beautiful and very easy to read. Previously I had read another translation in English which was frankly quite poorly and unevenly done. This New King James Version, Possibility Thinkers Bible, brought the Bible to life for me in everyday, beautiful English. My thanks go to the translators of the New King James Version. You did a wonderful job for the Lord God/Jesus Christ.

This book is every bit the equal of "Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture." The parallels are quite amazing and extensive and "Principles of Architectural History" preceded "Complexity and Contradiction" by 50+ years. It should also be said that Le Corbusier's "Vers une Architecture," was probably the most important writing on the making of architecture since "Principles of Architectural History," placing these three books in the same arena. Perhaps Frankl was to Venturi what Wölfflin, was to Frankl.
