A culinary wealth of wonderful contributions
Compiled by accomplished chef and cookbook author Jerome Rubin, The Cape Cod Cookbook showcases 210 traditional New England recipes drawn from the culinary history and tradition of Cap Cod, Massachusetts. Organized into sections devoted to: Appetizers and Dips (Sweet Orange-Glazed Chicken Wings); Sauces, Salsas, and Jellies (Blueberry Chutney); Salads (Citrus Poppy Seed Vinaigrette Salad); Soups and Stews (Buzzards Bay Bouillabaisse); Fish (Nantucket Flounder Rollups); Shellfish (Provincetown Crab Cakes); Poultry (Maple-Glazed Chicken); Meats and Pasta (Bellflowers Pasta with White Clam Sauce); Side Dishes (Honeyed Squash and Apples); Breads and Muffins (New England Spoonbread); Cookies (Cranberry Orange Cookies); Desserts (Whiskey Cake); and Beverages (Raspberry Kiss), The Cape Cod Cookbook is thoroughly "kitchen friendly" and offers a culinary wealth of wonderful contributions for family dining menus.

Delicious!
I loved this cookbook. I live in Somerville have driven to the Cape many times, and grew up with New England food. The Frozen Cranberry Margarita is my favorite so far!

My daughter and I love this book. The illustrations are filled with wonderful details, both intriguing and beautifully drawn. The story itself is witty and simple and moves along to draw in even the youngest reader. Highly recommended.

A Mess of Fun!
Eight animals in the kitchen cooking up fun, and a giant mess! The book introduces Spanish vocabulary as each animal brings an ingredient for the cake. The story is cute for early readers, who will soon be reciting the book as they hurry to turn the pages.

Puerta Vallarta artist Lee Chapman is known for his colorful and whimsical style, and makes this book worthy of art collectors too!

This ones a keeper!
We checked this book out from the library and it looks like we'll be making it a permanent part of our book collection. My two-year-old loves it and she's learning the names of all the animals in Spanish too! The illustrations are colorful and the story is captivating for a little one who is obsessed with cakes!

The Essential Guide to Cake Decorating (Essential Cookbook)

A MUST!!
This is a must for anyone that is starting out in cake decorating and needs any inspiration or ideas. Once someone has the basic knowledge of decorating, anything in the book can be accomplished or adapted to something applicable. The full color photos and explanations are great, although it takes a bit of getting use to in the English/British "vernaculur" that it is written. It once again proves that the English have taken cake decorating to an art form and us Yanks really need to step up to the plate.

Exquisite and brimming with originality!
I got this book today on a whim, and flipping through it made me want to run out and whip up a cake just to see if I could create a fraction of the magic these cakes possess. I loved going through the vibrant color photographs and admiring the interesting designs (although I have to admit some of these seem much too complicated to be attempted by someone who isn't a professional pastry chef). However, that doesn't detract from the fact that the book is beautiful and informative, and even if I never get one cake to look the same as it does in the book, I won't regret a thing. This guide is a feast for the eyes as well as the imagination! (The sugar flowers alone took my breath away!)

Beautiful Even If You Never Make the Flowers
This is a beautiful coffee table book even if you don't ever try to make the flowers. Of course, like most sugar flower making books, this one makes it look easy, but it is extremely difficult and time-consuming even if you have all the tools and have an artistic bent. I bought all the stuff and it just sits in a drawer since the learning curve is great... and I can do almost anything artistic or creative.

Alan Dunn Does it Again!
This book is a gold mine of information! Creative, beautiful cakes in the European style, gorgeous gumpaste flowers, plenty of photos, and easy to read instructions make this book a perfect addition to your cake book collection. Grab this book and you will be inspired!!

Fair Division : From Cake-Cutting to Dispute Resolution

Something Worderful is Going to Happen
Steven Brams and Alan Taylor accomplish something quite interesting and worth paying attention to. They move concepts traditionally treated in policy debate and law with simple hit-or-miss human judgment and discretion into concrete analyzable mathematical processes. In the more than ten years that I've worked on the mathematics of child support, I have not yet been so convincing that such a transformation from subjective into objective is possible. Let the games continue!

A comprehensive resource, easily read
This was easily the book I referred to most in my Master's paper on fair division. It covers a lot of topics, including envy-free and equitable division, fair division by auctions, and fair division by elections. The authors devote a chapter to their favorite method, the so-called "combined procedure" that is equitable, envy-free, and Pareto-optimal for two players and would be invaluable to any divorce lawyer.

For those accustomed to reading mathematics or economics, this book is readable. For the layperson, it might be a little bit too technical in spots. While it has many practical examples, it isn't really a fair division manual for the do-it-yourselfer. But it's as close as you're going to get, for now.

The MOST beautiful I've seen!
If you love sugar work, then you'll be in tears looking through this inexpensive book. Alison Proctor's work is beyond perfect. Maybe it was a trick of the photographer, but they looked so real I was afraid to attempt to make them myself at first! Thankfully, the directions are so thorough one would have no excuse not to try them. Definitely a must-have for anyone interested in sugar work.

Nicely Done
This is a very nicely done book. It shows beautiful color photos of the finished flowers. The directions are done in a step by step easy to follow way. Alison Procter does a great job. As you go through the steps for each flower, there is also a step by step with a picture of the per piece item. It is very helpful to guide you through the process.

Going-Out-Of-My-Mind Cake
These short stories are mostly hilarious, although some are tear-jerkers. It will make you appreciate your family a lot more, as you will probably see your own kin in some of these situations. It's the perfect sized book to pull out of your purse or briefcase when you have a few minutes in line, waiting at the doctor's office, or whenever you need a quick escape into someone else's reality.

My five year old niece loved the story "Twos and Teens." I read it to her while waiting for our food at a restaurant. She demanded to hear it again and again until our food arrived!

Going-Out-Of-My-Mind-Cake
This book is a wonderful collection of short stories (in the genre of Erma Bombeck) from a busy mother's journal. Lots of laughs, and a few tears as well, as the author confronts the realities of life. It reminded me a lot of when I was growing up.
