Our family has been using Faith to Faith from the onset of its publication. Over the years, I have purchased cases of them to give to our family, friends and co-workers. This devotional is concise and right-on when it comes to it's biblical accuracy and in depth words of wisdom from Kenneth and Gloria Copeland. As you travel through the pages, the presence of God and Jesus, through the Holy Spirit is quite evident. You can use this devotional for years, as we have, and learn something new from the Lord each day. The practical wisdom for daily living, coupled with the deep spiritual insight into God's Word is unique and rarely found, so consistently, in any other devotional that we have used. This devotional is a great "seed" to plant in any believer's ministry, regardless of their spiritual age. The novice and the very mature Christian believer will find "pearls" on the pages of this devotional. I strongly recommend it.

The photos follow the text and give light and meaning to this defining work of the modern ecological movement. The reader is brought directly into Sand County and shares Leopold's vision as to how a landscape can be healed and brought back into harmony when man's stewardship of the earth is encouraged. The additional essays on the environment by Ken Brower, son of Sierra Club founder David Brower, is icing on the cake! The perfect gift for my teenage son before he left for college.

Long considered the first book on conservation, this should be read by everyone. The author's love of land, wildlife and nature are fully expressed. Those thoughts are followed by philosophizing on conservation - ethics, practice, economics, etc. Written in the nascent stages of conservation in this country, a time when it was more thought than practice, the issues still resonate today. One sees the difficulties both in expanding environmental conservation as well as the pitfalls and errors made in the area (with all good intent) since the forties when Leopald wrote.
Portions of this were assigned when I was in college. Now, 28 years later, the entirety means much more. It should be required reading for everyone, especially lovers of the outdoors.

While Leopold's writing in A Sand County Almanac is timeless, Sewell's photograhs and Brower's introduction provide valuable context for this classic. I will be giving this gorgeous new volume to my fellow Leopold admirers as well as those friends and family I have been trying to get to read Leopold for years. It won't disappoint!

This is a useful, well-written book about under-achievement. It can also apply to those who have achieved quite a bit, but somehow still feel impoverished or running below their capacity. The examples and case histories clearly show how and why people hold themselves back; they also provide a variety of practical strategies to combat this tendency. I can think of very few people that would not get a tremendous amount of value from this book.

YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY is a gold mine for the underachieving person who is not content to stay that way. Dr. Christian goes far beyond the usual motivational methods and rationalizations for inaction. He exposes the psychological scenarios that cause so many capable people to remain unsuccessful, and provides the tools to redefine one's life.

It's amazing that what might at first seem like an ordinary self-help book could have had such an extraordinary effect on my productivity, my personal relationships and yes, my happiness. One important problem I didn't know I had, that the book brought to light for me, was that I had been engaging thoughts and feelings that sapped my confidence. Since I noticed and turned off negative self-talk I've been able to achieve things I never dreamed I had the right to hope for. What was the turning point? Maybe that Dr. Christian starts his step-by-step plan by recommending... pleasure!

If not,read the constitution again and keep wondering why there are stormtroopers outside your door walking the streets of your free America.

Now THIS is a book you can sink your "mind's teeth" into! If you've ever wondered how we have come to suffer from a huge central government under a Constitution which was supposed to prevent such, then Hologram of Liberty is your book. I met Kenneth Royce (a.k.a. Boston T. Party) at an expo recently, and he confided that he considered Hologram his finest work. I agree. While I've greatly enjoyed his other more "how-to" titles (Good-Bye April 15th!, You & The Police!, Bulletproof Privacy, Boston on Guns & Courage, and Boston on Surviving Y2K), Hologram of Liberty is utterly unique and sweeping. He proves that the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia was tantamount to a coup d'etat which created a leviathan state over time. He then outlines the classic political solutions to Big Government (e.g., elections, constitutional amendments, a 3rd party, a virtuous constitutional convention, and 10th Amendment assertions by the states/people) and proves them to be fruitless. His ingenious solutions to a government which regulates everything from aprons to xylophones are the most fascinating proposals I've ever read in the subject of political science. This is a thoroughly original work, and quite honestly one of the best books I've ever had the pleasure to read. I really can't say enough about Hologram of Liberty!

The belief that we are a free country and that the federalist papers are important reading are statements thought to be true by many people. In fact, Mr T. Party, points out that it's the anti-federalist papers we need to pay closer attention to because we can see the results of the federalist papers right in front of us, tyranny, blatant law breaking by government officials, etc. Hamilton was supposed to be president, this book says, and in reading history I've come to believe that is correct, but his ill fated duel caused his death and he didn't get to carry out his federalist vision, but the constitution he wrote did it for him. gradually. this is an excellent read.

Ken Bucchi, AKA Anthony VesBucchi, recounts his trials and tribulations as a member of the ill-conceived, yet quite ambitious, CIA operation affectionately known as operation Pseudo Miranda. This narrative non-fiction(?), although stretching the incredulous litmus test, poses some rather fascinating questions about the manner in which our government fights the war on drugs and does so in a very entertaining and heart-pounding way. I recommend this book highly for non-fiction and thriller fans alike.

When Ken Bucchi's book was slipped to me last summer, I have to admit I was skeptical. I mean, come on. How many times have we heard about the CIA's complicity in the drug trade? After reading it, though, I was as hooked as the people who review the book below. It really is a gripping read, drips with authenticity (if you've been lucky enough to have met or talked with Ken, you KNOW the book is true) and begs to be turned into a movie.

Straight out of today's headlines...this book should go straight to Hollywood.

During the past ten years I have worked with a nunber of methodologies in the area of Root cause analysis. During this time I have seen none as effective and cost efficient as the PROACT methodologies showcased in this book.

Bob has written a classic RCA manual for all people in all industries. I personally have used both the methodology and software to great effect and would recommend them to anyone.

If you are serious about a reliability growth program in your site, then you need this book!

I co-ordinate a root cause troubleshooting clinic at a major engine manufacturer. We have had moderate success with our investigations and have developed several powerful methodologies. This book has taken our procedures one large step further with a coherent, effective method to analyse and document a problem to root cause. The combination of system diagram, logic tree and verification log described in the book is exactly the kind of methodology we needed and is proving very useful. The book is well written and is filled with useful guidelines for such required activities as information gathering and selection of the most productive analyses to perform. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in root cause analysis.

If you are a student of New York City or among the millions who love it, Kenneth Jackson's mammoth Encyclopedia is indispensible. I began using it as a reference book for my novel, The Five Points. Before I knew it, I was reading it from cover to cover. What a ride! What an achievement! While loaded with gorgeous illustrations, this is no coffee table book. This is a fact-filled guide to assist the serious student and amorous admirer through the intricacies of the greatest city on Earth. And unlike most books about New York City, this encyclopedia actually covers the other four boroughs, not just Manhattan! The enormous effort that went into this book will be gratefully acknowledged by anyone who reads it.

Just make sure you have plenty spare time when you pick this volume up. It is so addictive - you look something up, then something else catches your eye and before you know it two hours have passed.
I love New York and this book has definately increased my pleasure and knowledge of the city.

This is a great reference book to keep around. Great gift idea to New Yorkers who think they know everything about this great city.

Gary North stated that this book is the book one must tackle in order to disprove Postmillennialism. North is right, this book is just that good. Unlike most eschatological books which deal with the exegetical and hermenuetical issues, this book looks at the philosophy of history of Postmillennialism and contrasts that with the pessimistic millennial views (dispensational premil, amil, and historic premil).

From creation to consummation, Gentry shows God's underlying plan for redemptive history, showing it is one of victory and not of gloom. No other author, that I know of, has produced a work like Gentry's, by dealing with the philosophy of history of particular millennial positions. Nor have I seen any dispensational or amillennial scholar respond to Gentry's thesis in a respectable booklength and scholarly manner.

This book will be the master guide for all postmillennial defenders.

This book is a top-notch scholarly effort to define the biblical basis for postmillenialism as well as to show how other competing systems fall short. The great strength of this book is its copious footnotes. Gentry has obviously put a great deal of time into documenting everything he says, ranging from views of the Church fathers to scholars who hold to other eschatologies. It is definitely the type of book that you could also use as a excellent reference manual after you finished reading it.

Gentry also does an excellent job at relating how choosing an eschatology affects one's practical worldview. This is a negelected topic in modern Christendom. One's understanding of history, eschatology, and practical living are closely linked, and Gentry offers a solid case that biblical postmillenialism best advances the kingdom of Christ.

Because the book is so scholarly (for example, occassionally using arguments from the original Greek or Hebrew), be prepared to spend some time digesting it. Another book to know about is Mathison's "Postmillenialism: An eschatology of hope" which is more of a popular treatment of the subject, being shorter and a faster read, but not nearly as in-depth or well documented.

All in all, I would argue that "He Shall Have Dominion" by Dr. Gentry sets the standard for describing and defending the view of Postmillenialism. Highly recommended for any serious student of eschatology and God's plan for history.

I have read a number of Gentry's writings, and this one is the best so far. It is the only integrated postmillennial eschatology I have found to date. It is a must-read for end times scholars, but would be rather weighty for most other believers.

Gentry introduces his work by speaking of the significance of eschatology, showing its relation to all other areas of theology. He comes across as somewhat condescending, unfortunately, in his assessement of all other millennial views as "pessimistic." On this very complex and controversial Biblical topic, an ability to agree to disagree MUST be cultivated.

Gentry shows how postmillennialism is weaved into all aspects of Biblical history with five chapters on creation, anticipation, realization, expansion, and consummation. Each chapter is filled with Scripture references. Gentry allows the Bible to speak for itself, and does not try to impose his theological system upon it. The author then moves to various eschatological themes and characters, interpreting each in the light of postmillennialism.

An added bonus is the inclusion of a brief commentary on the book of Revelation. He addresses various concepts and characters in Revelation, then skims through the book chapter by chapter. Gentry closes with a response to several common objections that have been raised to postmillennialism.

This work is more like a textbook, and is definitely NOT light reading. Having made those two points, however, this volume IS very readable for its scope and size. For the scholar or the pastor, this book is a great investment providing a thorough explanation and solid defense of postmillennialism.

Written in modern English, I was impressed to see the name of Jehovah used well over 300 times.Other modern English versions
have deleted the name completly.

The Living Bible continues to be one of the premier paraphrases in the world of English Bibles today. Unlike other paraphrases (such as the New Living Translation (NLT)), the Living Bible reads much more smoothly, as it was the result of one man's efforts and his one voice. As with other paraphrases, the Living Bible is not truly a translation, but a free interpretation of the actual Scripture text - so essentially, it is a commentary in the form of a Bible. I find it helpful to read from the Living Bible for my devotions, but for serious, in-depth Bible study, I recommend using a much more literal translation, such as the New King James Version (NKJV).

The Living Bible was the work of Kenneth Taylor, who wanted something much more easily understandable for his family than the King James Version (KJV); also, the Living Bible was paraphrased from the American Standard Version (ASV) - not the KJV.

This paraphrase of the Bible did more to help me in my spiritual growth than any Bible I had ever read. When I began to get serious in my Christian walk, I tried to read my Bible like I was supposed to but reading King James Version made me not want to read it all. The Living Bible spoke to me about how God wanted me to live my life in language I could understand. I highly recommend the Living Bible for new Christians who want to grow with God.

This is the perfect accompaniment to Claire Tomalin's equally terrific new biography, Samuel Pepys: The Unequalled Self.

My wife & I listened to this during 2 hour commutes between city & country & became completely addicted. We were no longer driving the Taconic Parkway but totally immersed in the politics & bawdiness & squalor of daily life in 17th century London from the viewpoint of a very frank & funny & right-in-the-middle-of-it-all Mr. Pepys. From romps in bed with maids & other mens' wives to the plague & fire that virtually destroyed London, nothing is left out. Kenneth Branagh is magnificent (as usual) capturing the moods, rhythms & character of this incredible diary. When we finished the tape, we played the whole thing over again, enjoying it just as much the second time around! Highest recommendation!!!

Branaugh makes Mr. Sameul Pepys come to life. I only wish they had added a few more hours to the performance. Mr. Pepys has been described as the first writer of the 'modern' inner life, fully private and separate from public duties, but I'd never been able to overcome by unfamiliarity with 17th century prose. Branaugh's expressive but subdued intonation gets me over the hurdle.

I found it easy to understand... Well, as easy as any soap opera. It would probably help to memorize a few key names. Charles Stuart is the 'King.' James Stuart is 'Duke of York'. They are brothers driven from England by populist radicals who executed their father. After 15 years of exile, the brothers are restored to kingdom. This version of Pepys' Diary starts with monarchies restoration. It ends when Pepys' eyesight becomes so weak, he can no longer encode his comments, about 10 years later.

Pepys' has many amazing eye witness comments. At the execution of a regicide via the public torture known as 'drawing and quartering,' Pepys remarks 'Major General Harrison looked about as cheerful as a man could be in that situation.' When Pepys stays up all night worrying about Parliamentary charges of stealing public funds, his fears of 'losing his head' take on a deeper meaning than slang comments like 'losing my head' imply today.
