If you're a baseball fan and a murder mystery fan then you will enjoy this work from R.D. Rosen. With the help of Mickey, his sportscaster girifriend, Harvey doggedly puts together the pieces of the puzzle trying to find out who murdered his best friend. One red herring after another intervenes - a love struck fan, an inept and unscrupulous cop, the team manager's amourous wife who has a story of her own to tell and a small time hood. But Harvey presses on, all the while trying to hang on to his fading career and reach a .300 batting average.

The book gives an amzingly detailed portrait of a baseball season as a backdrop for the murder. This will appeal to baseball fans (such as me). But the author does not spare any detail in providing the reader with clues as to who the murderer is. He balances the drama of a baseball season with the drama of a murder mystery and does it very well. I read this book in a day because I did not want to put it down.

Strike Three You're Dead has alot to offer for baseball fans and murder myatery fans. It is very entertaining and spellbinding.

Frankly I was stunned. I knew nothing about Kundalini, and little about ecstatic experiences, but after finishing Dorthy Walter's "Unmasking the Rose" I was both enlivened, educated and inspired. "Vogel Flies South" is an exciting look at the way the world, particularly Europe, operates today. Dutch Vogel is American by birth but European by choice. He unwittingly falls into a wide-sweeping plot that pulls him ever inward. Dutch is never quite sure who the good guys are. So ,then, neither is the reader. This book is very entertaining as Dutch crosses Europe trying to figure out who his enemies really are.Harvey has written a suspenseful novel that a reader will not want to put down. The action is never-ending and I found myself wondering about Dutch when I was not reading Harvey's book.

Easy to read and captivating, above all it is an interesting concept for a spy novel. I was not quite sure wether, I was reading an autobiography or a novel, all the characters seem so, real life, the author has obviously spent much time in the places he describes, and his love for these cultures transpires. Great reading and captivating. you always want to get back into the book if! you put it down for a while.

Hardly ever reading novels, I was given this book by a friend and could not put it down! The characters are real and captivating, coming to life with every word. Vogel's mid-life crisis and his quest for a meaningful life after dropping out of the glamour life-style in D.C. with a wanting-to-have-it-all wife, caught between politics, law and his love for art; mingling between Berlin, Paris, the Alps and the US; torn between the demands made by his family of origin and his own desires. I can picture the streets, the cafes, and the landscape as I would see them in a French movie. I can smell the Cohiba, taste the snow and the rain as if I were there. The author shows great talent as the characters are lovingly developed in their idiosyncrasies, giving the dialogue a great depth.
A wonderful find, can't wait to read the sequel!

This just might be the best single book a serious player should own, regardless if your handicap is 3 or 30. The insights into the game and the simple techniques Penick suggests are just plain right most of the time. If Penick is good enough for Crenshaw and Kite, it's worth the time - it's quick anyway.

For us average golfers the tips are worth 5 strokes a game. I now understand more about the mechanics of the game after reading Harvey's books, than from all the instruction tips in monthly golf magazines. An entertaining and helpful book for weekend golfers. A must read for young and new golfers. Great for both men and women.

This book provides the best of Penick's great anecdotes. He has so many golf related stories from his days of teaching, coaching, and assisting, and each one sheds a new perspective on this timeless game. His best contribution to golf writing is his ability to provide clear visuals in association with sound golfing principles. He doesn't leave the reading wondering how to implement an idea, but puts it in concrete terms by providing examples from his own life as well as the people he coached. Apart from the wonderful golf tips, this is just a plain good read, which borders on an autobiography. If you love the sport and you love life, you will truly enjoy this book.

Has excellent photos, maps, directions and places that I was not able to find on other books for this part of the state.

We've been exploring this area for 20 yrs, but this book has led us to some new places. Directions and descriptions are very good. So far, Dusty Lake is my favorite- see it online.

Dr.Hames has shown exemplary scholarship in this thought provoking work.It will become required reading for anyboby interested in this field.

This is a beautiful little book for anyone curious as to what real astrology is all about. Charles and Suzi Harvey have done an excellent job in presenting an extensive and clear overview, covering every basic question that newcomers are likely to have. What is astrology? Who studies astrology? How can it help me? Can it predict the future?

The history of astrology up to the present day is briefly covered, and the basics of the birth chart (planets, signs of the zodiac, houses and so on) are covered in detail. The resource guide at the back is a nice touch, including web-sites and addresses for established teaching bodies.

The layout and illustrations in this compact little book are absolutely first class, perfectly complementing the clear, informative and imaginative text. All of the sections manage to be brief and to the point, but this clear and simple style still does justice to the depth of the subject.

The fact that you are looking at this review shows that you are interested in Astrology. You have probably started as most of us: By reading the daily/weekly horoscopes in the newspaper or magazine or maybe someone else got you interested.

This book shows you that there is a lot more to Astrology than your sun sign (That is what you read about in the magazine). Every single planet and sign influences you in some way depending on its location at your time and place of birth and this book gives you the basic idea in a very readable newbie-friendly way.

This is the best comprehensive book I've read on becoming healthy (and I've researched 'becoming healthy' extensively). It's written for the average person who wants to avoid prevalent diseases of the US (overweight, cardiovascular, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis...). It's easy to understand what you need to do and the effects are long-term. Best of all it doesn't take a denial approach to eating.

The reading goes quickly even though repetitive sometimes. The information is up to date and is what your doctor should be telling you!

Note: This book isn't as much for people who want to be 100% healthy, as it targets a broud range of people. If your goal is to be 100% healthy, I'd recommend looking for literature on raw or living foods, juicing, and colon care.

A well written, motivating book. Dr. Taub takes the food,diet, and exercise corporations to the mat. Dr. Taub educates us on the corporate grooming of our nutritional needs.This is a scientific, truthful look at the myths surrounding how and what we eat. You will never look at milk the same way again. Good education on why and how our bodies function. Excellent suggestions for creating healthy habits. Easy to read, tough to put down. I've been following his suggestions for three weeks and felt better about my health in one. This is a book for life.

After reading two books by the Dalai Lama, I can honestly say I would rather meet this one person more than anyone else alive today. He is an incredible man who has gone through many hardships but continues to have a positive outlook on humanity and even the men who occupy his country to this day.

You do not have to be Buddhist or even religious at all to gain a lot of insight from Beyond Dogma. As the title of the book implies, he really is the prime example of tolerance. He suggests it might be better for some people not to get stuck up on ceremonies or tradition and focus on what is important instead. Most religions at the heart are found on kindness, generosity, and humility. In fact, he speaks of several priests who took Buddhist vows but remained Christians because in essence, these virtues do not conflict. So he reaches out to people of all backgrounds. Part of this tolerance is because much of Buddhism does not require the same leaps of faith as other religions. You can reason through most of his discussions; you do not have to immerse yourself in scripture to understand what he says. He describes Buddhism as the Middle Way - between faith-based religion and secular philosophy - making it accessible to everyone.

His most recent book, the Art of Happiness, was very popular for its life-changing aspects. In addition to his sagely advice, this work also deals with international relations amongst differing religions and governments. Not surprising since it was written shortly after the Dalai Lama won the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize and consists of interviews while visiting France in addition to narratives. He embraces the idea of a 'New World Order' like few other modern leaders have had the bravery to do.

The Dalai Lama is not a religious icon hidden away from the world; he discusses real-life problems in a modern society that is far removed from the mystical city of Lhasa. Meanwhile, he can still apply a wealth of knowledge from a vast amount of information from many fields. If you are anxious to learn more about Buddhism, Tibet, the East, or the Dalai Lama himself, this is a great book to own yourself or to give to curious friends.

Browsing through a bookshelf with only the most vague notion of what I was looking for, my eyes were caught by the simple and yet powerful title of this book. At the time, I had little idea of what Buddhism was, and yet the title itself conveyed to me everything that seemed wrong with the religon of my upbringing.

Beyond Dogma is an inciteful and well-written treatise. It is one of my favorites written by the Dalai Lama, and the translation provides great clarity to his words. The autobiographical background of the Dalai Lama and the last fifty years in Tibet is in excellent context with the nature of Tibetan Buddhism. An excellent and easy read that is light on the complex theory and heavy on warmth and understanding.

I fully enjoyed this book. In her discussion of the prairie preserve, Annick Smith delved into cowboys, cattle drives, Indians, The Trail of Tears, Oklahoma land runs, buffalo, cattle, oil, the Civil War, controlled fire, prairie grasses, outlaws: all the makings of 10,000 Western movies. The book is beautiful: oversized and full of color photos. I especially enjoyed it since I was born in Oklahoma, still live here, and have spent some time on the prairie. But for anyone who likes Western history, prairie photography and preservation, this is a spiritual journey into a new home of grasses and buffalo in Oklahoma.

....this is a book you must own. Harvey Payne is one of the greatest outdoor photographers you will ever find. If you have lived in Oklahoma or are at all interested in this area or ecosystem, you will find this book fascinating. There is so much beauty in our state that is overlooked, and this book brings it to life, along with engaging stories of the people who tamed this rough wilderness. This is a book that makes me proud to be an Okie while looking at it. If you have ever been entranced by the stoic, proud majesty of the bison who once ruled the prairie, and are now relegated to wildlife preserves, buy this book!
