Francisco is famous for the ways that he reconsidered doctrine with respect to the world and the way we should live in it and APPRECIATE it. This book describes certain aspects of his new viewpoint, and compares it, as the title says, to nature mysticism, but it actually goes beyond that - and tries to understand in exactly what manner Francis really viewed the natural world. And it does this in a very organized and thoughtful way - and very well.

Do you ever get bored with being a Christian? Do you ever wonder if there is more to it? Is the pastor the only guy who can live the Christian life? I have asked myself all these questions. We are always told to live the Christian life, but never really told how. Finally, Edwards has written a book to get us started and he actually gives directions. It is incredible. This book will smash a lot of your past preconceptions on what being a Christian is. It smashed mine. Edwards has done it again by writing another book for the people; not for the scholars. I suggest reading it with a partner, because the activities require one.

This wonderful, thought provoking book by Jay Adams has opened my eyes to new techniques in the Biblical Counseling field. He has given precise, accurate information that is easy to read from a more reformed position. A must read.

My pastor gave me this book for my 40th birthday, and he could hardly have chosen better. While Charles's old-fashioned writing style makes for some tough reading (you really have to FOCUS on every sentence!), it's worth the effort. This is a book of enormous truth and wisdom, its pages simply dripping with sweet words of grace and spiritual nourishment. Charles's opening chapter on pride, his reflections on grace and conscience, and on the worthiness of Christ's sacrifice, are foundational, without parallel, simply life-changing. At times I felt like I was only now beginning to understand the true Christian life. Outside of the Bible, this is one of the few books I've read that really made me LOVE GOD MORE. And what higher compliment could be paid to a work of Christian literature? Highly recommended.

As a Christian, being able to look to God's word to oversome obstacles in my marriage means a lot to me. This book has helped me out several times in the two years I have been married. It remindss you what a precious gift God has given us with marriage.

This is one of the most engrossing books I've found on this subject. If you're amused by Old English texts and runic inscriptions with lively translations, this book is a must-read. Two thumbs up! Way up! Delightful summer reading.

The Way Everlasting by Edward J. Young
Psalm 139 is one of Scripture's most thorough statements concerning the majesty of God in his omniscience (knowing everything). E. J. Young's exposition is devotional but, where necessary, he deals briefly with the main attacks, which are made by the critics on this Psalm. Dr. E. J. Young (1908-1968) was counted a most able teacher in Old Testament scholarship. He had a speaking or reading knowledge of at least twenty-six languages, and most of these had been self-taught. He was able to pursue studies in Ugaritic, speak German fluently, and preach in Spanish. From 1937 he was professor of Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, standing in the tradition of the old Princeton Theological Seminary along with such predecessors as Robert Dick Wilson and Oswald T. Allis. First published in 1965, this mini-commentary is a fine piece of work and will be of benefit to a wide range of readers. It is an excellent tool to help in personal devotions: You will discover insights that will enhance your understanding of Psalm 139. As Joe Young (as he was known to friends)remarks: "Psalm 139 is a prayer of David in which he exalts the majesty of God. God is all-knowing and God is everywhere present." Only when we have let the psalm speak for itself, can we pray with the Psalmist: "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." This work gives a good, solid exposition of this portion of Scripture; it is written in a clear and concise style.
