Yoga for Christians
A "user friendly" introduction to the practice of hatha yoga
An Invitation To Christian Yoga provides an informed and "user friendly" introduction to the practice of hatha yoga as a source of spiritual well-being in a format compatible to a Christian discipline of prayer and exercises. The text is wonderfully enhanced with helpful illustrations in simple line drawings with Nancy Roth (an Episcopal priest) providing a short biblical text, often drawn from the Psalms, accompany each exercise as a basis for Christian mediation. Whether a novice beginner or an experienced yoga practitioner, An Invitation To Christian Yoga will prove invaluable, practical, inspiring reading, and is especially recommended for anyone who is recovering from an illness or insure, or is less limber than they once were due to the aging process.

excellent resource
I would really like to obtain my own copy of this book. It is an excellent resource for artists and Christians who want to understand the visual signs of their faith. Persons designing banners would also benefit from this book.
Every library should have their own copy
This book is a great teaching tool. It clearly illustrates, and defines the meanings of, and the history to the different symbols used in the Christian church. It is one of the best reference books on this subject found. I would love to find my very own copy.

Buy it! It will change the way you pray!
This book is awesome! As the author says, "Until we have learned to pray all ways, the danger is that we will replace prayer with work and some acts of kindness. But if these activities, regardless of how much good seems to be happening, are separated from a heart that is praying, they cease to be apostolic, fruitful, and redemptive. They become simply good deeds."
The key to this book is this: "The different activities of our daily lives are not distractions from prayer but rather the rich soil for prayer."
And how can you say no to a book that has a chapter called the Prayer of Napping! :->
An excellent roadmap to the mysticism of the everyday.
Through the prayers and meditations in this book, I've enhanced my faith greatly. Father Hays helps us to see the Divine in the everyday. I highly recommend this book and plan to buy several copies as gifts for friends and family members whom I think would benefit from the messages contained in this work.

You do remember the Bible, don't you?
It is common for those who desire to know more about God's Holy Word to become incumbered with commentaries and methodologies that ultimately stray away from Biblical principles. As a result we become academically astute, and theological weaklings. Totally sufficient is a defiant challenge to revisit the basic tenant of God's Word. The book's thesis is " God has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue."
2 Peter 1:2,3. This is a must read for all who have wavered or become less than courageous and confident in the sufficiency of God's Holy Word, and it's application to every aspect of life.
Doctors Hinson and Eyrich have penned an essential Biblical work.
This book is not for the shelf, it's for the hip pocket of pastor, teacher, counselor. Totally Sufficient promotes a surge of confidence in the original "How to" Book

Excellent overview of current issues in Biblical counseling.
This book uses noted authors in the field to discuss a wide range of issues in counseling and how the biblical counselor may look at them consistently from a biblical worldview.

Very insightful
This is the 4th of Gene Edwards' Chronicles of the Door series. I enjoyed it immensely. It describes Christ's most difficult battle--accepting "the cup" of our sins. The allegorical style is very creative, and it does make one think in more personal terms about the price paid for our sins as a people.
A GOD inspired view of the greatest event to date.
I pray that one day GOD will give me the ability of seeing Bible stories the way he Blessed Gene Edwards. In this book Gene shifts the paradigms just a bit to bring a whole other level the understanding of GOD's great plan & HIS LOVE and Sacrifice for man. I am looking at buying a copy for each of my five sisters and one for my mother. I do not believe anyone could read this book without being blessed!!

This Book has Answers!
Welch's treatment of addictions should be required reading for Christian workers. His books provides both understanding and ammunition for those who will inevitably have to deal with the problem of addictions and other compulsive behavior patterns. Ed Welch gives a thoughtful and urgently needed analysis of the step approaches that is both sensitive and irenic. He effectively sets the subject of addictions forth in its wider Scriptural diminsions, which opens up a path forward to newness and hope. Perhaps the most exciting feature of his book is the fact that he evinces a solid grasp on the reformed view of sanctification from beginning to end. This affords the reader with great confidence that understanding is being gained within the context of substantial theological committments. He who reads this book will certainly come away from it better equipped to handle the problem of addictions in the local Church.

A fascinating page-turner
Paul M. Edwards' The Angel Acronym is an involving and original mystery, featuring the head director of church education, Toom Taggart, who suspects foul play when the church archivist is found dead in the temple complex. A dark and twisted tale of hidden motives, and the conflicting politics of bureaucracy, religious zeal, and public perception, The Angel Acronym is a fascinating page-turner to be read closely to the last page.

From wise and prolific hand of Jay Adams
It all started in 1970, when Jay Adams courageously stood against the mental health establishment and proved from God's Word, the Bible, that believers who studied His Word were "competent to counsel" fellow believers, and that we did not need to rely on "psychology" to change peoples' hearts and their behavior! He completes what I would call a "trilogy" of biblical counseling books, with this book (the 1st was Competent to Counsel, the 2nd was A Theology of Christian Counseling). He also has written over 60 books that relate to counseling and living more godly lives. Every pastor should be familiar with Adams' works, and if they don't agree with him they should re-examine their viewpoint. This is an excellent manual of biblical counseling!

Beyond words
There are no words to decsribe the loss or loosing of a loved one. What Mr. Edwards has done places a whole new emphasis on death (our physical) and life afterwards. As with all his books, God's love comes through with every word. I will never look at death the same way again.

I found Roth's book very helpful in showing we use our bodymind (her word) in our Christian walk.
