Storyline ....
Since Amazon didn't post an editorial review, here's the description from the back of the book to help you decide if this book is for you: "A knock at the door betrayed a secret past so dangerous that it could destroy her life and her last chance at love ... Beautiful, sophisticated, American-born Comtesse Louise de Bernard thought she had left the passions and terrors of the past far behind her. Then one day, she was caught once more in the web of evil and violence that spreqad from London, to Paris, to Berlin, to an isolated French Chateau -- and the nightmare legacy of the past came alive and would not let her escape ..." Newsday called this a "Frist rate thriller ... Evelyn Anthony knows how to keep a story moving."

Which quilt do I make first?
I just can't say enough good things about Evelyn's books. She has such a wonderful style...I've seen the quilts from her books in person and they are fabulous! The instructions are very well laid out and easy to understand...her teaching abilities and neat ideas are definitely showcased in this book. She also recently came out with a line of patterns, "Little Miss Sloppy"...too fun!!!! Can't wait to see what she has dreamed up for future patterns!

I Loved This Book - One Of My All Time Favorites
This was my first Evelyn Rogers book and I loved it. I have a favorite keeper shelf and this book is on it. I fell in love with Sam Delaney and I had never read about the time period of the 1830's and the war over Mexico. She really gives you a detailed description. I have two copies of this book just in case I lose one!

Texas Series To Top Them All!
A very fitting end to the 'Texas Empire' series. Madeleine Hardin fled to Texas to escape the horror of what had happened to her in New Orleans. In the wild land of Texas, Maddy tries to realize her dream of running a cattle ranch, the Longhorn, alone. But a lot of dreams died during the Civil War, and Maddie is afraid hers did too--until a Yankee soldier shows up. Daniel Kent had been fascinated with the beautiful Maddie, but he never knew why she fled New Orleans. Now he has a chance to know her again, but Maddie is different. Life has changed her in a lot of ways. Dan has to admit he loves Maddie, but can he accept everything that happened to her? And what about the secret she's keeping from him? Evelyn Rogers' books continually and without exception delight her readers. Longhorn finishes the Texas Empires series with Maddie's story, a romance which certainly satisfies and finishes off what happens to all of the Hardin family and their loves in the wild free land of Texas where Empires are made.

Recommended for young readers age 3-10
Recommended for young readers age 3-10, Thank You, Solomon is a color picturebook about a little boy who gets a new puppy as a Christmas gift. But puppies require a lot of care, and only someone who can be responsible for a puppy's needs can own a puppy. The boy learns what it is to be responsible from the biblical story of Solomon. Engagingly written by Charlotte Lundy whose narrative is wonderfully showcased with the artwork of Miriam Sagasti, Thank You, Solomon incorporates the biblical story of Solomon's succession after the death of his father King David. Highly recommended for family, Sunday School, Bible School, and community library collections.

Not to Be Missed!!
This book is nothing short of an affirmation of life, celebrating the creativity and perseverance of the human spirit. In deceptively simple text, which even the youngest child can appreciate, Coleman weaves a story of tradition which, down through time, continues to bind people together in a delightful kaleidoscope of change. Complementing the simple text are Aminah Robinson's mixed-media illustrations, incorporating earth from Africa with material from her grandmother's quilt. Stitches running through the pages neatly reinforce the theme of the story. A book not to be missed.

Toxic Turmoil
I am a psychiatric epidemiologist and chair of the department of epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Like many of us in New York, I was deeply affected by the events of September 11th and its aftermath. Moreover, due to my line of work, I was called upon to play a role in dealing with the effects of the disaster, and in preparing for future such occurrences. Seeking to equip myself for this role, I rapidly immersed myself in the literature on disasters and their mental health effects. Among the many materials that I used for this purpose, this book was the single most valuable resource. The introduction provides an excellent perspective, and the chapters are thoughtful pieces which contain many original ideas. I give it the highest recommendation as a base from which to address this field.
