What all childrens books should be
The adventures of Fletcher and Zenobia are painted with the most vivid language imaginable, enough to challenge even the adult reader but simple to please even the youngest listener. The illustrations are fantastical, just enough to underscore the humor and irony. This book is the equivalent of those great Bugs Bunny operatic cartoons, entertaining to both child and adult.

Draws upon a wealth of historical material
Gamaliel Painter: Biography Of A Town Father is the story of how one adventurous pioneer transformed a cluster of log huts into a thriving village and one of Vermont's most influential towns. Gamaliel Painter, a man of forceful personality that combined daring, shrewdness and caution, arrived in Middlebury from Connecticut in the mid-eighteenth century. He took on many trades and professions including pioneer town founder, college founder, associate of Ethan Allen at the capture of Fort Ticonderoga, Captain of Artificers in the Continental Army, a two-fisted sheriff, judge, singer of Vermont's Declaration of Independence, legislator, surveyor, land speculator, industrialist, and toll-road tycoon. Biographer Storrs Lee has drawn upon a wealth of historical material to produce a vivid, lively, accurate, and impressive account of Gamaliel Patiner, a most remarkable and accomplished man who left a lasting imprint on Vermont's colonial and revolutionary history.

Not too hard, not too soft, just right!
Addressed from a dispensational, pre-trib, pre-millenial perspective, this book (one of the first three in the new "21st Century Biblical Commentary Series" - the other two being "Romans" and "Revelation") is a superb commentary even if you don't fall into the camps above. It does not treat the reader as a total beginner, nor does it expect the reader to be a learned theologian (though both groups will benefit from this commentary). Covering essential doctrines, terms, and concepts, "The Gospel of John - Believe and Live" is an excellent start to the series and an excellent addition to one's personal library.

The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial
Everyone has heard of this trial. However, until I heard this rendition of the trial and play I wasn't as interested. This play sheds new light on it and makes it so much more interesting and actually brought it to life for me.

Gringos in Mexico

A fabulous cross cultural reading experience
Edward Simmen, an English professor at the Universidad de las Americas-Puebla (in Mexico), edited this fantastic collection of short stories whose common thread is that of American authors writing about Mexican settings. The period covered by the stories ranges from 1850 to 1960 Mexico. If you are a Mexican or Latino reader trying to grasp how American writers have depicted Mexico through the years, or you are an American trying to figure out what to expect south of the border, this book is a must read. I had it at a seminar with Prof. Simmen himself, and I can hardly forget a more joyful and illuminating cross cultural reading experience... You will enjoy the trip, one way or the other.

A masterpiece!
This is one of Gorey's best stories, about the sad life of a sickeningly sweet orphan. Some people might prefer "The Gashlycrumb Tinies", but I think "The Hapless Child" is superior. This book is the epitome of Gorey's weird style, a parody of Victorian fiction, and always funny in a gruesome way, or gruesome in a funny way, depending on how you look at it. "The Hapless Child" is also collected in the first "Amphigorey" collection, but any serious collector of Goriana will have to own this edition as well.

Excellent resource for starting a business
Highly recommend. Most books skip the nitty gritty of starting a business. This book takes the mystery out of starting one. Plus, it has an "in the trenches" chapter on how to write a business plan. The authors of this book grew Fuel Tech (FTEK) into a business with a market cap <$250 million. It was fascinating reading how Edward Gazvoda and Bill Haney thought about their venture before making headlines. This book is credited with inspiring the creation of entrepreneurial clubs around the globe. Best of all, it is a business book that is entertaining. Enjoy! I am going to read it again.
