Attempt of mankind to run from the presence of God
In this powerful, classic book, first published in 1934, the eminent Swiss existential philosopher Max Picard argues that though the "flight from God" is not a phenomenon unique to this age, man has nevertheless put himself and society in an extremely dangerous situation with the progressive secularization of Western culture. In the Age of Faith, Picard says, a man had to make a conscious decision to separate himself from the world of Faith. Today, the world, not just the individual, is in flight, and men must extricate themselves from modernity and make a deliberate decision to find and affirm Faith. Gabriel Marcel says Picard is "among the few who appear capable of redirecting the thinking elite toward an awakening of reason, without which it is impossible not to despair of mankind."The FLIGHT FROM GOD is one of the most acute, and yet hopeful, analyses of modern man and society.

Comprehensive compendium from leading scientists in the field of membrane receptor function and methodology. Appealing material is presented by Dr. Birdsall on receptor-radioligand binding analysis and ligand-receptor allosteric interactions. Argy-Rousseau Well Visited
This book by Janine Bloch-Dermant has managed to succesfully capture the spirit of a very talented 20th centuary artist. By focusing on the whole person, and including details of his other talents, his business practice, his method and personal anecdotes, we not only get a clear understanding of his work, but are also inspired by his vision. As a book, this work is thoroughly researched and well compiled, including a Catalogue Raisonne', and details of the master's technique in pate de verre.

This book is a must read for lovers of glass art as well as anyone interested in pate de verre

One of the best fictional dog books out there...
This book is incredible. Even though it is not a horse book, anyone who has read and likes a good horse story is sure to love this. A girl is forced to move out into the country, and is unhappy and argumentative, until she discovers an orphaned pup in her woods. The pup, Gabriel, is named for the angel because of the light markings over his shoulders that resemble wings. While learning to care for him, the girl adjusts to her surroundings. To pay Gabriel's expenses, she takes a job down the road at a large show kennel where she quickly learns all the work that goes into turning out champion show dogs. One day when Gabriel is grown up, he follows her to the kennel- and much to her surprise, what she thought was a mutt turns out to be a purebred Keeshond. This delightful story follows the girl and Gabriel as they uncover his past, and give him a wonderful future.

Excellent companion for Garcia Marquez
The book allowed me to understand the complexity of the plot in One Hundred Years of Solitude. It also provided me with enough historical background information for understanding the short stories within the book. My favorite, however, was the chapter on Love in the Time of Cholera. I fully recommend this book for the reader of Garcia Marquez who lacks the background knowledge on Latin American issues.

Useful and engaging
Just picked this up and am already planning to assign it to one of my classes on modern lit--that ideal book that explains what Marquez is up to without either oversimplifying or overcomplicating. Fahy distills the most important material from research around Marquez without forcing us to wade through information that would only be of interest to someone writing a dissertation; furthermore, his voice is lively and approachable in doing so. This book is enjoyable reading suited to a wide audience--I hope to see more similar books in this vein.

One heck of a resource!
I'll never have to pay a broker fee again. I can pretty much apartment-hunt from home and miss those $3000-$4000 broker's fees. I recommended this to all my apartment-hunting friends.
