hmmmm..... I can't see why this book has got such humble and unskilled review till now. This book is the easiest material to understand the tenet of structuralism. Personally I don't like the disposition of structuralism at all and I suspect whether in 50 years, anybody remember that kind of school existed at all except writers of history of philosophy.
Anyway, this book made structuralism floating on the vogue with its ease to understand and constructed the intellectual fashion of structuralsim which dominated the whether of discourse in human science in the 1960s and 1970s. Yep. now nobody read Levi-Strauss, even anthropolgists don't read his books. But if you want to understand structuralism, post-structuralsim and postmodernism, you'd better begin with this book for it's the easiest and fun to read.

This is the first anthropology book I read. It may be considered difficult to read this book. A scholarly and heavy description however very rewarding in my opinion. Spanning a real wide scope.

I still can never figure out why "The Cherry Orchard" is hailed as his masterpiece and put in all the Drama anthologies to represent his work. To me "Ivanov", "The Sea Gull" and "Uncle Vanya" are his great works. "The Sea Gull" however ranks on the top of my list as his best work. A tragic tale of the meaning of love and being an artist with comic tones and timeless characters. All of the emotions and situations are realistic to real life. The play is more personal and has more meaning than average Realism. The first time I saw "The Sea Gull" I fell in love with it so much I saw it the next day again. It's one of the rare four act plays that I can enjoy the whole performance and not be bored. Anyone who wants to see Chekhov's brilliance should read this play and the others I mentioned.

So wonderfully photographed, well researched, and spell binding that I bought several more of Derek Fell's books immediately. This book inspired me to create a replica of the Grande Alle for my own front entrance.

I am so pleased with the purchase of this book. The photography is wonderful, the text is well written. I can't wait for next spring to arrive so I can try some of Monet's ideas.

This is the definitely the edition to buy if you're studying/playing either of these two quartets. It's a reprint of the Durand edition, so it's about as official as you can get. and CHEAP, too! It's a nice small size- sort of halfway between a normal paperback book and a standard big Dover score.

Good to get the Debussy/Ravel String Quartet Cd, Emerson of coarse, and this handy book.
Good for composition to study and easy to open.
Go for it~!

Hey--this is a great book! Creative and entertaining, good leisure-time reading for all ages. And best of all, really funny! The comical situations sneak up on you and leave you laughing until it hurts (but in a good way). I've cleared a shelf in my bookcase for more books by LeCesne. In the meantime, I'm going to read this one again.

Summer of the Nixon is an excellent sci/horror novel in the tradition of Harry Potter, and like the Potter novels; this book isn't for kids only. Fast paced, original and easy to read, the book has teen romance and demon battling reminiscent of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, complete with powerful super chick and wise-cracking band of misfit sidekicks. When the kids accidentally freeze time they unleash the hoard of nix, a rampaging band of demons that will destroy the world if not stopped soon! It's a page-turner, and well worth the cost, if you're smart, you'll buy two and give one to someone you love!

Although this book was written 25 years ago, the lessons for modern radio are still there. Its informative, interesting, funny and lots more.

I've been reading Fantasy for about fifty years. I didn't think there were any new ideas or plots. Timestopper proved me wrong. I haven't been so impressed with a new - to me - author since I read Tolkien's Rings trilogy, back in the fifties.

Einu is a young boy with the ability to stop time. His is a quest to rid the world of dark magic. But Malux, the last evil sorcerer stands in his way. Timestopper is a lively, action packed, non-stop, roller-coaster of a fantasy adventure story that will prove riveting to young readers as they follow the rather inept Einu grow in power as he reaches manhood, copes with the awkward teen years (and his best friend's girlfriend!); "accidentally" becoming his own best friend and losing his time-stopping ability, then proceeding to become the best fighter in the history of his world. Timestopper is a terrifically entertaining, original, and engaging story from first page to last.

This book is a must read for anyone familiar with Lebanese/Syrian immigrants to the US in the last 100 years.

The characters and customs in the book are so much like the people and things I remember as a child.

If you are of Lebanese/Syrian descent, you should read this book to your children/grandchildren. It's a great way to keep the values and customs alive of our parents and grandparents.

Although I read and reread all of the author's Betsy-Tacy books as a child, I had never heard of "The trees kneel at Christmas" until it was rescued and rereleased by Abdo and Daughters several years ago.

The story was inspired by a legend the author heard from a Lebanese immigrant woman while living in New York. She kept the legend -- that the cedar trees in Lebanon kneel down at midnight on Christmas Eve -- in her mind for quite some time, until a visit to a local school matched the face of a young girl with the story.

The story is told quite simply and timelessly. Young Afify hears the legend of the kneeling cedars from her grandmother and wonders if the trees kneel in Brooklyn, too. The remainder of the story follows her as she sets out in search of a miracle.

My daughter just had a birthday last week, and so my brother sent her some books. One of them was "Under the Sea" and the other was "Under the Ground". They are both being enjoyed by my kids (5 and 3) and me! They aren't very long, but they are VERY CLEVER. Every two-page spread has information and drawings on one side, and then a plastic page on top of a black page on the other. You punch out a paper 'flashlight' that is located in the back of the book, slide it under the plastic and are then able to see/highlight what is hidden underneath. We've been looking at them daily and are happy to have them.

I was amazed at how my two and a half year old was totally taken by this book. The concept so simple but so very effective. The flashlight is a definate asset. The animal descriptions are short and concise and the pictures are just perfect.

The "return" of the master. Although not as good of a read, imho, as MY LAST SIGH, this is still required reading for Bunuel fans, and still retains all of the great artist's power, humor, and insight. In an era of big bucks and ready-made food, it stands out like a whale among minnows.

This is a wonderful and funny collection of surreal writings from one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Many of the earlier, surreal writings by Bunuel, written when he was with the Surrealists in France, are imaginative and funny. There is also the complete collection of poetry originally titled An Andulsian Dog, which is surprisingly strong. The criticisms by Bunuel, along with the autobiographical material, offer insight to his aesthetic beliefs and his thinking. There are also snatches of the last screenplay on which he was working before he died in addition to the original screenplay for Andulsian Dog and a Hollywood treatment for an unrealized film GOYA. Overall, this is a big treasure for those who love Bunuel and who have been anxiously awaiting to read his hard to find pieces. It is a great companion to Bunuel's MY LAST SIGN.
