A wonderful book!
A French friend gave me the English version of this book for Christmas along with an outstanding recommendation. I have to agree with her now that I've read it too. The book is not a typical travel guide or history book. It is about the rediscovery of Roman civilization from the ruins and the birth of modern archeology. The story telling writing style and many beautiful illustrations really bring the past to life again. I have many books on Roman history, but this was the first to help me see Rome in a completely different way. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in history and archeology. It would also be a wonderful companion book for anyone planning a walking tour of ancient Rome. Happy reading!

I Couldn't Put It Down....!
I thought this was a fascinating autobiographical story of a very successful business man, who has a heart attack at a young age, and thus goes through an amazing spiritual transformation. He travels to many exotic places, and adopts the Buddhist life style and religion, which by the way, is a very wonderful, wise, and tranquil path of spirituality. It held my interest to the end, and I highly recommend it. Interesting pictures are also included, which brings it closer to the reader.

This book is compiled with articles of the specialist in the field of negotiating. It concist of four parts; the first part is introduction to negotiation, the second part deals with the cultural aspects of international negotiating, the third part handles the negotiating processes itself and the last part gives examples of negotiating styles in different countries, like US, Japan, Europe etc.. In the articles you will find are lovely and sometimes amusing examples that illustrate the theories.

A treasure for intercultural work
This book is a true treasure for everybody who has to work on intercultural strategies for a company or on any other work dealing with this subject. Usunier used a lot of "real-life" examples to show the reader how intercultural marketing and intercultural behaviour should look like. A lot of companies - especially European companies - still neglect the importance of intercultural understanding and it should be a duty for them to read this book.

The wonderful world of homeostasis
As Bernard puts it: "I think I was the first to urge the belief that animals have really two environments: a milieu extérieur in which the organism is situated, and a milieu intérieur in which the tissue elements live. The living organism does not really exist in the milieu extérieur (the atmosphere it breathes, salt or fresh water if that is the element) but in the liquid milieu intérieur formed by the circulating organic liquid which surrounds and bathes all the tissue elements; this is the lymph or plasma, the liquid part of the blood which, in the higher animals, is diffused through the tissues and forms the ensemble of the intercellular liquids and is the basis of all local nutrition and the common factor of all elementary exchanges. A complex organism should be looked upon as an assemblage of simple organisms which are the anatomical elements that live in the liquid milieu intérieur."

This book is a wonderful book for the biology student or for anyone interested in how medicinal studies and biology "began." Claude Bernard introduces his idea of homeostasis in this book and he explains how and why it works, and how humans, as well as animals, could not live without such an idea.

I recommend reading of this book. It kept me busy for hours and I didn't want to put it down. Five stars for excellence, intelligence, and much much more. Read it for yourself and you be the jugde!

the discrete pleasures of Claude Simon
This is a beautiful book: beautifully written, beautifully translated, beautifully presented. And a delight to own, to read, to recommend. Too much is made of how difficult a writer Claude Simon is, especially for readers accustomed to a diet of all that drivel, the emotional manipulation, which passes for literature in our time. This is the real thing and accessible to everyone. A book full of innumerable moments of astonishing prose and insight and experience. A book about war, love, art, memory, reality, fiction, but mostly a book about the writing, which is always as it should be. And if at any stage you need to reread a sentence to grasp its glory then you will only find the pleasure enhanced. Do not be deterred.

Joseph Balsamo
This is a must for Dumas fans. Joseph Balsamo is the first book in a series that capture the history of the French revolution in a novel that is truly of epic proportins.
Love, war, fantasy and politics are delicately woven into the fabric of the story. Highly recommended.
