This the second book written by Chaplain Newby. Since one of my encounters is featured I can personally attest to the accuracy Claude stives to achieve. I have walked many miles through the jungle with this brave soldier/Chaplain and can assure you what he writes is the truth as he experienced it, coupled with others recollections. If you were having a bad day one thing you could be certain - Claude Newby would be there on the "first thing smokiin'" - often coming in on the Medivac chopper. He always went to the sound of the guns. A good man, a brave man, who writes books that are as real as he is. Read this one. (We appreciate his work helping telling our story of what really happened in Vietnam, helping us all remember those challenging days.)

A Vietnam Book That Will Survive 100 Years
It Took Heroes II is both a riveting day by day account of a Chaplains ministry in combat with Infantry Soldiers and a resource that will be sought after and read for decades. It is the author's second book on the Vietnam war, and recounts the experiences he and his men had on his second Vietnam tour. No book that I have seen captures the fear, violence, mayhem, and the special camaraderie of soldiers at war. Newby's book is a careful accounting of a battalion in combat, and he tells it from a chaplains viewpoint and with great oratorical skill. I bought both Heroes I and Heroes II, and read them both, barely putting them down. You will not be sorry that you bought this book, and Newby's first book too.

Wonderful book!
My four yr. old was entranced by this book. It's very different from the books we usually read. It didn't have the bright colors that most young kid's books usually have, yet, he was attracted to the disctinct art work.
This book spotlights the triumph of faith, the faith that two of the characters in the story maintain, to finally reach the stars. Great Book!

Breathtaking!
This book is entrancing! The illustrations are gorgoeus. A gentle blend of fantasy and reality. Anyone's imagination is sure to be captured- young or old! We will be using it for a children's book club discussion of the month.

Simply Wonderful
Miss Saigon contains some of the most beautiful music ever to be performed on a Broadway stage. This book contains most of the music from the show, but considering the whole thing is sung, it would be impossible to contain it all at a resonable price.
The music is wonderful, and is an essential for many singers of musical theatre. Especially for mezzos.

LOVE IT!!
I saw Miss Saigon on Broadway, and it was a wonderful experience, the best musical i've ever seen. The music is very great, and being able to play it on the piano and sing it is simply wonderful.

Murray's book is the next best thing to being there.
An easy read and visual feast, Monet's Passion exposes methods behind the color, texture, layout and scents of his magical gardens. It magnifies one's experience visiting the gardens or his works in galleries, and is a valuable companion to the painter's many works.

The book motivated me to visit Giverny, France.
Beautiful photographs of the gardens at all seasons. Plant lists. The author tells about the history of Giverny and her experiences as a gardener there. It would have been helpful to know which US zones the plants would be hardy in.

Most informative
I find this book the definitive source of information about the personal views of Olivier Messiaen. Claude Samuel seems to be well aquainted with Messiaens music and poses interesting and thought-provoking questions to the maestro. The book contains passages about bird-song and greek poetry wich are quite fascinating for a layman. Also quite curious are some of Messiaens personal opinions on some of the most important composers in history. There is enough facts about Messiaens music to satisfy even those who are allready familiar with his works. The book is written in an understandable manner, yet deep enough for musicians and scholars to get a lot out of it.

Extremely informative
This book is the definitive source of information about Messiaens personal views and opinions. Claude Samuel, the interwiever, is apparently quite familiar with Messiaens works and sets intelligent and thought-provoking questions to the maestro. Messiaen talks about his compositional techniques in an understandable manner, yet deep enough to satisfy the need of professional musicians as well. Delightful information is also given about Messiaens pupils and peers: Boulez, Xenakis and Stockhausen. Also somewhat surprising are his (often quite cruel) personal opinions about some composers who normally are considered to be some of the most influential in history. Also for a non-ornithologer there is a fascinating passage about bird-song and its influence and application to Messiaens music. I deeply recommend this book to everyone even remotely interested in one of the most important musical figures of the 20th century.

Delite to be 100 & enjoy your path along the way!
I picked up the book for the great photography of the beautiful individuals! Yet, after I got the book home, I began to read....and the enjoyment was so satisfying. Delightful tidbits of real life secrets for us all, no matter what age we are experiencing. In a society that does not honor the elderly, this book gives the reader insight into the real jewels of life we forget to honor.

INSPIRATIONAL! You will never be the same!!
Ever read a travel brouchere and wish you could be there? That's what reading this book is like in two ways: You want to step into the pages and hug the characters, and you also gain a desire to share their experience of living to 100! Great photography and even better stories. This book will make you laugh and make you cry. Above all, it will inspire you to a more meaningful life.

Pyramids by Jeunesse is MY First Discovery Book!
Anything Egyptian I "gravitate to" and the PYRAMID and SPHINX on its front cover forced me to peruse further. Am I ever-so-glad that I did. What a great book! Inbetwixt the pages are these fantastic painted brightly transparent pages to accentuate certain nuances throughout the book. I love this book! For the Children's Room of the Library in which I work, I ordered the entire series in English, Spanish and German. If I were to be stuck on an island, with only one series to be able to take, it would definately be this series. My FIRST DISCOVERY with Jeunesse's "Pyramid" was MY First Discovery of this wonderful series. Do investigate for yourself, and you will be happy that you did!

Relaxation kinetics

Author: Claude F. Bernasconi

A great book!
To my knowledge this is the only text available that treats this subject in such a comprehensive manner. It has been an invaluable reference, not only in my advanced kinetics course but also later in the lab. Much better to read this well written text that seek out bits and pieces in journals and obscure references. This book is written by Claude Bernasconi, a God when it come to physical organic chemistry. Help bring this book back into print.

I used this book for the course taught by the author.
This is probably the only collection of methods on fast reaction techniques in a text book format. In these days, fast reaction reaction techniques are not confined to the realm of chemistry but also prevalent in biochemistry such as protein folding and enzyme mechanisms. It is a must read for any graduate student or scientist planning to use relaxation kinetics as a tool for studying reaction mechanisms. I used this book for the course taught by the author himself. I received my Ph.D. with him as my advisor. Now I use it for my research in the area of protein folding. The book needs to be reprinted with additional materials

Very good book
Comprehensive coverage of motion planning techniques.

Wonderful
If you're interested in robot motion planning, this book is it! It provides incomparable detailed coverage of the major methods for motion planning and their theory, and could serve as a great geometrical perspective to planning in general. It's not a casual read, however and is meant for a specialist audience with a liking for theory. No professional roboticist should be without it.

Running a One-Person Business
Published in Paperback by Ten Speed Press (1994)
Authors: Claude Whitmyer and Salli Rasberry
Amazon base price: $14.00
Used price: $4.88

The best business book I've ever read!
I loved reading this book. It gave clear and concise methods of running a small business yet also inspired with ideas of how to do what you really love. The book gave good arguements why this is the only way to live and told many stories to back it up.

Covers subjects that no other biz book addresses
There are many new small business books being published but this is truly one of the classics. Rather than emphasizing information about getting permits, writing a business plan, etc., Running A One Person Business discusses how to keep from being isolated, how to separate your work life from your personal life, how to go on vacation when you're self-employed, etc. I recommend it to my small business students.
