There's Hope
Sue Heisler has emerged from a very deep darkness. She never gave up on herself. She searched everywhere for answers; searched with all her heart, and has proved to all of us that there is hope. She tried all the methods, and then went beyond it all into a new place of healing for her soul and spirit. Well done!

Drawing and Coloring for your Life
Susan has drawn her spirit. Drawings with feelings always touch the soul.

To the readers....
This book offers a chance for you, the reader, to become empowered to take control of your life. Sue eloquently and vividly points out that if only one side of a person is treated, then the treatment is not complete. Sue shares how she learned each person is a triad - body, soul, and spirit. To treat one and not the other two is like having only one leg on a three-legged stool; it will soon tip over. Mark Lanyon, MHS, CAAC, Brandywine Counseling Service

The Truth at Last
I have just acquired a copy of this book from a second-hand bookseller, and am astonished to find that it's out of print and there has apparently never been a paperback edition. I followed the Strangler case as each new murder was reported in the UK press, and it remains the archetypal horror story for me because it proves conclusively that one isn't safe even (above all) at home. I also read Gerold Frank's account of the affair very soon after it was published in the UK and re-read it last year; I have the "confessions of the Boston Strangler" in French translation.I have never been even half-way convinced that DeSalvo was guilty, and I always doubted that only one killer was involved. (The "psychological explanation" cited by Frank as to why the killer suddenly switched from older to younger women struck me as perfectly ludicrous 30 years ago, and many recent books on profiling have merely strengthened this view).

It would be easy enough to write a book which simply challenged the official solution, but that is not what Susan Kelly does. She provides overwhelming evidence not only to demolish it, but also to explain how and why it came about in the first place. This is a book with an index, a bibliography, acknowledgments which help the reader by indicating the author's sources (most acknowledgments seem only to explain who made the coffee and watered the plants while a book was being written) and careful indications of when exact quotations from transcripts are being used. It assumes no previous knowledge of the case or the "cast", and its procedural details are much clearer than Frank's. Also, Susan Kelly is literate, and she has a dry, ironic sense of humour.

I checked the book's listing in Amazon because I wanted to know what other people thought of it. I had hoped that, unbeknown to me, the Boston Strangler affair had been rewritten and DeSalvo belatedly exonerated. Apparently this is not so. I would be interested to know if anyone (apart perhaps from F. Lee Bailey, Esq.) has challenged Kelly's arguments and, if so, on what basis - though I doubt whether that could be done. If it can't, I hope the book will soon be reissued and properly publicised. It would also be interesting to have someone re-open the only murder case in which DeSalvo was certainly involved - his own.

The definitive book on The Boston Strangler
I was barely a teen in the Boston area when The Boston Strangler murders started. Recently DeSalvo's family asked to have the case reopened, no doubt due in part to this book. Their request prompted me to find more info, if any, about this case and I found this book in a library. Could not put it down. Expected the usual fact-packed but dry true crime book. Kelly has not only written a very readable and entertaining book, she has also made her case, namely, that there was more than one "Boston Strangler," and that DeSalvo was not one of them. Who some of the Stranglers might have been makes for a chilling surprise I won't give away here. Also, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the early career of F. Lee Bailey. Wish I could buy this book. It's a keeper.

Please Reprint This Book!
I read this book several years ago--and I am shocked to see it is no longer available. This is the definitive examination of the case: author Kelly looks at all the evidence, the sensationalism, and DeSalvo himself, with a scholar's objective eye. Her conclusions are disturbing and cannot be ignored. If you want to have a genuine sense of the terror in Boston from those days, this is the book. Some publisher ought to put this book out and give it the attention it so deserves.

This is a Book for All Children!
I am the librarian at my church. I recently read this book to a group of children during their monthly visit to the library during children's church. They really enjoyed it! It's a book that generates a lot of questions, comments, and thoughts! What I personally like best about it is that it is suitable for all children, whether they go to church or not. It's non-denominational. It's suitable for Protestamts, Catholics, or Jews. The drawings are truly beautiful and realistically portray a young girl. I highly recommend this book for all church libraries, children's Sunday School classes, and homes.

A Treasure
For any parent wanting to introduce their child to God, it's hard to imagine a better way than this exquisitely-illustrated book. And though it may be written with children in mind, Can I Pray's simple, direct message resonates with many adults as well. A joy to read.

I love this book!
Can I Pray With My Eyes Open makes me cry every time I read it. It voices how I felt when I was a child, and sometimes how I still feel about God and prayer. It does not espouse any particular or specific faith, except for faith in God. So every person who wishes to teach their child about communicating with God on a personal level should have this book! And even if you don't have any children, it's a quick, easy, lovely reminder of your own prayers. (And the illustrations are superb, perfectly connecting with the text.)

End the Struggle and Dance With Life: How to Build Yourself Up When the World Gets You Down

My Favorite Author
This is probably the most helpful book I have ever read. Susan Jeffers talks about living in a world the way it is today and not trying to change things or people. There is a magnificent chapter, TRUST THE FUTURE. This chapter should be read by anyone attempting any kind of life change, be it a new job, a new husband, a new city. She says that in the end, it's all perfect any way. I have already read this book twice and I find myself referring to it often when things do not go the way that I might have wanted. Read this book and you will regret mistakes less and less.

Prozac for the Soul..
This book takes you on a wonderful journey. Jeffers' words are immensely uplifting and transforming. You will gain immense insight into yourself, what you are doing that is making you unhappy, and what you can do to make yourself happier.

This opened up a whole new world for me, philosophically speaking, and I can now look at life with a more positive slant. I enjoyed all the quotes she included, as well as the dozens of apt analogies and affirmations. As a bonus, it is chock full of suggestions for further exploration and contemplation. Don't wait - it is an easy and delightful read.

Great tools for my life
I really liked this book because the ideas inside have given me a new lens to look at the world with, other ideas that help to center and feel more grounded in life. Even close friends have said I have changed since reading this book.

Hooray for "The Family Bond"
How inviting and parent friendly. I openned the book and could not put it down. It was so very warm, engaging and funny. As a working wife and mother to a 5 year old and a 3 year old, I rarely have time to sit and do leisure reading, but because of the length of the chapters, ease of reading and the gripping & sometimes even humorus text, I was able to find not only the time to read but to thoroughly enjoy this great book.

Many times I've felt like my family has to be the only one that goes through certain phases or that we must be the silliest family on the planet, but this book reminded me that we are not alone and that many families share the similar experiences, dilemmas, warmth and funny times. I was pleased with myself when I realized that some of the tips Susan gives in the book, I've already introduced into my own family.

It made me smile, belly laugh and Moo like a Cow. After reading the last page on the train I couldn't wait to get home, leave everything else at the front door and embrace my family. Thank you Susan for reminding me of what's most important! Your "Family Bond" has won a place in my heart and on my mantle.

Family Bond has Inspired me!
I have a three-year-old son and work full time. It's a constant challenge to conistently nurture a strong bond between me and my tempermental toddler (since I'm away from him four days a week). When I first read "Family Bond" on my commute home from work one day, it actually brought tears to my eyes. It gave me a glimpse into all of the beautiful opportunities that exist everyday (but that we so often overlook) for me and my son to grow together. The book is not only full of great tips, but it is truly insipirational. When I got home that evening, I approached motherhood in a way that I never knew before . . . and I had a blast! My relationship with my family just keeps getting better.

IF I COULD HAVE A SECOND CHANCE
I am 78 years old. I was visiting friends last week and picked up a copy of this lovely little book. I wept when I read it because my children are grown and gone and I wish this book had been around 50 years ago. It has such simple, common sense advice and I know if I had used it when my children were young it would have helped me so much. I was an old-fashioned Mother and it never would have occurred to me to express my love and understanding the way the author suggests. Back in those days, we just fed, clothed and sheltered them and figured they knew that was love. Now I know how much more I could have done and how that could have changed the relationship I have with my children today. I want everyone I know to read this. Thank you, Susan.

A little "guide" that WORKS (if you let it)
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! About 11 years ago a series of events took place that left me emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically drained. I literally felt like things were hopeless. Then I got the paperback version of this book...and I mean it when I say it helped change my daily life.

I followed the author's suggestions (I was willing to try anything): I held the book in my two hands, held the problem or dilemma in my mind, meditated a bit on it, let my mind (and body) be still...then closed my eyes, made my request in a question form...and opened the book. I would always open it and only look at the page that I "felt" I was being led to by one of my fingers.

Most of the time I was amazed: the quotation on the page TRULY referred to my problem and gave me some insight. And I (more often than not) acted on it. Once in a while I'd get an answer that didn't seem like an answer, so I'd reframe the question and start the process again.

Years later I gifted this book to someone in trouble. And I truly missed not having it. Then, last month, I bought it AGAIN...this time in hardcover.

I STRONGLY recommend this book. Even if you read it from cover to cover (which is not really how it is designed to be used) you'd gain a wealth of insight, since the quotations -- from yogis, to Eileen Cassidy, to the Bible, to Walt Whitman -- are the BEST to help steer your thinking (and some say guide your intuition) towards helpful, often healing solutions.

This is a small but potent book. Great to read. Great to use as a little voice that will answer your questions as you randomly turn to a page after a bit of meditation. And, most of all, GREAT to GIFT to friends, family or someone who's facing some difficult challenges. Once you use this book you'll never want to be without it.

A Guide Only for the Fearless
Ms. Hayward's book has been a part of my life for more than 15 years. I recently purchased the updated version for a friend of mine. To achieve the best that this book offers, one must truly let go to the insight & experience that its text provides. If you are prepared to let go a little, and to learn even a little more, you will appreciate the peace you can receive from this volume.

Best wishes to you all...

A must-have!
This collection of inspiration and angelic guidance has borne a permanent home on both my heart and my bedside table! Filled with the wisdom, knowledge and comforting quotes from some of the world's most intelligent and 'advanced souls', this book, bearing a unique and profound type of energy, is a ray of sunlight on any cloudy day. I have turned to its pages in every mood imaginable and it has never failed to provide clarity, guidance, consolation and peace.

Hello Happiness!
This is a wonderful book full of the author's personal insights and his proven strategy for living a happy life. I have given this book to many of my friends and family and recommend it whole heartedly.

Yes,you can choose to be happy.
Many years ago I first read this delightful book and I was amazed at how by simply following Bear's Option dialogue process life could be better.
I have given this book as a gift many times and it is one of those books that I unhesitatingly recommend. My friend, life coach Radha Singh who has had the good fortune to meet Barry Neil Kauffman and to do Option courses says that my giving her this book to read transformed her life.
The simple direct style and the easy prose style of a master story teller makes this a fun book to read.
Do not be deceived. If you follow the priciples set out in this book you will indeed live a happy life.

Read This Book
The title says it all. This book communicates volumes of information - all of it constructive. It is a reminder that we all control our own destiny. It is a hopeful, positive message with suggestions and lots of case histories of people who have put this philosophy into action and how they did it. Everyone can benefit from reading this book. I have read it numerous times. It is timeless.

Animal Grace: Entering a Spiritual Relationship With Our Fellow Creatures

Animal Grace
Psychologist Mary Lou Randour, Ph.D. gave up her private practice to devote herself fulltime to animal advocacy. Animal Grace: Entering A Spiritual Relationship With Our Fellow Creatures is her third book.

Dr. Randour says that "I learned that as we gain access to our hearts and minds, by acknowledging the ways in which we affect the lives of animals, this knowledge benefits us as much as it does the animals." She believes that humans have much to learn from non-human beings and points out that people have had animal companions since the beginning of time.

One of the most important things about animal wisdom is that it's always available to us. All we need to is become aware, which is "about deciding, learning, and acting." Once aware, we then develop compassion. Dr. Randour has found that learning about the intelligence and emotions of non-humans enables us to "overcome other distinctions, such as race, gender, nationality, and religion."

Her underlying philosophy is "ahimsa--harmlessness to all living things."

Dr. Randour includes interviews with world religious and spiritual leaders regarding their beliefs about the ways animals should be treated. She also includes numerous anecdotes describing how animals help humans with love, healing, spiritual growth, and death experiences.

"My work on behalf of animals infused me with a sense of purpose and prepared me to accept my own spiritual energy," Dr. Randour says. Animal Grace will help all readers understand how they too can enter into "reciprocal spiritual relationships" with their fellow non-humans.

Excellent book, but NOT about communicating with animals
I wasn't sure what this book was about when I bought it, even after reading the description and reviews. It kept coming up in my search for books on Animal Communication, so I thought I would check it out.It is definitely NOT about communicating with animals. For books like that, see Penelope Smith, Ted Andrews, etc.

This book was a wonderful read on how to increase our spiritual attunement/connection to animals. Animals have so much to teach us, especially by their examples. It was thought provoking and gently written.

THOUGHTFUL, INTELLIGENT--JUST WONDERFUL!
ANIMAL GRACE is a potentially life changing book. Ms. Randour approaches the topics of spirituality and the state of grace animals possess and that which can be achieved between humans and animals by not only delving deeply into the subject(s), but by addressing them from an unexpected standpoint. The standard approach is (of course) the emotional, but Ms. Randour instead makes MORE than just an emotional case, she makes an intellectual one. As a result, her arguments and points will not only touch your heart, they will (more importantly in many instances) touch your MIND. Why? Because they're LOGICAL and challenge any thinking person to stop and reconsider many things normally taken for granted. It is one thing to tug at someone's heart, but quite another to challenge someone intellectually to question their own thought process. And that is the beauty of this book, it touches the reader on so many levels: emotionally, intellectually, and finally, spiritually. Simply put: This is an amazing book, and I only wish everyone could read it. If ANIMAL GRACE does not speak to you, then I don't know if anything ever will. I was already a lover of animals and nature and believed in the spirituality of all living things before I read this book, but by the time I had finished it (less than a day after I'd started it), I had begun to question my own feelings and beliefs and have since gone from dabbling in vegetarianism, to becoming a vegetarian. Obviously, this book spoke to me very deeply, but the most amazing thing about this wonderfully written and surprisingly touching book is that it manages something few books of this kind ever do--it absolutely crushes apathy. And it manages to do so without preaching or pushing any views on the reader. Do yourself, the animals of the world, and the world itself a favor...PLEASE read this book.

The complete idiot's guide to the perfect resume
Published in Digital by Alpha ()
Author: Susan Ireland
Amazon base price: $16.95
Average review score:

sticking to basics
According to Ireland, not much has changed in the resume field. This is good news for those of us who have long preached the two-page maximum, perfectly written, future-oriented document. She takes you through the basics, explaining the different sections and your options in formatting. There is a good, non-intimidating section on e-resumes. The sample resumes are adequate and interesting to read. Ireland has done a fine job on writing a basic guide for the inexperienced or reluctant resume-writer.

From amature to professional in one book
before I bought this book I had a resume that I had 10% confidence in. Now in 24 short hours I have created a document that I have 110% confidence in. This book is a must have for anyone who wants to improve their resume without paying a professional to do it. Great as a graduation gift. Filled in the gaps where the educational system fell short.

A good resource on resumes
This is an excellent book. The author has done a great job in pulling together the elements which spell success in the quest for employment. I recommend it.
