This is a nice introduction to the field of star and planet formation. It is a bit more instructive than the similar _Protostars and Planets IV_, meaning that many of the chapters are genuinely useful at the graduate student level. However not all of the chapters are written equally well. Some contain breath-takingly comprehensive looks at their subject matters (e.g., the chapters by Chris McKee, Telemachios Mouschovios, Rafael Bachiller), while others could have been fleshed out a little more. All in all though, the book is a great companion to the larger (but same priced) _PP IV_. Although it was published first and so is slightly more dated and it is not as comprehensive as that other volume, I would recommend this over _PP IV_ for students in astrophysics on a limited budget--mainly because of its readability for second year and above graduate students.

This book is an absolute must for any first year law student. It provides clear and simple explanations of the several different kinds of possessory estates and their related future interests. It will also provide you with sets of practice problems(and explanations) to help sharpen your skills with such abstract concepts as vested and contingent remainders, rights of re-entry, possibilities or reverter, and the much celebrated(and bewildering) rule against perpetuities. These problem sets will not only keep you entertained and amused for hours, but they will also help prepare you for final exam in property. This book might also be fun for anybody depraved, and boring, enough to study this type of material for their own edification.

Kutler's book provides a very interesting look at the Charles River Bridge case, a monumental period in American Law that at once signaled the development of modern corporate law and showed the beginnings of modernity in American jurisprudence. Kutler takes a thorough look at not only the legal but also the social aspects of the case, without being overly dry or scholarly.

Thought the interactive Multimedia learning CD was very well designed. Alot of the concepts taught are useful in understanding how to improve or change a behavior. There was many motivating tutorials, simulations, animations, videos and a web-based portion of the CD to get additional information. Anyone interested in understanding Learning and Behavior modifying will find this Multimedia Learning tool useful.

Well,I got a version of this book and all I can say about that those pictures are absolutely great. Although sometimes I can manage to take good pictures, too, as an amateur, I would have never thought that some snobbish starts would prove that GOOD at it! Take a look !

Spain 1516-1598: From Nation State to World Empire (A History of Spain)
Published in Hardcover by Blackwell Publishers (1992)
Amazon base price: $69.95
Average review score:

This book (and "The Hispanic World in Crisis and Change, 1598-1700 -A History of Spain-" by the same author) has -at least- three strong points on its favor, which makes it very advisable to read: a) it takes great pains to explain -not only to describe- the Spain of XVI century; b) it includes a very relevant section on Spanish America, which is not common in books written on this period; and c) it is reasonable easy to read. I should have rated this book "four and a half" starts. Considering its content, I think it should be five; considering its readability, four. In any event, I do recommend it to read it. (Other books I would recommend to read on Spain: As a general overview, "A History of Spain" by Joseph Perez; and more focused on the XVI -and/or XVII- period: "The Spain of Philip II" by Joseph Perez; "Imperial Spain 1469-1716" by John Elliot; "Spain 1469-1714, A Society of Conflict", by Henry Kamen; and "Carlos V, El César y el Hombre" and "Felipe II y su tiempo" both of them written by Manuel Fernández Álvarez).

This seems to be a review for a high school or college History course, but could be read by anyone interested in the subject. Each chapter is divided into three parts: narrative, analysis and (study) questions. The first two parts are excellent: informative and interestingly composed. The study questions are abhorrent. No doubt they're designed to make students think more deeply about the subject, but they obscure it and render it more intimidating. But you're safe if you don't read them. Also there are some excellent maps, particularly of Spanish possessions in the Netherlands. And that chapter is very well explained.

Cureton's book is a wealth of knowledge packed into a relatively tight format. Although all of the books in this series are very informative, most do not span the time frame that this book does.(It covers roughly 1800-1991) The book has a very good mix of color and black and white photos with accompanying text. It is written in such a way that the beginner could follow easily, but yet still provides the valuable information that the student of military history seeks. Many of the photos are rare shots from the National Archives and the Marine Corps museum in Washington D.C., that the uniform collector, or military modeller will find indespensable. Also included are examples of rarely seen womens uniforms and that of Navajo codetalkers. I highly recommend this book to beginners in the field of military history and uniforms, and it would be a welcome addition to the collections of serious military and Marine Corps buffs alike.

This was how Lettow-Vorbeck, author of the German General Staff described this work. He was perhaps being a little unfair, but Chesney's analysis of the Waterloo Campaign is renowned for its balance and objectivity and is a "must" for all Waterloo fans.
