This book was a gift, but I would have bought one, and I have since given two for gifts and will not hesitate to do so again. The text was written by the legendary Earl Shaffer, who was the trail's first thru-hiker (in one season) in 1948, and repeated the feat in 1998 for the 50th anniversary of that event. The narrative is of this now famous anniversary Anniversary Trip, interspersed with some of Shaffer's poetry. Unfortunately, Shaffer died right after the book was published. Bart Smith, who is currantly behind the Katahdin Art Project, provides the wonderful color photos. To say he is talented is an understatement. His next book will be on the Florida Trail, and I cannot wait to see it. I disagree on one thing he wrote in the preface, however. Smith said, "I couldn't capture the feel of an autumn breeze, the smell of a deciduous forest ...". He is wrong. I COULD feel the autumn breeze. I could smell the deciduous forest. If this is an example of his work, he will be one of the great nature photographers of our time. I highly recommend this book. Buy it!

Earl Shaffer was an incredible spirit. This book, released in the year of his death (May 2002) is a beautiful tribute to his life. His writing is simple and straightforward. The photography is gorgeous. This book is one to be enjoyed by hikers and nonhikers alike. There's no way you can look through "Calling Me Back to the Hills" and not want to lace up your boots and take a long walk in the woods or find your way to a mountaintop somewhere. Thanks, Earl.

Hamilton's outline and word study allows the reader to determine for themselves the best interpretation of verses under challenge. While focusing on the Biblical evidence, Hamilton shows varying opinions on specifics and then challenges each with other areas of Scripture. The format, and easy-to-read structure make it a must for any Old Testament library.

This is a really good two volume commentary on Genesis. I like it better than Gordon Wenham's two volume work for several reasons: 1) It is easier to read. 2) There are many points where Hamilton focus on applying the text to the New Testament and to the practical Christian life, 3) you don't have to have a knowledge of hebrew to access this mammoth work. So if you're doing a Bible study on Genesis or if you're preaching through it, then this is the top of the line.

The commentary by Hamilton is one of the best that I'm aware of on Genesis. I'm taking an introduction course at seminary and I leaned very heavily on Hamilton's book. It is accessible to the beginning student, but experts should find it is hearty enough to help them too. I would definitely recommend this to any student of Genesis or of the Bible.

Despite how some may judge them on appearance alone. Sun Lord and Night Lord, both keepers of two different worlds gates, one would assume that the Sun Lord was the protector; that is exactly what the Sun Lord would expect from the commoners. He has a massive body with fearsome teeth as sharp as a knife blade. His disfigured body makes people turn away and assume he's a monster on the inside as well. Behind his outer shell you will find a heart of gold. The caring nature of a child and as loyal person as you can find in the depths of your imagination. The Sun Lord keeps the gates of the Twin Cities. He is supposed to guard the gate and make sure that the Lord of Darkness gets the offerings of various foods. The Dark Lord keeps the gate of a once prosperous city. The Dark leader didn't get his offerings so, he was too weak to close the gate and stop the flood that happens each year. Each generation thAs you should already have noticed The Lord of Darkness is the true protector, closing the dam's gates as to make sure the Golden Cities are not overwhelmed with a flood that would destroy the crops. He alone is the Golden Cities savior. Brother Night is the story of two half-brothers that must overcome each other's differences and rise-up to their already chosen destiny...

the characters Ramon and Lal are totally unforgettable as is their story. Their journey together to the Twin Cities is for two different purposes yet in the end their destinies lie down the same path.

Brother night was one of the first advanced book I began reading as a child and since then Ive been reading it over and over. Your book is so realistic and legendary that I never forget about it. Rabon, Lal, Dorf, and the mysterious Jenna are characters that In my mind can never be forgotten. This one book opened up a world of books that that gave me the will to read and read and read. This book will always be number one.

This book is a bit of home that is comforting in times of homesickness. Yet is still manages to emphasize the diversity of a great nation without seeming over patriotic. I good read for all Canadians whether at home or abroad. Also a good bit of insight for Americans to read to better understand their quitely proud neighbours to the north.

Are you a woman who wonders, what is all this about. Need some insperation for that female character and you don't want to follow the basic great looker mech warrior. Read this book. It was one of the first B-Tech books I read and it was great. The story kept me waiting for more. Infact, if your reading this Keith, when is the sequal. Well written with a good storyline, interesting characters and lots of action.

The first time you read this book , you may feel that it is yet another Battletech novel with lots of combat and nothing that makes it stand out from the rest of the crowd other than it is told from the perspective of a non-mechwarrior. Read it again. I did'nt get it the first time but 'Close Quarters' has a deep inner meaning . It is a story about duty.Cassie's duty to the regiment , Lainies duty to the Oyabun and so on. It is similar to Bob Charrette's 'Wolves on the Border' in it's Ninjo / Giri focus . I would recommend this to anyone , even someone who was not a Battletech fan.

This book follows the great traditions started by Keith and Stackpole. The characters are well developed and the action is good. This is a great stand alone book and its two sequels are also good. I recommend this book to all who love great SciFi action novels.

This book had an all around good plot, but it didn't have any good mech battles until the end. Most of it was just talking.

This book was a fantastic book. It has a lot of great qualities, The further development of Theodore Kurita and Ninyu Kerai, more of Camacho's Caballeros.Subhash's death was dramatic and he died for a cause but I would have rather he didn't die. It also has some of the best villians, Hohiro Kiguri and the Black Dragon Society. All in all this is a great book that shows the inner workings of one of the most powerful of the Successor States.

Victor Milan did himself proud when he created the Caballeros in Hearts of Chaos and they've come clear to Black Dragon getting wilder all the way. However Subhash dying was a definite minus and Franklin Kurita should have been expanded upon but this is still a first class book

I love this series of uplifting stories, which encourage us to transcend our narrow vision and touch our common humanity and inner resilience. I would also strongly recommend Emerson Lee's Time-Honored Wisdoms On Wealth creation, which contains many illuminating stories which will encourage and uplift us to discover and unleash our immense inner potential.

Another great book in the popular Chicken Soup series.

I am going to use this book in my grief class along with Healing Stories of Grief and Faith and Write from Your Heart.

I recently lost my beloved father following a lengthy illness and numerous hospitalizations. His death, though expected, was very devastating---and has bruised my heart. I bought "Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul" last week, and read several of the stories daily. Each and every one has given my heart a boost!! Reading the sincere stories of others' losses and how each is dealing with their own grief is helping me through my own grieving process. A wonderful source of inspiration and healing!!

If you believe that the authors were actually permitted to reveal the secrets contained in this book, it is monumental.

But knowing "The Company", it is more likely that this work is some sort of 'controlled' leak, softening the blow for the revelations of the inevitable congressional investigations that followed in the aftermath of the Watergate fiasco, the death of J. Edgar Hoover, and the continuing insinuations implicating the CIA of complicity in everything from the murder of JFK, to secret, malevolent control over the war in SE Asia.

Irrespective of ones' take on the voracity of the means of disclosure (whether legitimate whistle-blowing, or CIA damage control) this heavily-censored/redacted book ostensibly blew the lid off at CIA, with at least superficial examination of the structure, operations, methods, and mind-set of the U.S. intelligence apparatus. In the main, time has tended to validate this contents of this expose'.

Out of print and hard to find, this book nonetheless remains must-reading for anyone interested in intelligence, the Cold War, Vietnam, and the defense of the Free World up to the early 1970s. Buy it.

This is one of perhaps ten books from prior to 1985 that I decided to include because of their continuing value. I believe that both history and historians will credit these two individuals with having made a difference by articulating so ably both the clandestine mentality and the problems extant in the lack of oversight regarding proprietary organizations, propaganda and disinformation, and intrusive not-so-clandestine operations.

Professionals at work. This reviels it all. Don't read encyclopedias read crediable books by credible authors in the know. It teaches you the truth. Highly recommendeed by me and everybody else. Thanks for reading my review.
