Thank you, once again, Victor.
With "The Teachings Of Don Carlos", you delineated your path. With "Toltecs Of The New Millenium", you shared your experiences on that path. Victor, you have brought a reverence and sense of respect back to this world. You have shown us that here, all around us, we have a remarkable opportunity-- to tune one's spirit to the world at large. Embracing the world in such a way brings one into a deeper and clearer relation with Intent. This, is truly perception, and being, worthy of pursuit. Thank you.

Separate Reality - Altered States
For many of us looking for answers that doctrined religions cannot quite give us, Victor Sanchez has exposed a world where faith meets reality. Through his own research and paticipation, Sanchez experiences a spiritual domain that continues to exist admist the colonization and materialism now precedent around the world. Not restricted to boundaries of religion, Sanchez takes the reader through first hand understanding of what is possible when your allow and train your mind to believe in "separate realities." In a Carlos Casteneda like approach, Sanchez writes of his experiences with a group of Native Americans in rural Mexico, who have sustained their belief system and way of life before and after Spanish colonzation. Sanchez spent 15 years with these people and is sharing the world that these people "see." Those who have been exposed to Castaneda's work would find equal enjoyment with this book and have another supporting perspective of human capabilities with spirit and energy. Sanchez provides an answer to what is real to our eyes, may be only what we've been told and trained them to see. How easy is it to believe something you can't see, and if you do, should it be excused as hallucination or paganism. To the growing number of people not completely happy with formal religion, here is a glimsp of ancient wisdom that offers a possibility of human existence on a separate reality, one that is real.

A Stimulating and Practical Guide Book
I have perused many guide books on the Alps, but this is the best one for planning a trip. Why? 1.Instead of unintelligible maps and chunks of incomprehensible prose, this guide has clear maps and concise descriptions (plus good pictures) that help you decide which trip is right for you. 2.The author includes a great range of hikes, from day trips to 2-3 days to longer treks. Also summit climbing routes on mountains from easy to moderate difficulty, plus snowshoe hikes for winter. 3. Unlike guide books that are only about getting from point A to B, this one has a lot of really interesting information about the history, flowers, wildlife, architecture, and culture of the alps. It's a complete package for planning a great trip.

Trekking and Climbing in the Western Alps
An excellent book that will appeal equally to walkers and climbers. The selection is wide and varied and the format is easy to follow.A detailed and thorough first hand knowledge is much in evidence and the writer does a great job in promoting The Alps. One suspects that there will be more books to follow from this author.I am planning to do the Chamonix--Zermatt trek this summer and Hilary`s description makes it all the more enticing.I can`t wait to get there!!

very useful guidebook
nice price for a book detailing 22 different Alpine treks. Ms. Sharp includes practical "how to" information on each trek, as well as essentials on technical peaks that are accessible along the way. Her knowledge and love of the Alps is obvious from the text, and the photos are a real motivator to get over to Europe and do them all. Printed on high quality paper, this is a useful take-along resource for anyone who wants to include some adventure in a visit to Europe. Highly recommended.

Victor's Picnic: With the Vegetarian Animals

Will appeal to children who like animals .
Not wanting to hurt animals, Victor, a young boy, becomes a vegetarian. To ensure that he is eating a healthy diet, Victor goes to the library to get some books about what types of food he should eat. On his way home Victor stops to read the books and he begins to daydream.
In his dream Victor is invited to a vegetarian picnic by a deer. The deer teaches Victor the difference between carnivores and vegetarians, including the difference in their teeth, jaws, claws and fingernails. At the picnic Victor shares the food of animals who do not eat meat. Rabbits share their vegetables, a giraffe offers some of her green leaves, cows share their soybeans, horses give Victor oats, a gorilla provides bananas, chipmunks offer nuts, an elephant shares peanuts, and a few mice hand Victor some of their seeds.
When Victor wakes up he goes home and tells his parents about his dream and that he has learned what he needs to eat.
Victor's Picnic With the Vegetarian Animals not only points out some of the differences between animals who eat meat and animals who consume plants, but also the types of food that vegetarians consume including: vegetables, beans, grains, fruits, nuts and seeds. Written by Radha Vignola, a nutrition consultant, nutrition educator, diet counselor and vegetarian, this book
will appeal to children who like animals and parents who have vegetarian children. –Reviewed by Glenn Perrett (...)

Fun intro to vegan nutrition
I got this book for my 2 year old son, and he finds it very appealing. Who wouldn't want to go on a picnic with rabbits, deer, elephants, and gorillas! The pictures of animals hold his interest, and the pictures of wholesome vegan foods have inspired him to broaden his diet! Kudos to Radha Vignola and Michelle Ary for making the ethics and nutrition of veganism so clear and appealing to little ones.

A heartwarming story of a boy who has compassion for animals
This is a story of a compasisonate boy who spends mealtime with the animals in the woods, and learns about what they eat. It is totally non-violent. My elementary school students love it, expecially if its companion tape recording is played along with it. It is a fun teaching tool for a few catagory concepts about animals and food,

"The Manager's handbook"
McIntosh has done it again! This time, he takes on the sometimes complex human relationships encountered by people managers in today's workplace. He presents clear approaches and stratagies to create the team spirit and cooperation necessary to survive in today's competitive marketplace.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about team-building or to become eligible for that next promotion.

Innovative approach to principles of leadership
I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. McIntosh's book. As a CEO of a large organization, I am particularly interested in learning about how to motivate and inspire my employees.

Mr. McIntosh's work not only provides concise, principle centered ideas, but he writes the book in a readable and entertaining style.

I would recommend the book to my colleagues or anyone who is serious about setting vision and inspiring workers to achieve the next level of success.

You've got to be bad before you can be good!
Hi we've got this book in our CJP-NHRecord Office to show to anyone interested in obtaining a rewarding career in the Music Industry. This is one book they should read from cover to cover and cherish as a treasure. It's a full of great wisdom from a great gentleman who enriched the lives of so many and whose spirit is carried on and alive through Joan Carol, his wife, who is a great lady in her own right. Take the opportunity to read about WHY "you've got to be bad before you can be good" and then you can work toward the rewarding career in the Music Industry that Cliffie himself understood, loved, & lived so well. Thank you for letting me tell you IT'S WORTH YOUR purchase and actually UNDER priced for its value of knowledge enclosed. It will make a GREAT present for anyone this season and all year long. God Bless and now "BE GOOD!" & add it to your order!!

This is THE BOOK to buy!
The word on the street in L.A. & Nashville has been that this is THE BOOK to buy if you're serious about music. The people who told me this didn't even know who Cliffie is or that I knew him! The book has an extremely friendly & encouraging tone, which I appreciated. The thing that had the most profound effect on me was that I felt like Cliffie was talking directly to me! I felt like he was still with us - telling stories, imparting his wisdom & wit, and that this book was a labor of love, a gift to us after his passing. I felt like he was sitting on my shoulder the whole time I was reading it - I've read a lot of books and have never had that sensation before. (I'm getting chill bumps as I am writing this.) I would not be suprised to learn that he's sitting on lots of people's shoulders while they read this book. The front cover looks warm & friendly, and the copy leads the reader to believe there will be lots of useful, practical advice and suggestions inside, which there is. The back cover looks like a Cliffie & Joan Carol Production! They both look great and the graphic border compliments their Southwestern style. ( I'm a graphic artist as well as a musician, so the first thing I look at is the graphics!) Also, the quotes and their authors are extremely impressive! I don't think anyone has ever written a step-by-step comprehensive guide to moving ahead in the music business, especially one so accessible to the layperson. If I had read it 10 years ago, I could have saved myself a lot of time, energy & frustration; and reading it at this point in my career will help me move ahead more efficiently. We, as the readers, get to benefit from "The Master's" (Hey - I'm not the only one who calls him that!) vast experience & expertise.

You Gotta Be Bad Before You Can Be Good
It is a rare opportunity to recieve knowledge from one who has done it all, writes from experience, passes on the lessons. It is a book you will want to refer to over and over again as you journey down music road.

Reviewer's Consortium Review
The story within a story format and the author's biography suggest that Mr. Hahn created these whimsical characters for his grandchildren's amusement.

While on an outing to the dinosaur exhibit at the museum with two grandchildren, a human grandfather describes the "evolution" of the "frogasaurus" - a creature that descended from unknown dinosaurs on his father's side of the family and a long line of frogs on his mother's side. Frank is described as being an especially intelligent member of this species. Since this is the first book in a new series, most of the story is devoted to introducing Frank's rather large and extended family, and describing their hometown of Saurusville, which looks much like Bedrock from the old Flintstones cartoons. The simple storyline, brightly colored illustrations, and lovable characters make this an Ideal book for very young children, ages 3 - 8 years old.

Update your Library
I have been a long-time lover of Mark Twain's books. And being analytical, I want to know why something is written the way it is; I want to know the historical details behind his expression. So when I find that the Mark Twain Library has published Huckleberry Finn the way Mark Tain wanted it (unlike every edition that's ever been published, including the first!), I had to get it. Using all the explanatory notes--which are NOT cumbersome--and the glossary, and other notes about the text, I came away knowing that this book was truly what it is proclaimed to be: the best American novel ever written.

Having read just about all one can get their hands on by Mark Twain, this shed all new light on what Mark Twain was really saying when I read Huck Finn this time. The humour was more obvious, the sarcasm was more justified. The book itself opens up this door, but it helps to know what was in Mark's brain throughout his writing career.

Truly a must have for anyone into Mark Twain. I have purchased all that the MTL has put forth so far, and put my other editions in the yard sale box as errant texted that no longer interest me. I think any fan of Mark Twain will be tempted to do the same. Why read errant editions when one can have the author's intended, authoritative publication--with the original neat pixtures, too. I was so taken by this last reading of H. Finn that I've taken to memorizing some of the glossary terms. They are truly classic; bring'm back.

I am reminded of E. A. Poe's expectation that his works be published only as originally intended. This should not need to be requested by any author. To modify an author's writings for any reason is a type of sacrilege. Of course, even Poe's books are published different than he wanted. But thankfully, there are publishers who seek to restore the only versions worthy of publication. The Mark Twain Library is doing this, and any wanta-be authority in Mark Twain will never be such with "Penguins" and other bird-brained mass-market editions sitting on the shelf, or rather, in their hands.

Why read Huck Finn?
There are many reasons to read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" --

1. It is a great American classic novel
2. It documents a period in history from the common-man's viewpoint.
3. It is banned by some libraries and schools (a must-read, therefore on my list always!)
4. It can teach you to write.
5. It's a great adventure story that can be read aloud to groups, or enjoyed by yourself!

The Fischer et al. edition attempts to reconstruct "Huck Finn" in the way Twain probably intended. In particular, there is a section showing how Twain revised the "Sunrise on the River" passage to perfectly reproduce the sound of English as spoken by Huck --so reading this is almost as if we are listening to a tape recording of Huck talking. If you are unsure about "Huck Finn", turn to the Sunrise passage and read it aloud. Then tell me you AREN'T an admirer of this novel.

As a lesson for writers, Twain's search to perfect his craft and reproduce the very sound of his characters, along with a splendid use of language and an ability to create adventuresome plot are unparalleled in American literature. Banned? Are you people NUTS? This is possibly one of the greatest American books ever written.

A MUST-READ if you love American literature, or really English language literature in general.

An Annotated Edition of Victor Klemperer's Lti Notizbuch Eines Philologen (Studies in German Thought and History, Vol 17 - German Language Edition)
Published in Hardcover by Edwin Mellen Press (1997)
Author: Victor Klemperer
Amazon base price: $119.95
Used price: $78.00
Average review score:

Base of Brutality, Superstructure of Banality
Victor Klemperer collected the material for this analysis of NS-Sprache in his diaries and notebooks throughout the twelve year trajectory of the Third Reich. His observational powers are astounding, as readers of his diaries can attest, but it is in this study that his cool, detached intellect distills the essence of Nazism and the elaboration of its linguistic forms. The work is enriched by its erudition and references. It is an essential resource for the student of Nazi society. Though it has appeared in many other German language editions, this edition, for the combination of the original text with helpful annotations by the translator, is particularly useful.

A must-read for German scholars
Klemperer's LTI remains a key work in understanding the development of language within the Third Reich. Klemperer wrote this text in 1946 from notes he had made in his diary during the entire Nazi era. While teaching in Dresden after the war, he realized that he had to reclaim the word "heroic" from its Nazi misuse if he hoped to ever be able to discuss the self-sacrificial aspect of heroism with his students. This realization led him to put together this compact study of how common words, such as "asphalt," can come to carry Goebbel's intended meanings. Asphalt comes to symbolize that which separates Germans from "Boden," and is what makes the inhabitants of the big city infertile and likely to vote Social Democratic. Klemperer's title, LTI, is composed of the initials of the Latin for "Language of the Third Reich", Lingua Tertii Imperii. "LTI" is the code that Klemperer used in his diary to mark examples of Nazi and Nazi-influenced language.
