I am a C programmer with little knowledge on C++. Previous to reading the book, I know nothing about Windows API, not alone MFC. After spending about 6 hrs to read through the first 7 chapters, I can already write applications with some dialogs controls and feel confortable enough to look up information in help files to learn other MFC objects. This is all because of the effective outline and clear explanations presented by the book. In conclusion, this book is ideal for people with programming background to learn Windows API and MFC.

This book provides an introduction to programming the windows api and then jumps into MFC. It has a quick pace and is a good read.

Refer to Ayn Rand's non-fiction bood entitled "The Romantic Manifesto" There's an excellent introduction to Victor Hugo's Ninety-Three. That's what made me want to read it and why I continue to read it over and over.

...not that that is an unknown fact. I encountered this book while writing an honors undergraduate history thesis on the revolt in the Vendee--which is the setting for this book. Reading Ninety-Three was amazing, it is both a literary masterpiece and an historical commentary that is shockingly ahead of its time. Hugo balances carefully between his own personal belief in the French Republic, and his distaste for the methods used by the Republicans in 1793. His characters are vivid allegories, and the novel is peppered with small parables. It is a story where the "giants" of Robespierre, Marat and Danton become less important than three small children, where the Republic of Swords must face the Republic of Ideas.

This is a must for anyone studying the French Revolution, especially the counter-Revolution. It is also one of the finest pieces of prose fiction I've read in quite a while. I don't think I could possibly say enough in its praise!

If you have been longing to finally learn from the scriptures "how" to SPEAK IN TONGUES then this is the book for you. The author simply lays out common fears and how to overcome them with comfort from the Bible.

If you want to escape religion/tradition and want zero in on serious biblical research regarding the receiving of the holy spirit, then this is the book. If you are hungry for "how" to receive, but never could or if you just want clarification on the subject, then the wait for a copy is well worth the time!

This cookbook is more than a cookbook! I've been working on a historical novel about Mexico circa 1850 and of several cookbooks I've purchased, found this one to be far and away the best history book. The recipes are proceeded with whole chapters which outline the education of women in Mexico in the 19th century, what cooking was like in the convents, on farms, and lots of other detailed information- even with old photos, letters and newspaper clippings. I recommend this book highly, not only as a cookbook but as a delightful read!

Robert F. Kennedy was my hero when I was 13 and he still is to this day . I read this book when I was in middle school it was in the library at school RFK is more my hero because i feel i identify with him

I loved this book as a child, although it was rather young for me at the time I got it. I loved it because it was an excellent introduction to Senator Robert Kennedy.

The book is beautifully illustrated with very realistic looking drawings. The drawings of the Senator as a boy makes him a child other children can relate to. One can laugh with the little Bobby, watching his friend making a crash landing with a homemade parachute. (Luckily HE didn't try this stunt! Good thing he used a stunt man for this one)! One can cheer for the grown man, the Senator who reached the top of a Canadian mountain in 1965 after a lifetime of acrophobia.

The last part, covering the Senator's assassination is handled delicately, since the book targets a young audience. I enjoyed it as a child. It is not a comprehensive book, but a good introduction to Robert Kennedy is really all it is. It's just a nice little starter book.

This is a great reprint of an old catalog. It shows all of what was in the orginal. Saddles, chaps, saddle trees, hats, boots, bits, spurs, and some clothing. This is a great referance book for the person looking to research old equipment that they may have. I would recommend this just for informal reading if you like old west items. It includes prices of items in 1938. This book makes a great addition to your library.

It seems ridiculous to try to describe a cookbook as "peaceful" but this cookbook really is. Just reading it almost always fills me with the feeling I get when I am working on a familiar, much-loved recipe for people I care about on a special occasion, which unfortunately is rare. I think that is the magic of this author and this book; the author really seems to approach every meal as a celebration--but a celebration of simple things, as the title says.

This book is mostly vegetarian except for a short but notable chapter on fish. It seems to draw effortlessly from a variety of ethnic sources but all the dishes share the same basic qualities. They really are simple and easy to prepare; there isn't a single one I would describe as fussy. I suppose when you are cooking for an entire monastery you wind up with recipes that also are easy to prepare for 4 or 6!

The directions are simple and clear and the book itself is beautiful. There are interesting illustrations, seemingly woodcarvings not of the food but of mideaval life. There are also quotes on the subject of simplicty, joy, prayer in the margins which are as inspirational as the recipes.

This book will make you hungry for a hundred different kinds of vegetables, a peaceful weekend in the kitchen and a lot else. I recommend it to anyone who takes real joy in cooking.
