Beat Your Ticket
The information was good for the most part, however, some information is outdated.... for example, the book states that only 3 states consider laser an "unqualified legal seal" for determining speed. This information is outdated according to the Judge in Oregon Court today!!!

None of the ploys indicated in the book helped me at all in court and I was calm, prepared and articulate. I observed others in court yesterday and today to have had more of a reduction in fines, than I did, when they did not testify at all in their own defense!

The decrease in fine I received today hardly covered the cost of the book, never mind the hours of reading, researching the law library and observing trial proceedure.

I think it would be wise for Attny Brown to update the book in the near future!

Very Useful for lawyers & nonlawyers
The author's description of defenses to speeding tickets is very clear and detailed. He describes the classes of speeding laws and the procedures for dealing with each class. Both lawyers and nonlawyers will find it very useful.

An Amazing Man
John Brown, one of the most influential and important people of his time and of ours is captured by soul in this book. He is my great great great great great grandfather, which i know sounds a little off-the-wall, but even though he is so far down the line, i am still very proud of it. Keep his story alive, this man deserves appreciation.

Warrior to Dreadnought: Warship Development, 1860-1905
Published in Hardcover by United States Naval Inst. (1997)
Author: David K. Brown
Amazon base price: $59.95
Average review score:

Focuses on detailed naval architecture of the Royal Navy.
Very detailed descriptions of the naval architecture of the Royal Navy from the introduction of the ironclad through to the Dreadnought. The details will be of interest to architects and constructors rather than the general reader. The text assumes a naval architect's background and vocabulary on the part of the reader. Mostly deals with capital ships in the Royal Navy. Not enough detail on either the personalities of individuals behind the ships, ship engagements during the period, or developments in the ships of the Royal Navy's competitor nations. Interesting diagrams and photographs.

Fantastic case study of warship development
This book is not for the faint of heart. It is very detailed and technical. However, it is not prohibitive in its presentation, and anyone interested the capital ship design and development will already have the vocabulary under his belt to tackle this book. Yet, what this book offers is much more than a simple chronology of ship development. It provides telling insights into all the research and politics which went into making these 45 years, perhaps the most fecund in ship development, ever--the ships themselves were only the final products of a convoluted design process carried out in the face of both the comfort of unchallenged-empire, and the uncertainty as to the future of naval warfare. With this book (and ideally a copy of the now out-of-print but excellent Steam Steel and Shellfire) you'll be set to intelligently explore this very exciting period in warship design.

A Dramatic Reminder
The distant howl of the wolf seems at home alongside campfires under a brilliant moon. The echoes of those cries ring with loneliness and pain. They are forever linked with the wildest of the wild, nature untouched and pure. The Southwestern U.S. to Mexico is a wild and natural area, but far from untouched and pristine wilderness areas. Moon-filled nights are no longer punctuated by the wolf's plaintive calls due to a century of persecution that eliminated all species of wolf from the South West. With the attempts to reintroduce wild packs and the subsequent controversy regarding this issue a new edition of the David E. Brown's brilliant 'The Wolf in the Southwest - The Making of an Endangered Species' has been released by High Lonesome Books. Originally published in 1983, 'The Wolf in the Southwest' documents the fervor to rid the wolf from the wilds of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas from the late 19th century until the late 1970's. David E. Brown has painstakingly researched his book from decades of archival records documenting the plight of the southwest cattlemen. These ranchers whose heavy losses to cattle depredation lead to a government sanctioned declaration of war on all predators. It is a grimly fascinating tale of the sad history of the wolf in the southwest. David E. Brown's 'The Wolf in the Southwest' is the definitive resource on the various species of southwestern wolf, covering their biology, territory and first hand descriptive accounts of their place within their historical environment. These coincide with various trapper reports, techniques and encounters. Thorough and complete with many historical photos and documents, David E. Brown brings this shortsighted era to life. 'The Wolf in the Southwest - The Making of an Endangered Species' is a bitter read for it eulogizes, not celebrates the wolf. A dramatic reminder of how destructive the world was and still is and how once we set foot in pristine natural areas we slowly begin to lose them.

The Wolf In The Southwest
As always, David Brown's revised edition of The Wolf In The Southwest, meets the highest standards in wildlife writing! This updated version is the 'cornerstone' of information on the history of the Mexican Gray Wolf in the southwest, and has practical insight included for the wolf's current status in Arizona and New Mexico. It is an unbiased, factual representation of historic gray wolf management and biology, and a valuable resource on this large carnivore, which once again roams the manificently rugged Arizona-New Mexico border country.

An excellent services marketing reference from the US
Detailed and thorough, this book of research has one minor downfall-all of the authors are American, save one. Once again, the US is the centre of the universe as far as marketing academics are concerned.

A great resource and/or introduction to Philosophy of Art
An excellent collection of works covering diverse art forms. It is, however, lacking in its treatment of non-western art. The overall excellent quality warrent forgiveness of its shortcomings. I actually read this book in Dr. Goldblatt's class @ Denison Univ., OH.

A Good Look at Illinois Politics
Basic Illinois Government is an insightful look into the politics and government of the state of Illinois. David Kennedy and Barbara Brown take the large task of understanding the workings of this state and compress it into a very easy to read text. Their contemporary analysis of the structure of government in the state coupled with multiple examples from the previous forty years will allow even an out-of-state reader to get inside the system and see it at its most basic levels.

Big Brown Bear (Green Light Readers)
This is a great beginning book. Ny first grader really enjoyed it. He was able to manage most of the words in the book, yet it was not too easy. He thought it was funny and enjoyed predicting what the bear would do next. He summed it up at the end by saying "this book was really cool!"
