simplistic and comprehensive guide
I thought the book was well written and easy to follow steps to assess the pattern of incontinence. It had easy to understand directions and helpful hints that someone might try in order to improve their incontinence. I am a health care provider and found that this is a good book to suggest to a patient who might want to become more educated regarding incontinence.

One of the fairest Michelangelo biography
Don't look down it just because it's part of a series form Time-Life books. You can easily find it from different libraries.

I did a 10 page michelangelo paper, mainly focus on his relationship with the papacy and the influense of such relationship. I have read, oh probably 5-6 different books about him and I think this is the best.

The problem with the newer biography is that there are sooo many Michelangelo bio that the newers one are busy arguing with them. Robert Coughlan seem to be a genuine Michelangelo fan, which to me is a minimum requirement. There are a lot of topic like his sexuality, his relationship with his father and all the fun with Leonardo this book has a more compact and clearer description.

Only thing I'm missing the relationship with Savonarola, and how much his idea compliment Michelangelo's neoplatonic ideal. The later years is lacking though. The later part of the book totally turn into discussion of his architechtures, which I don't care much about.

The thing about Michelangelo is that he has become insanely famous and important when he still has 40 years to go. The celebrity really effect how he does his later works. I don't know if the book discuss much about the quote "My celebrity has ruined my life." Not that I believe this quote, but I really want to know more about last few years of his life and how they bury them. I still havn't figure out why they keep ridiculous amount of his letters *contracts* *receipts* and everything. Incredible.

Good Source Material - Overpriced As Usual
Good reference work for the practicing esthetician, as there is very little in-print regards "black skin care" for the professional costmetologist. However, like all the other books published by Milady, it's somewhat overpriced. Shop around for a used copy, or check it out at your Library, or have your Library do an "Inter-Library-Loan" request for you. Whether you buy a copy or check it out from the Library, do make the effort to read it.

Black Skin Care: Excellent Book to Read
This is an excellent book to read. I have learn so much about brown skin and various ethnic skin type. Everyone should read this book because their is a great need for knowledge on how to treat ethnic skin. Do you know how many time I've have heard professional skin care specialist say they are afraid to work on black/brown skin because of hyperpigmentation. This book is detailed, colorful pictures and insightful information on women of color. A word to the wise...Seek to understand information for yourself before you take someone elses negative/cheap reviews. Anyone who are seeking to pursue knowledge about black/brown skin this is the book. It's worth the investment to have in your library.

I am about to read this so am rating it neutrally
I am a Catholic who is very troubled by her family's deep involvement over the years in Marion Cults within the Catholic Church and other Cult-like groups that have come and gone over the years. Other members of my family two generations ago reacted to the same fascination with supernatural visits from Mary, Jesus and a variety of other Saints at Shrines and while doing the laundry (no kidding) by becoming Jehovah's Witnesses. Therefore, I need to read this book to see what one Cult fostering organization has to say about another alleged Cult and see if as a Catholic, hanging on by her fingernails to her faith in the face of demands that I abandon the Bible and go away from Jesus towards this his mother not as who she is but as a newly reinstated Goddess, there is any hope for my Church in whether my Church even wants my simple faith which is based on the way the Church started and survived for hundreds if not thousands of years.

I am a little disturbed by some of the author's credntials which appear to make her another person into the Marion version of Catholicism, but I will give her a read and hope she has some insights for me. I expect this to be an interesting read either way. My hope is that her answers are based in scripture only and not mysterious apochryphal texts that most Catholics pull out when trying to demonstrate that they have better Truth than other Christians. I say this because, the JWs will only ever get down with you on Scripture and to understand the differences between Catholics and Witnesses, one has to stick to Scripture or you are talking Apples and Oranges since Witnesses don't read, value as divinely inspired like the Bible or preach the added-on writings of Saints that we have long accepted as extra wisdom. To truly face off with a Witness, I will need a Catholic Bible based Primer along the lines of the Catachism. I hope I find it here!

Good Intro to JWs but some material is a little dated
This book provides a good introduction to JWs theology especially for Catholics. The material about JWs selling literature is a little dated. In 1992, one month after the US Supreme Court ruled that sales of religious material was not tax-exempt, the Watchtower Society determined that it would only accept donations for literature distributed in the United States. It is interesting to note that the sales-tax suit was originally brought forth by Jimmy "I have sinnnnnnnnned against youuuuuuuuu with a prostituuuuuuute" Swaggart with a friend-of-the-court brief filed by the Watchtower Society on behalf of Swaggart.

Not what I expected
If you are looking for a collection of ceremonial moments, this book is not for you! I was looking for ceremonial type rituals that I could do in order to encourage and empower myself. What I did find was an adequate explanation about brain waves and how to get to the "Alpha" state. Once in the Alpha state, the author has the person repeat affirming things to herself, such as "I AM God's beautiful love energy," or "I AM an optimistic and positive thinker." I was hoping to go a little deeper here. Meditation is great, and I use it all the time. But this book didn't live up to its title.

An incredible guide to finding your 'center' and happiness..
After reading this book and following the guidelines laid out within, I was able to realize that you only need yourself to be really happy. Dr. Zaffuto shares his experiences and life's knowledge with his readers in a way that is both spell-binding and educational. The style in which it is written allows the reader to almost experience the alpha state WITH the author. One of the most personal, insightful books I have had the pleasure to read.

There are better books on Provence
I borrowed this book from a friend, and was surprised to be so disappointed. The photography doesn't do the region justice, and isn't particularly good. It's such a beautiful place to be; it seems that photographers who have lived there for so long would be able to capture the feel, the essence of the villages, the people, the flowers. You'd be better off buying almost any other book on Provence!

Provence
Absolutely wonderful! It really brought back fond memories of my trip to Provence.

More artistic than Venetian
Having been to Venice and the surrounding area, I was excited about getting a book that would contain high quality photos of what I saw, however, the selection of photographs in this book was pretty disappointing. I'm shocked that it doesn't contain a single picture of St. Mark's Basilica, one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world. Also, I would have appreciated more mountain scenes and fewer pictures of blooming trees, masks, windows, and statues of animals. Overall, it's an interesting and pretty book but with too many pictures of boring things.

Captured the beauty of Venice
Venice and the Veneto has some very charming pictures of both Venice and the islands and inland surrounding it. The pictures are beautifully taken at various times in the day at different angles. I would recommend this as a coffee table book to whom ever has a love for Venice. I did think though that it would have been even a more delight for me if it had more works on the not so familiar aspects of Venice- such as the trailing tresses of plants or the gardens hidden in stone walls.

Leaves you hanging too often
I have to say that I generally disagree with the mostly positive reviews about this book. This book was written by 8 different people, and it cleary shows. The chapters do not follow a clear progression, and techniques discussed in one chapter are ineffectively carried over to the next.

The book also has a bizzare and haphazard arrangement of topics (For example: there is a chapter introducing Visual Studio.NET inexplicably placed towards the end of the book)

Overall the book tries to cover too many fringe topics without spending enough time on the basics of server controls needed to form a solid foundation.

The best book on web server controls...
For the price you may expect twice the book (a tad over 400 pages is small in tech books terms), but don't be fooled, the content of this book is very rich and much of it is hard to come by otherwise. Unless you enjoy spending hours digging though the msdn and Microsoft newsgroups, this book is for you!

As with many of the newer Wrox titles, this one is organized more like a collection of articles. This format has been the cause of many bad reviews, and while I don't care for the article approach most of the time, on Pro ASP.NET Server Controls... it works quite well. I bought the book with a specific task in mind, I needed to create a unique custom control that had multiple child controls inside of it, my only previous knowledge of server controls was what I had from the Professional ASP.NET book (which equates to about a chapter of this book) the material found in the Pro ASP.NET book left me with more questions than answers and I needed something to help me really understand what goes on inside and out of a web server control and how to integrate properly with the .NET Framework, with this book I achieved that goal within three hours of reading and experimenting, it truely was a life saver for helping meet one of our milestones.

So why only four stars? Well, as others have pointed out, the book isn't perfect, I did have to use the VS.NET on-line help to lookup how to generate client-side script for postback events, better examples could have been provided, but overall it's very good.

If you're going to build controls, get this book
There are a lot of technical books these days that seem like a real waste of time and money, arent' there? This one isn't like that. The authors don't waste your time with an introduction to ASPX or C#, don't bore you with the basics of programming, or anything like that. Instead they give you a focused, on-topic description of the topic. The examples are good, the prose clear and concise, and the chapters broken down well.

Another plus is that they tend to stay editor-agnostic. Aside from a few comments (and one full chapter) on Visual Studio.net, everything else can be followed using Notepad. The Visual Studio chapter is pretty good, too.

I can't say it enough -- if you've got to build controls, you've got to get this book. Get it now. (No, I'm not one of the authors!)

Stereotypical portrayals
I had high hopes for this book. It had great possibilities with lesbian moms, a young boy, and even a pet monster that looks like a smiling dinosaur. But the real monsters are clearly identified by their big leering toothy smiles, evil eyes, and grasping paws--it's the Christian family of course. I may not agree with their dogma or share their lifestyle, but I see no benefit in portraying ANY archetypical characters in such a hateful, stereotypical fashion. We won't get past the prejudice with this book--and it's not enough for me to use it simply to portray another version of evil stereotypes for my son to hate and fear in his lifetime.

I wasn't really impressed with this book.
I read this book and thought that the negative portrayal of the hateful people who wanted to take the little boy away from his parents was not very useful. It's possible that it would be a good book for a child who had had to deal with this type of discrimination, but for one who hasn't yet, I would definitely not recommend it.

The fear is important
The world for a child with two moms ain't always pretty. This book was a chance for me to show my son that there are bad folk out there that his school isn't about to warn him about. NO book read to a child shouldn't be talked about, and this is no exception. The evil McFinks are displayed with every ounce of hatred oozing from their pores...Children of Lesbian couples usually know that the hatred isn't always visable.

On a personal note, my son thought the Lorax (one of his faves) was "WAY Scarier" than this one.
