Mediocre entre to statistical analysis
I used the 7th Edition in a graduate course in statistics and was frustrated both by the text's poor organization and its failure to present key statistical concepts clearly. I had to resort frequently to other sources to clarify topics that were poorly presented in the Prentice Hall text, and tended to find much simpler explanations outside of the text. The problem sets are particularly troublesome, as many of them do not appear to relate to the section in which they are contained and insufficient explanations are offered in the answer key. I recommend you look elsewhere.

Totally unnecessary
After buying the seventh and the eighth edition of Statistics for Business and Economics. The two are pretty much the same. So, save your money, and fight back the publishing company by not purchasing this book.

Matt's Book Review
When I started reading "Commanding Voices Of Blue And Grey" By Brian M. Thomson, I'll admit I wasn't exactly thrilled to read it, but after a while it started to grow on me. The book was kind of hard to read because it wasn't in a story format like I'm used to. This book didn't really have a main character through the whole book, and it was kind of like a textbook, except much more interesting. Brian M. Thomson did a terrific job turning the experiences of different people that served in the civil war into short story like scenes. This book had some good battle scenes and some very important people that turned the tide in the war. This book was extremely good about showing both sides of the story. This book helped me completely understand the civil war and it was also surprisingly good.

First Corinthians: A Commentary of the First Epistle to the Corinthians

A Good Piece of Scholarship, Now Somewhat Dated
Hans Conzelmann's commentary on 1 Corinthians, in the Hermeneia series, was at one point considered something of an authoritative work and is often referred to in subsequent books and articles. His work is known particularly for the connections he draws between the problems facing the Corinthian church and the influence of Gnosticism and Hellenistic mystery religions. Written in a terse style, it is filled with footnotes that lead researchers in a number of different directions for further information or background that remains relevant.

In recent years, many of Conzelmann's theses concerning 1 Corinthians have fallen out of favor with biblical scholars, especially his focus on Gnosticism, and been replaced with a view that places more emphasis on St. Paul's own theology and that favors the wisdom tradition of Judaism over Gnoticism and Hellenism. Still, this commentary is worth reviewing, if only to enter more fully into the conversation concerning one of the thorniest letters in the New Testament. Students of 1 Corinthians will find much here that is helpful, but should be careful to compare Conzelmann with more recent commentators, most notably Gordon Fee.

The George Raft file: the unauthorized biography
Published in Unknown Binding by Drake Publishers ()
Author: James Robert Parish
Amazon base price: $
Used price: $21.95
Average review score:

Mean-Spirited Biography
Although the authors provide good factual information, they are never able to pierce the psyche of George Raft. The book is a mean-spirited, one-dimensional view of George Raft; nothing more. A later biography by Yablonski is much, much more insightful and lacks the hateful judgements pronounced in this book. i have seen the wind, and it's cold enough for me
this book opens with blackwood's great story: the wendigo. B is the master of the setting, noone can create the background and atmosphere like him. a very well written story from Brennan here. and Meloff's story is also an interesting read. derleth is at his best here. i don''t care that much for the guy, have never considered him to be HPL's great successor or anything, but he knows how to write, and i have always considered his story about Ithaqua to be his best contribution. the rest of the stories are well written. i don't think any of chaosium's anthologies contains of so much good writing than this. but good is not great. and the rest of the stories never turns out to be really good. the suspence killed by irrelevant writing going on for too long, mostly. sad. but the book is still wort reading

Future Leadership Styles
The first serveral chapters were excellent. Many of the later chapters were so-so. Presents a vision of where the Army needs to go with leadership. Thesis is that leadership will not be replaced by a digitized army but will become more important than ever. Calls for new paradigms in the way senior leaders lead. Although not directed at business leadership, I believe the underlying principles apply. Despite all its problems, once properly motivated, no organization can go from zero to lightspeed faster than the army. This book examines how to develop future organizational structure and leadership to do just that.

Go Teddy Bears
If you haven't read the first book, this one stands on its own very well. However, I really enjoyed the first book a lot more. "Rich and Famous" was more like a copy of the first book, same general beginning, same plot twists, etc. It was fun as a break from real life for a few hours, but it definitely was not the original story "The Teddy Bear Habbit" was.

In case the editorial review wasn't enough detail, here's my summary:
George Stable is back! After his last adventure, he's now a regular client of Camelot Records. He doesn't expect to be rich and famous, but it's fun to hope he will be. Just when Woody finds him an idea that is "on fire, baby!" his father goes on vacation, sending George upstate to live with relatives. George has to come up with a more and more complicated plot to escape his relatives and continue his carreer in show biz.

You Better All Ready Know This Stuff !!!
If your'e going to take the EIT test, you better all ready know everything in this book. Because this book is not going to teach it to you. This book is purely a reminder of things that you better know if you want to pass. You also better understand how everything in this book relates to everything else in this book.

Many of the equations are wrong. The topics it covers jump around. Transitions from one step to the next are "purposely" missing.

Final Thought: If you all ready know everything in this book, why buy it?

Very Good for the FE Examination
An easy to read test preparation guide, which helps you to refresh fundamental concepts quickly.

Out of the 13 chapters of this book, there are 116 problems and solutions( arranged under 10 chapter headings). Further there are two practice tests with 120 problems and detailed answers.

The Ethics section is presented with NSPE cases and analyzed in a masterly manner, therby helping the reader to grasp the nuances well.

This book's value would have been greatly enhanced, if the solutions had been worked out in a manner that encouraged the use of NCEES FE Reference Handbook.

A First Course in Business Statistics
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (January, 1983)
Authors: James T. McClave and P. George Benson
Amazon base price: $27.00
Used price: $16.90
Average review score:

This has to be the worst book I've ever encountered
There were errors all throughout the book. Two of the critical tables in the back were either incomplete or incorrect. The author clearly has no idea how make concepts clear, nor were the definitions and examples adequate. The answers in the back of the book are not detailed and provide no examples of how the answers were derived.

The companion CD-ROM was useless. It contained numbers and information that had to be manually re-entered into a useable format. Examples on the CD were as unuseable as the text.

The Student Solutions Manual that is recommended for this book provides neither definitions nor examples.

This book, I hesitate to call it a textbook, should be removed from any school curriculum.

I wish I could rate it with negative stars. This book would receive -3 stars.

Nearly flawless book in introductory statistics.
I found this introductory statistics textbook as a very appropriate companion when taking an intro statistics course. The author does a good job on making concepts clear with definitions along with detailed examples. The selected answers in the back of the book unfortunately are not detailed and do not give the student steps on how the answer was derived. The printouts of software experiments using SAS, SPSS, MINITAB, etc, in the text, I found very useful and supplemental in learning the material. It clearly describes and shows the steps on how the projects were performed on the specified software application.

Unfortunately, the companion CD-ROM was a disappointment. Rather than being full of clear and well thought out examples and definitions, it instead contains some bland text along with confusing examples.

Besides the companion CD-ROM, the textbook itself is well planned out with clearly written text and straightforward examples.

Greek New Testament
This is my eighth copy of New Testament in Koine Greek. At a farily reasonable price, the text includes both ancient Greek witnesses and a vernacular modern Greek translation. Unfortunetely, the Koine text is from "Textus Receptus," which is considered inferrior branch category in modern textual criticism. Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters: unless you care less about New Testament exegesis, stay away from this book!
