Try to find this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This may be my favorite Sci-Fi book of all time. It may have also been the first Sci-Fi book I ever read. James White has created a prisoner of war camp that is a whole planet. How do you escape from a planet where your captor restricts your technology to the bronze age level and most of the "prisoners" have long since stopped regarding themselves as soldiers. James White makes the attempt seem plausible and exciting. It reminds me of a Sci-Fi "The Great Escape". And, he also pulls a twist at the end that wraps the book up nicely and makes you rethink the rest of the book. I know it's not in stock, but try to find it! While it's different than White's Sector General stories, he still instills the attention to detail that makes his SG stories authentic.

Abrams Publishing House is the only great art publisher.
This book is a treasure; it is a rare sight to see an art book that faithfully reproduces works, some of which I have personally seen. Gary is a consummate watercolor artist, respectful of his medium and subjects; this is beautifully captured by the incredible color photography and the intelligent, inspired comments by Judith Gordon, This book is a treat for anyone who loves flowers and admires artistic talent...I wish I could find the words...

blending of mythology, horror, fantasy, and science fiction
All Derek Secrest wants is to fly, which is why he is flight training at Pensacola trying to make the grade as a Naval Aviation Officer. However, when tests prove he has strong telepathic abilities, he is yanked out of school to work for Dr. Kronenberg and a top-secret agency. Derek uses his newly discovered powers to thwart a terrorist plot.

However, the terrorist leaders are not normal humans, but instead are remnants of Ancient Greece with superior technology and magic fueled by genocidal human sacrifices. Their partners are even more malevolent as the Titans want pandemic human destruction. Derek and other telepathics join with the Gods of Olympus to stop the Titans and their friends. However, their new allies are also quite wary of human psi abilities that may prove more powerful than the magic of the Gods.

FORGE OF THE TITANS is an exciting binding of mythology, horror, fantasy, and science fiction into an entertaining tale. The story line makes believers of the audience that the Greek Gods and their enemies, and magic and psionic skills exist as Steve White provides powerful support to each element within the framework of the action. Derek is a delightful "Greek" hero with a powerful support cast (friend and foe) so that the wide gamut of genre fans will fully appreciate a wonderful novel.

God's Sovereign Grace
Published in Paperback by Crowne Pubns (1991)
Author: James R. White
Amazon base price: $8.95
Used price: $58.99
Average review score:

When was the last time you considered GOD'S GRACE?!
White offers an exemplary explanation of the "doctrines of grace" as outlined in the Bible. How fallen is man? *Totally* In fact, without the effectual calling of the Holy Spirit (regeneration), no-one would ever desire to follow Christ. White dispels the notion that fallen mankind can "choose God" or "make a decision for Christ." Rather, God has decided to have mercy upon some before the foundation of the world.

In this refreshing text you'll learn about:

(G)od's Sovereign Choice, the (R)adical corruption of man, the (A)ccomplished atonement of Christ, being (C)alled effectually by the Spirit, and (E)nduring to the end via God's preservation. GRACE!

A Compelling Case
The interest in the seemingly never-ending myths and legends about river trips through the Grand Canyon continues to grow. One of the enduring controversies that continues to surface among Colorado River historians is the question of who really was the first to travel the river through the Grand Canyon. Historically, the credit is given to John Wesley Powell for his amazing feat in 1869. However, there is, and always has been, a dispute about whether or not a Colorado prospector named James White may have actually made the first descent two years earlier than Powell, in 1867. If this is true the legend and accolades surrounding the Powell trip, while significant, will have to be revised to take into account White's accomplishment.
Eilean Adams is the granddaughter of James White and has written the first complete account of the controversy surrounding her grandfathers claim to have traversed the river through the Canyon in eleven days, two years prior to Powell's trip. It is an amazing story that was originally widely believed and publicized. White had been prospecting with another man near the San Juan River in Colorado when they encountered hostile Indians. His partner was killed and White claims to have fashioned a raft and began an eleven-day journey down the Colorado to eventually wash up on the shore at Callville, Nevada.
In a highly readable, absorbing manner Adams has written a compelling account of White's life and journey that is meticulously researched and provides a plausible and compelling case that White did in fact accomplish the unbelievable. The story will appeal to the reader favoring a good mystery as well as those hooked on historical events and legends. The book is well documented with chapter notes; references, sources, and other related documents that provide the reader with the first comprehensive account of a story that will not die. Was James White really the first person to traverse the Grand Canyon via the Colorado River? If so, why do historians insist on giving the credit to John Wesley Powell? The answers to these and other questions make this book a first rate addition to the literature of the West.

Must Read for Future Lawyers
This is the book that turned me on to the practice of law. Its discussions on the ethics of law are most facinating. It helped me answer the question "what does and should a lawyer do?" It is a fine piece of legal theory and a must read for lawyers and future lawyers alike.
