An excellent book
This book has all the hallmarks of an excellent book, including simplicity
of style, and in particular,an uncanny balance between the broad
picture and the details.
of style, and in particular,an uncanny balance between the broad
picture and the details.
The authors start by putting Project JXTA in a global context and comparing it with other technologies and indirectly hinting at the ethical and political issues involving P2P networks. And then over the next few chapters they make a very smooth and organic transition to details of various protocols and APIs.
The authors have thereby solved the classic dilemma of the forest versus the trees - either you are high up in the clouds
passively admiring the beauty of the forest or you are lost in the woods screaming for help at every step.Often authors forget this dilemma and are either lost in generalities or in details.
I heartily recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Good book about the waterways of Puget Sound.
Lots of good trips, lots of tips about timing your trip with the tides for a more enjoyable and safe trip. Good list of saftey tips. No book is a subsitute for experience but with this on you are less likely to get into trouble. The Puget Sound region has a lot of good open water kayaking and this book covers a lot of that ground.

House of Games
The stories in this book (for which Juan Villoro has been recently awarded with the "Xavier Villaurrutia") are certainly among the best ever written in Mexico in the second half of the century. Its characters and situations ( boxing, futbol, gambling, mistical experiences in the desert, the jungle and in mexican journalism)go beyond the usual mexican costum and manners literature(from Juan Rulfo to Carlos Fuentes)and plunge into a new style that bounds Villoro to the legacy of both Julio Cortazar and Raymond Carver.
